Brief history: A lot of people think Paul Brown was one of the smartest people ever involved with football. When he was awarded the Bengals franchise, he picked up his QB off a scrap heap from Miami (John Stofa from the University of Buffalo!) and used his first-ever first round draft choice for a center, Tiger Johnson. He said at the time that in the NFL you have to be strong up the middle. In a year or two he replaced Stofa with Greg Cook, but Johnson played in Cinci forever.

You are absoluetly right about all the USC players who won the Heisman. Plus Terry Baker at Oregon, Jim Plunkett at Stanford, Gary Beban at UCLA . . . And jeez I would love to get Suh for the Bills.

I'm trying to think of the last time a top 3 team was as overrated as Texas out of a conference as overrated as this year's Big 12. Alabama is a pretty good team (not an alltime juggernaut) but will nonetheless just waste Texas.

I can honestly tell you I have no idea today who any of these guys are, what positions they [think they] play (unless they're all DBs), whether they're worth a second look in the next training camp, and what they stand to contribute to the Bills. Does anyone know the first thing about any of them? Wasn't Alvin Bowen supposed to be a big help this year after IR'ing in '08?
