Funny - the likely place for a downtown stadium is the Perry projects - which are empty. And no, you don't spend a BILLION DOLLARS, or even a HALF Billion dollars in Orchard Park. You build closer to the fastest growing region in our area - SOUTHERN ONTARIO. It's ok bro - you'll adapt. You'll enjoy tailgating in the city - we know that's all your care about.

All for it. I've been to numerous stadiums - my favorites are all the ones downtown. The neighborhoods around the Seattle stadium... bars, restaurants, condos and people everywhere - going bonkers - the vibe - was so cool - before the game, after the game, and the next day. Just a cool vibe. Went to the Titans game this year - walked to and from the stadium - just very cool. Same with Baltimore last year. Went to the Pittsburgh game this year - SO MUCH FUN. Took their elevated light rail one stop from downtown and the stadium was right there. We tailgated before the game - YES - TAILGATING IN AN URBAN SETTING - hopped into the Casino to warm up before the game - (Casino was filled with Bills fans) - and then went to the game. Just a fun experience. It's time to grow up Buffalo. You tailgaters will adapt. You will go to the games. And you will find a new way to enjoy Bills games... GO BILLS! PS: I know some of you point to what Bob Kraft did with Patriot Place. Guess what? It's a fake plaza with restaurants and stores that are DEAD MOST OF THE TIME; even weekends. As someone who lives in Boston - its a joke. You can't replicate the real thing - put the stadium in the city and work it into the urban fabric.

Why would you spend a BILLION plus dollars in Orchard Park? And you keep asking where the money will come from if they build downtown. WHERE IS THE MONEY GOING TO COME FROM IF THEY BUILD OR RENOVATE IN OP? And yes, it will be a public / private partnership. LOCAL politicians should insist the state tap into the CASH COW in our own backyard - the NY Power Authority. And last, who cares what Goodell says - the Pegula's will figure out financing. If and when some come from the State/County for the stadium or infrastructure - so be it. But Goodell doesn't get to stipulate where the money is coming from; even if the NFL kick in from their stadium fund. Next question?

1) When I say near CANALSIDE, I'm referring to the open areas behind the Buffalo News near the Casino. I went to the Steelers game in December - and after TAILGATING - we walked to the Casino to warm up before the game. It was a lot of fun and FILLED with Bills fans. 2) Sorry, I stand by my statement. Between the Metro, Amtrak, tons of hotels, tons of parking all along the Metro and in the Central Business District, and the street grids - people have MULTIPLE ways to get to the stadium. 3) And your last point about Canadians - BS. Between stopping at the bridge for customs and driving south to the stadium - it takes WAY more than 10 minutes. Nice try. You build this stadium so its easier for your stakeholders to get to the stadium. You build this new stadium closer to amenities already established downtown. 4) I love tailgating... but I'm also not a juvenile and will find alternative ways to party before/after the game if the stadium is downtown. I know we are loyal bunch and love our tailgating - but in order for us to sustain the BUFFALO Bills - we need to keep up with Jones - and invest in our city core - not OP.

Team is not going anywhere. It may or may not move from its current location Everyone has an opinion about location Everyone has an opinion about tailgating The Pegula's would not have bought the team without a plan. Yes, this will be a public/private initiative. The State should look no further to the HUGE cash cow in our backyard - the New York Power Authority. T They are making a TON of money and should contribute. And here is my opinion - you don't spend ANY additional money in Orchard Park. If you want to play in the big leagues you have to pay. Build an all new state of the art Stadium/Convention Center downtown near Canalside. I don't buy the BS about downtown not having the infrastructure to support a stadium - the city was once 4 times in size and population. There are also multiple modes of transportation to the City v Orchard Park. You don't spend $500M on an old stadium in Orchard Park - which could not be further than the fastest growing area in the region: Southern Ontario.

Hard NOT to root for the Titans.....

Nope. Can’t do it it. -
Great post. You're right - there were some moments throughout the Bills/Steelers game where intimidation came into play... we need a good combination of intimidation and fun to accompany the game. Won't lie - I left envious of their stadium (and its not even that new) - their passionate fan base (we are passionate, too... but a bit nuts).... and their city. Another team/city that weaves their NFL colors (purple) and crest is Baltimore - they've done a great job with lighting up their buildings in purple coupled, raven/baltimore crests everywhere.

Went to the game this past weekend in Pittsburgh. Had an amazing time. Unlike Pat fans - I found the good people of Pittsburgh to be so hospitable and friendly - even in the stadium. This was also my first time to Pittsburgh - beautiful city. Really wish our “leaders” in WNY would get out of our way for progress and development. We have so much potential - just poor corrupt leadership on both sides of the isle. (No, lets not go any further into politics) Anyhow - the in game experience was pretty cool. From the terrible towels, any time the ref announced some random number was an eligible receiver, and various hype videos - the crowd went absolutely crazy. It was a lot of fun. I will also add - I absolutely want a downtown stadium - I’ve been to games in Seattle, Baltimore, Tennessee, and now Pittsburgh. I love being able to walk (or just on the “T” as they call it in Pittsburgh) to a game. I love how integrated the stadiums are into the urban fabric - and Seattle does it BEST. With that said - I was always a fan of the Bills building a retractable roof - but those stadiums become so dated - so quickly - and now I’m officially in the outdoor stadium camp. Just downtown! We will make tailgating work sprinkled in with local bars and restaurants. What would you like to see different or enhanced at our home games? Go Bills!
