  1. Thanks for the fix. Yeah, I think I remember Blitzer's now.
  2. Wolf's dad ran Mastman's Deli on Hertel near Colvin for years.
  3. For those of us not in WNY: when does CBS switch us to Cinci-Balt?
  4. I think it's safe to say Lindell has not lost his job due to injury.
  5. See, this is what really confuses/scares me. If it wasn't unexpected, that what do we expect? That he can play 3 or 4 weeks in a row and then needs time off? How much -- one week, two? Or do we expect he plays until it hurts and then he's out indefinitely?
  6. Let's just acknowledge Oregon State and let it go at that, my friend.
  7. Same birthday as Jim Kelly -- it must mean SOMETHING!! And did anyone come off the Practice Squad for Toone?
  8. He reminds me so much of myself when I was that age.
  9. This really isn't that well written and there are several problems with it. The author hasn't really done his homework. To name a few: --Nobody has ever considered the Raiders' use of stickum cheating. They used it when it was legal, just like every other team in the league. It came into prominence well after the Raiders had PR'd their "rebel" reputation. --The Silver and Black has nothing to do with Art Powell. The original Raider colors in 1960 were gold and black. (Al Davis was a Chargers assistant in those days.) Davis is colorblind. When he took over in Oakland he pushed through the color change because he saw it better. --The problem with Al Davis is that he stuck with it too long and aged into the current Crazy Al. He was widely respected in the 60's, especially in the AFL. When the AFL decided to fight back after some NFL raids (including the Giants signing Pete Gogolak away from the Bills) the owners got rid of Commissioner Joe Foss and replaced him with Davis. A lot of people think the threat of Davis-led raids and salary escalation was a major factor in forcing the AFL-NFL merger. That Mobile story is nice, but the better-known one is the threatened boycott of the AFL All-Star Game in New Orleans by black players.
  10. Corey Moore! Oh wait . . . But seriously, Wang went to UVa, not VT.
  11. I agree the pre- and early-OJ years and the mid-80's were pretty grim. But in terms of how bad I felt personally, I bottomed out two years ago after the last preseason game: -- Everything Bob says is true now was true then. -- The Bills braintrust had committed to a no-huddle offense with no no-huddle personnel. -- With an awful O-line, they cut a starter. Sure Walker sucked, but who replaced him? -- With the offense a shambles, Dickie fired his O-coordinator. -- Wasn't our nominal best defensive player (Aaron Schobel) already hurt? -- And IIRC, wasn't our nominal best offensive player ("Beastmode") suspended at the start of the season? As bad as they are now, I still think Gailey is better than Jauron as HC, Nix is better than Brandon as GM, the overall staff is better, and the defense is better. Which is not to say things are good. Just not as bad as they were.
  12. . . . and at this point (August 2011) anyone with half a brain would keep a younger LeFevour over a Jordan Palmer who's never done anything and won't suddenly get any better. So he's really 4th string. I think they really are screwing him, but the fact is teams carry 4 QB's in camp. They just haven't been honest about the depth chart. I'd also be really surprised if anyone outside of the CFL or the Arena League is interested in signing Jordan Palmer.
  13. +1 Jet fans want to be an Oakland-style black hole. Giant fans don't. It's probably a self-esteem issue. +1 We're all saying the same things, I think.
  14. Agreed, but two factors that vary by team: 1. The lesser one: what kind of facilities the team has available for 80+ bodies at the start of camp 2. The greater one: the Bills use camp to market to Rochester and points east. (The NY teams don't "market" to Albany and Cortland like that.) The Bills will hold out that much longer for an offsite camp for that reason. Teams like, say, the Bears and the Packers don't care about that, but maybe teams like Cinci and Jax do.
  15. As I recall Weber was ID'd during the '10 CFB season as a sleeper who should've been drafted in like the 5th or 6th round. Anybody have any insight?
  16. I keep reading that the charging bison logo is on the pants and the back of the shirt, but I haven't seen any pictures that show them. Anybody got a link? Thanks.
  17. Also not sure how I feel, but why top 4? How does that put stronger teams in? Why not like now -- division winners get a spot and everyone else is in a conference-wide scrum? Maybe top 2 in each division with 4 "open" slots for everyone else.
  18. It's a shame Tom Sestak is considered someone who'll never make the HOF. He really was that good.
  19. Sorry to be the one to -- hey, hold those corn flakes still. I think it means the opposite: it's as long as they want to wait for new jersey sales to start without a new CBA. That is, if there's no CBA by 6/24 they'll just start selling the shirts regardless.
