All you have to do is find one, then you usually can't stop them. Go hang out at a USO.

Don Banks - Interesting comment on his mock draft....
Acantha replied to Kipers Hair's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That doesn't make any sense at all. No matter what you think of the front office hires, do you really think Nix and Gailey are under the impression that they are a "stop gap" administration? They were just hired and they are already planning their exit? Maybe I'm wrong about this because I dislike Banks so much and tend to disagree with everything he says, but that just doesn't add up to me. -
Holy crap...
-
Even if it had read two-gap DT, I don't think that a line saying "some think he could be" is "proof" of anything.

Completely disagree. The technique, skill set, and size/strength needed to be in a 3-4 is different from a 4-3. Why should anyone assume that someone who is good in one will automatically transition to the other? It's like assuming a WR can be a great CB. There may be those guys out there that can make the change, but it's not an easy thing to do and shouldn't be expected. Heck, you can't guarantee taking a dominant RT and transitioning him to LT in the NFL. IMO, it's a VERY dangerous pick (especially in the first few rounds) to gamble on someone playing a new position in the NFL.

Gerhardt was absolutely incredible last year. There is nothing about his game that would lead someone to believe he is a one year wonder. If Lynch is gone, Gerhardt would be my first choice to replace him. If we could get him for the pick we got for Lynch, it would be perfect.

What does this have to do with free speech? Was he thrown in jail?
-
Oh I see, since you say he can cover, that should be it then? When has he ever had the opportunity to show that he can cover like a LB? And saying the "primary function" of a 3-4 OLB is to rush is vastly over-simplifying the position. Watch some teams that run the defense and tell me that the OLB's are rushing almost every play. It's not the case. Again, I'm not saying that he absolutely can't do it. Only that acting like it's a foregone conclusion is nonsense. Just because he can get to the QB as a DE doesn't mean he can handle all of the responsibilities of being an OLB. It doesn't even mean that he would be successful rushing the QB from a new position. Why do people act like this is a game of Madden where you can just go change the settings and put a player in a new position?
-
But they're not the SAME player, are they? I'm not saying he can't do it, only that expecting him to be able to do it just because he decent stats as a 4-3 DE is absurd. It just doesn't work that way.
-
For some reason nobody seems to think so, but OLB's in a 3-4 have to do more than just rush the passer. You can't just take any 4-3 defensive end and throw them in at OLB.

A workout should flow as: Warm-up, Stretch, Workout, Stretch/Cooldown It's accurate to say that stretching cold before a workout can lead to injury, but I think recommending to someone that hasn't been working out in a while to go into those workouts without stretching is not very good advice. Sage, do some research, talk to a doctor, whatever you need to feel comfortable with what your doing.

Spikes played MLB in a 4-3. I agree they are both good players, but I don't agree that we have more depth at ILB. At OLB we have Mitchell, Harris, and Ellison. Plus guys that got playing time last season in Draft and Corto. In addition, players that are going to by trying to make the transition to OLB in Maybin and Ellis. Behind Poz, all ya really got is Palmer and maybe Buggs? I'm not saying that our OLB is great, there are a lot of question marks. But rookies are question marks too. At a minimum, we need another question mark at MLB, cause right now we don't even have that.
-
I watched plenty of games where he played poorly. He's a good OLB, was great a great recruit coming out of high school. But he does have games where he doesn't show up.
-
Can't say I'd be too happy with it. Eric Norwood is a solid OLB (though he never really maintained consistency in SC), but with the guys we have trying to transition to OLB, plus the OLB's we already have on the roster, Spikes makes way more sense there. And that's in addition to the fact that Spikes is just the more talented player. Other than Spikes there's a bunch of other players I think would be better than Norwood here, tops being Benn, Pouncey, and Fox. Zac Robinson is NOT what this team needs. It's a wasted 3rd round pick, IMO. We have guys with "iffy" potential already on the roster. If the Bills are going to use a high round draft pick on a QB (for the record, I don't think they should), it better be for a guy that actually has a good chance of being a starter in this league. We'd be much better off with Arthur Jones or D'Anthony Smith, both taken later in the round. I also don't know much about Ekom Udofia, which is strange (and probably not good) since I watched 7 or 8 Stanford games this year. In all that time he didn't stand out to me at all. That certainly doesn't mean he won't be good, but IMO I find it doubtful that a DT that isn't dominating the PAC 10 is going to fill a hole as a 3-4 NT in the NFL. I think George Selvie, Riley Cooper, and LeGarrett Blount (yeah, I said it) are all better picks there. For a 7 round mock (not an easy thing to do, especially since I doubt he knows the true situations of every team), it's not bad. But given who is available at our picks, I think he's trying too hard to fill the "position" hole instead of looking at the overall talent and additional needs of the team.

