  1. I can't quite tell if your sarcasm filter was on. Like mine was. Oh well, as long as your phasar's only on stun . . .
  2. All I wanna know is whether the Bills will pick before I switch to Fringe at 9. Sounds like they'll just make it.
  3. The Blades Brothers were both OK but not great -- Bennie and was it Brian? But back to the good brother/bad brother combos: Barry and Byron Sanders
  4. Not to worry. You can always open up TBD and see the Bills have signed Rodney Ferguson.
  5. Hey -- show some respect. This guy may have been the most important player of the 2009 season because he gave the Bills Braintrust that all-important roster flexibility. Klopf on. Klopf off. And I can imagine Chan exorting the Bills during one of his halftimes on a Klopf-off week, when the boys are up against it, to win just one for the Klopfer. Hey, it's Friday.
  6. "Playing the Pro Bowl before the Super Bowl generated more excitement and interest in the event . . ." Gimme a break.
  7. I hate dating myself like this. I remember reading the original piece in my brother's SI when it came out. There was a hideous picture of WMS after a rain with it -- puddles, potholes, cracks in the walls. IIRC the writer, Brock Yates, was from WNY -- Lockport, I think.
  8. Geez this is a refreshing thread. A question: do I remember correctly that there's no third place game, so if you make it to the semi's you've clinched a bronze (because they give it to both semi losers)?
  9. Most of these guys disappeared into DL-land. There's a harsh but, hey, welcome message here: players have to play. Maybe getting injured wasn't your fault, but we don't need you if you don't contribute.
  10. Here is my issue with Clausen. Not a new one or novel one. And yes I hate ND but I take Walter's point and I'm looking past that. Clausen is a California QB with maturity issues. At his time at ND he had no record of cold weather/miserable weather games worth bringing up. When the Bills are 4-9 in early December and the wind is howling through two feet of snow and five offensive starters have been DL'd, what do we get? Does he crawl into a shell and sulk? Jim Kelly grew up in western PA and played in games like that UNTIL he went to college. I'd love to draft Clausen and see him turn into Tom Brady (also from California), but . . . .
  11. This may be off-topic since it's about Brandon Spoon, but . . . IIRC, "Spoon!" was the Tick's battle cry.
  12. Also played that season opener in NY a few years ago, so it's like they've auditioned for the NFL.
  13. As I said to my wife after halftime, I know Lawrence Welk is dead but can't they still get his band together? But seriously, U2. [EDIT: Wrote this before I read the rest of the answers. I'd forgotten U2 had already been there. Just please god no Jonas Brothers . . .]
  14. Exactly the point I was going to make. Another southerner who's done OK in cold weather: Brett Favre in Green Bay. We all want to come up with simple answers. Sometimes there's more to it.
  15. The things I spend my time doing when there's no football to watch . . .
  16. Per the Saints website: CAREER TRANSACTIONS – Signed to six-year contract with Saints, (UFA), 3/16/06; Re-signed by San Diego Chargers to one-year contract as Franchise Player, 3/4/05; Designated Franchise Player by San Diego, 2/22/05; Selected by San Diego in the second round (32nd overall) of 2001 NFL Draft. So he was franchised for a year but signed as an Unrestricted Free Agent the year after that.
  17. Just for accuracy (although maybe you just mistyped): SD drafted Eli Manning #1 and traded him for the Giants' #4, Rivers. SD did NOT trade Brees. He played out his option and signed with NO as a free agent.
  18. Don't really love them, but if we were going in that direction the new torso stripes have to be wider. They look pretty wimpy/thin in your drawings. I can make myself live with navy (MUCH rather see Royal Blue), but the current road uni's I just hate out loud.
  19. "Bicknell is a 17-year coaching veteran with experience . . . A former tight end himself (Boston College 1988-91)" Wasn't JACK Bicknell BC's coach in those days? Anybody know if this is his son?
  20. We can all still dream I guess. Meanwhile I'm more pessimistic than I think I've ever been.
  21. We've been over the biggest mistake in Bills history (firing Polian) many times here, but I've never heard what happened to him in Carolina. Was he fired? Did he quit? Does anyone on this board know? Thanks in advance for legitimate answers.
