  1. This goes to my perennial complaint about "national" media. Hardly anybody really follows all 32 teams. Nobody on ESPN does with the possible exception of Jaws. Pat Kirwan actually does his homework. I don't mind somebody being critical if he knows what he's talking about, but most "national" guys read up on last year's playoff teams (at most) and that's it.
  2. Saw a great "Tank McNamara" years ago that I wished I'd saved. Local College is getting ready to play Enormous State Univ. and the coach is giving the one-leg-at-a-time speech. Someone finds a hole in the locker room wall they can use to spy on the the ESU locker room. They see the ESU players practicing a drill where they jump up and put their pants on both legs at a time. In the last panel the small college guys are freaking out. It was hilarious at the time but I guess you had to be there.
  3. I'm joining the chorus: depth depth depth depth depth depth DEPTH DEPTH!!!! It's been a Bills tradition for years to run out of players. How many teams have two kickers on IR like last year? It's a joke.
  4. Sympathies to you and your family. May God bless.
  5. I was thinking about getting a Fusion when I run out of Mach 3 blades. You guys like it? And if you don't like the Giants do you have to avoid the Mara girls' movies? If you don't like the Falcons do you stay away from Home Depot? If you don't like the Packers you give up cheese? I'm serious about the Fusion question.
  6. Yeah, well, I've been a Bills fan since Ralph came over on the Mayflower in 1492.
  7. At least one thing Graham's speed gives the team: if he's in the game and he goes long, somebody has to go with him in coverage. So the underneath coverage is looser and the passing game benefits.
  8. Imagine what he would've gotten had they not signed Bo Scaife yesterday as leverage/insurance. (Your sarcasm meter here.)
  9. Exactly my thought. This man was a hero.
  10. Now I'm embarrassed. That one I should've known. (I remember Dave Ogas's number but not Mike Montler's? Dear God, what have I been putting in my brain?)
  11. So much for short-term memory too. This is what happens when you live in the Tri-State Area and only see a few games a year on TV.
  12. To be honest, I couldn't remember a 45. (Did Hagoode Clarke wear #45? And which one of his names had the extra "e"?) The only 53 I remembered was Will Grant. (Did Dave Ogas wear it too?) I didn't want to dig out the all-time roster since my point was remembering these guys.
  13. If you want to go back a little farther, Daryle Lamonica wore 12 for the Bills too.
  14. Thanks for the correction. Cookie is just on the cusp of my memory. I'm amazed how many of these guys I remember. Ben Gregory was really good until he tore up his knee. Out of Nebraska as I recall.
  15. Long-time Bills fans remember: Stephon Gilmore (27) -- Tom Janik! 102-yd interception return on Joe Namath in the Bills only win in '67. Cordy Glenn (77) -- Ben Williams, great player on weak teams T.J. Graham (11) -- (based on the last ~10 years, the less said the better) Ron Brooks (33) -- Wasn't that Cookie's number? (And don't ask "Cookie who?") Zebrie Sanders (66) -- HOF'er Billy Shaw John Potter (3) -- Pete Gogolak! His signing with the Giants was one of the events leading up to the AFL-NFL merger when the leagues needed a truce to stop the raiding.
  16. Since Denver made it as a division winner, it won't be Denver's slot. If the Broncos don't win the AFC West someone else will. It's either a wild card slot (think: Pittsburgh or Cinci or Balt steps down, and out of the playoffs) or winning the division outright. Pittsburgh looks like it's weakening but the Steelers always come up with something to stay good. I predict Baltimore will struggle because Flacco hasn't convinced me, but above all I have faith in Cinci to screw up. Dalton will fall off in his second year. I'm also optimistic about our chances in the AFC East, but predicting it . . . . I dunno. Feels like too much to swallow in May.
  17. How do you figure? He never did sign (with the Bills), so how could he count as signed before the other draft choices his original year? That's what my original bad-memory question (since it was just lat year) was about: at least it used to be that the Bills signed their #1 pick last. I think the poster who said the OBD MO is to lock up the lesser guys (Rounds 4-7) first, then the top guys in order, may be on to something.
  18. Thanks. Pardon my bad memory. With the new rookie cap there shouldn't be holdouts anymore, but I still expected #1's to sign last. Maybe that will be different too because whatever you use to sign one draft choice comes out of the pot for everyone else and a team won't want to be left short negotiating with a higher pick. I dunno . . . just making it up, but still really pleased with how well this offseason is going.
  19. For all I know it was last year, but seriously, anybody here recall?
  20. As disrespectful threads go, I've seen much worse than this one. The OP was just being curious. Nothing wrong with that. I don't think people in this thread are wishing for Ralph's . . . jeez, now you have to be so careful what you call it. I'm old enough to remember when Ralph was too cheap before he brought in Saban the second time, and before he hired Chuck Knox, and before he hired Polian/Butler, and before he hired Donahoe (say what you want he spent $$$ in the Donahoe days). But he deserves thanks for keeping the team here.