As Poojer said, ease into it. AND MAKE SURE YOU STRETCH!!! Take the time to stretch before hand and hopefully you won't have to deal with shin splints and other injuries that will slow you down. Diet: Depends on your goals. For 5k's training, you won't need to do much outside of a normal, HEALTHY diet. Watch your calories and try to balance your protein, carbs and fats. On the day of the 5k (or a longer training run), make sure to get some higher carbs to help keep your energy up through the run. Outside of that, there's nothing really special needed in a diet for running (unless you start training for marathons, in which case there is plenty of info out there on how to train). Dress: As far as clothes go, whatever is comfortable for you. Don't worry about spending any money on fancy running clothes....if it's comfortable it will work. Shoes on the other hand are a big deal if you plan on doing a lot of running. There are running clinics that can put you through a few quick tests to find out your running style and foot type and then will print out a lists of the best shoes for you. I've known a few people who have done this and they say they can feel a big difference once they were wearing the right shoes. I also recommend (though it's not necessary) to do some leg workouts in addition to running. Just doing body weight squats and lunges can go a long way. I used to do a couple hundred of each once a week, and it really helped build my leg muscle (helps you run longer and avoid injury, something I wish I had paid more attention to early on). I don't do long distance running anymore (knees can't hold up to it for more than a few miles), but I still like to do what I can. I started trail running about a year ago and enjoy that. Gives me something to focus on besides just the road in front of me. The hills, climbing, jumping, etc... also really add to the workout. In the end, I would say the important things are: Start slow Stretch A LOT Do what's comfortable for you (comfortable will mean not hurting....you will of course have to push yourself to see results)

From what I understand "Droid" is basically just the nickname given to the Android OS phones by Verizon. I realize that when someone refers to Droid, they are normally talking about the Motorola since that was the first Verizon Android phone, so for a while it was the only phone referred to as DROID, but the Eris phone is also called Droid (by HTC and Verizon). Verizon stores (or at least the one I was in) specify Droid Eris or Droid Motorola on their documentation about the phones. Maybe the explanation I was given was wrong, but I can't think of another way that HTC would be allowed to actually use "DROID" on their phone.
-
They are both Droid (just the operating system), one is made by Eris the other Motorola. I just had to change out my iphone for Verizon because I moved to an area with zero ATT coverage (not just 3G, but phone too). I went in the store and checked out the Motorola Droid and said no because of the weight. Thing was like a brick! I didn't like the keyboard much either. When I told the salesman that I changed my mind about the Droid, they told me about the Eris version and gave me one to check out. It was perfect. Great size, basically the same weight as the iPhone, and very sleek. I just got it yesterday and I'm still trying to get used to the differences, but so far I like it.

On a more serious note... Did the paper say what happened to the guy? Was he just out swimming and drowned? Good on the girl for doing what she could. Compressions in water are tough, even with a board.

You're right, that is disturbing.

Insider for NFL is almost worthless, but for college (team info and especially recruiting) it's worth it. Though they were lacking in team write-ups this year. I'm hoping they bring back the in-depth analysis of each team they had a couple years ago. If not, I may find another service after this year.

Or wait until next year and get Mallet.

RD1--Anthony Davis LT RD2--Terrence Cody DT* RD3--Rodger Saffold OG RD4--Arthur Jones DT (34 DE) RD5--Danario Alexander WR RD6--Sorry, don't know anything about either of these guys, but I guess Joseph, just based on position only. RD7--Antonio Coleman OLB34 Auburn * Pick depends on FA. If we can bring in a MLB or DT, that drives the choice. Cody is based on bringing in nobody. That's one hell of a draft. Davis takes over at LT and Saffold takes Woods place. IF Woods is able to get back, he takes over at C. The O-line is VERY solid. A 34 Defensive Line of Stroud, Cody, and Jones with Williams, Johnson, and Harvey in rotation would be excellent. I don't think you could ask for a better first 4 rounds, and it really sets the team up for the future.
