No worries mate. Go Bills.

Did you happen to read the third paragraph of the story you linked to? “We spend our time now working on things that we sort of cram in around OTAs,” Gailey said. “We’re able to take our time doing them now, which is breaking down preseason opponents and our early regular season opponents. So we’re able to get some general ideas against those teams and what they’re doing.” You might also want to try some decaf. A lighthearted observation is not a life-and-death issue.

“We’re able to take our time doing them now, which is breaking down preseason opponents and our early regular season opponents." I have to wonder how important it is to break down preseason opponents. Do we need to gameplan for the scrubbinis that come in by the second quarter?

. . . which is one reason I was happy to see Miami take Pouncey in the first round. I think he's overrated. He's not his brother. But as a #1 choice he'll play. Advantage: Bills. (And the rest of the AFC East too.)

Christian Ponder's girlfriend ......
Ennjay replied to truth on hold's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I'm getting sick and tired of people photoshopping shots of someone else's ugly by comparison face onto my wife's pictures. -
I hope Wanny makes a difference. I think the guy knows his -- stuff -- as a defensive coach and he's a good hire in his spot with the Bills (vs. HC). But I keep thinking of when Donahoe or Mullarkey or whoever it was hired Sam Wyche to personally coach Losman and we kept reading stories about how much intense time they spent working on his footwork and his reads, and no matter what Losman still wasn't an NFL starting QB. You can't make chicken salad out of chicken -- stuff. So I also have to believe in Troup and Carrington and Merriman and Batten along with the draft choices if I think they'll be better this year.

Just wondering/wishful thinking out loud . . . All teams (not just the Bills) like to introduce new uniforms by having players model them. With the labor situation the players aren't available. But former players would be. It would be pretty cool to see Kelly or Thurman or Bruce (or Andre or Talley or . . .) dressed to play again to model the new uni's.

Reorganizing The Scouting Department
Ennjay replied to ICanSleepWhenI'mDead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Geez, where to begin . . . We're going to conserve our limited resources by having our college scouts skip most of the country so they can watch high school games in the southeast? We're going to ignore the fact that even college freshmen haven't matured enough (physically) in most cases to make a difference in the NFL, so we'll get a situation like the NBA used to have for most of its kiddies (not the superstars): draftees would sign a rookie contract with someone and then leave via free agency just when they're ready to contribute? And by the way, the Lakers didn't draft Kobe out of high school. The Charlotte Hornets did, and then immediately took Vlade Divac in a trade for his rights even-up. -
I believe CTV pays the NFL a rights fee and additionally works out an arrangement with CBS to pick up a weekly feed. The cost to CTV is a lot smaller because the viewership is too. Think of how each country's broadcasters pay for Olympic broadcast rights but use common feeds for coverage.

Yeah, you have to be impressed by that Jets draft. Muhammad Wilkerson: 12th or 15th rated D-lineman in the draft, medium-to-small college competition, heir apparent to DeWayne Robertson. Kenrick Ellis: only question here is how much he'll have left when he joins the team out of stir in 7 to 20. Greg McElroy: second coming of Chad Pennington but without the arm. And then there's . . . Bilal Powell: star running back on a mediocre team in a mediocre Big East. What champsionships are made of. Jeremy Kerley, Scotty McKnight: the runback/return replacements for Brad Smith who replaced Leon Washington. Trading up! And the Jets have Braylon Edwards and Santonio Holmes locked up too. Oh wait . . .

Round 7 (Pick 245): DT Michael Jasper - Bethel (TN)
Ennjay replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And who knows better? Best thing about this pick is that I then immediately turned off my TV. And what's the single-team record for cutting to commercial just before a pick anyway? -
Round 4 (Pick 122): OT Chris Hairston - Clemson

What's this "Removed by User" I'm getting??? -
Why does the pant stripe stop like that above the knee?

I dunno, but Yogi Berra was right when he said "90% of this game is half mental." Sabreland has to be a nicer place to go to work in every day with Pegula at the top, so maybe that's it. Or maybe it's the pressure of realizing the new regime will move out the dead wood faster than the old because it will be more aggressive about finding replacements (upgrades). In any event this team is better than it was in the fall. I still don't think they have the firepower to win the Cup this year, but there's a lot to be happy about. Now if they can only sign Lindy Ruff . . .

Possible link to new uniform color
Ennjay replied to Frostbelt City's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was thinking the same thing, but I'm so bored with this year's offseason that I've decided the better thing to do is agree completely with the original post and go with this 100%. I see powder blue shirts (take that Chargers) with mauve pants (that's why the mauve is towards the bottom of the page -- unless it means mauve shoes . . . ). The logo will borrow (steal) from the Sabres' banana slug but with eyes and eyebrows for the first time. Haven't worked out the helmet yet. -
This is so Bills. Maybe Carter is a stud among studs, but this team loves to take guys that need a little something or take a little time. "He was a college DE but we see him at LB." "He was a tackle but we're moving him to guard." "If he gains weight he can play NT." "If he loses weight he can play TE." "He played against small colleges so he'll have to step up his game." "His footwork needs work." "He needs time in the weightroom." Can't we find guys in the 2nd and 3rd rounds who can already play?
-
.. which is why I always wonder/complain: why does it seem the Bills always draft guys and then change their positions? If this team takes Cam Newton they'll immediately announce he solves our problems at TE.
-
Um . . . HB - O.J. Simpson
-
Agreed. Maybe it's splitting a hair, but: There's no question, doubt, whatever, that last year's draftees will be better football players and athletes in '11 after a year of coaching, prep, weight room, film study, conditioning, etc., etc., etc. That's true whether they turn out to be Pro Bowlers or busts. The real question that can't be answered yet is whether the Bills will have a better defense BECAUSE they've had the extra year -- getting towards whether they're Pr Bowlers or busts. Wanny may have taken the Bills job because his family is staying in Pittsburgh (does he have school-age kids?) and Buffalo-Pitt is an easy commute. Who knows?

Official Buffalo Bills 2001 NFL Draft Hat
Ennjay replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wow. Such excitement. It's not just a hat, it's the draft hat. And it's not just the draft hat, it's the official draft hat. It's like it's my birthday, Christmas, Super Sunday and a NASCAR weekend all rolled into one. -
That makes Cornell Green the gift that keeps on giving.
