But doesn't the ugly girl get to be excited over a new dress? Let me ask you this, if you saw an ugly girl being excited over her new dress, maybe with a group of friends that were excited for her as well, would you walk up and ask what everyone was so excited for...after all, she's still ugly?? Yes. Do you even read this board? Almost every poster on this board...scratch that...every poster on the internet has this same problem. You either get over it or stop posting. Unfortunate, but true. Personally, I find it literally incomprehensible that someone couldn't differentiate style and substance being seperate issues, so your first few posts very much sounded to me like someone trying to stir up trouble. Maybe it's just as baffling to me that you didn't understand that right from the start as it is to you that people are excited over the news. I easily understand people not being the list bit interested or excited over the uniform change, just not that those same people wouldn't be able to figure out why someone could be. Everything else aside, if you do in fact read this board with any consistency, it should come as absolutely no surprise to you that you were blasted for trying to insert a opposing opinion to the groups excitement. That's as normal as the sun rising in the east. Sorry, but I find it odd that as a human living in the internet age, in addition to a professional writer, you take these things so personally.

Coy Wire gets 2 more years in Atlanta
Acantha replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My confusion isn't with the team releasing him, it's with the attitude of the fans with players like him. Like I said, losing or retaining Coy Wire wasn't that big of deal in the grand scheme of things. -
I probably saw 3 episodes of it and I thought they were all pretty funny. Definitely not a prime time, network TV show, but for TBS I thought it was alright. And I'm not sure how old she was at the time, but even then Lawrence was worth tuning in for.

Coy Wire gets 2 more years in Atlanta
Acantha replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills did end up moving him to LB before he left, and he probably did about as well as he's doing for Atlanta...decent but not certainly not great. The bigger point is something that I comment on every now and then...from a fan perspective, NOBODY is good enough to be a backup on the Bills. Despite being a cheap, good team guy who never mouthed off, a VERY solid special teams player, and a "good enough" backup LB and safety (certainly more LB than safety), people around here absolutely blasted him. Harsh, over the top criticism. They couldn't wait to see hime go. I'm pretty sure I remember the thread when he was let go...it was nothing but "good riddance" type posts. I fully get the aggravation over personnel decisions that had Coy Wire starting at safety for too long, but I'll never understand the mentality that says because someone isn't talented enought to start, they are despicable people that should be ridiculed and run out of town. Personally, I would take Wire as a special teamer and back-up LB. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's a huge loss. It's just an attitude I don't get. -
Of course you are.

Sure, but it helps the other team just as much.

ATDHE.net and channelsurfing.net seized by government
Acantha replied to Fezmid's topic in Off the Wall Archives
You can pay for it and get it online. ? The NFL offer allowed the bar (beer, broads and all) to show the game. So yes. -
I don't believe in making full judgments on draft picks until after 3 years, but even I have to admit that Maybin is almost surely a bust. I understood his troubles year 1; very young, not much playing time in college, jump to the NFL, a position that didn't suit him. But the fact that he couldn't even get on the field last year, his second year, in a position that should have fit him perfectly...that says a LOT. It will be almost miraculous if he all of a sudden takes off this year. I don't have any interest in spitting venom at him like so many seem to, it just sucks to lose out on such a high draft pick like that.

Actually the NFL made money off you anyway. Bars have to pay commercial prices to show Sunday Ticket to their customers. So in the end, the NFL did offer you another choice at a more reasonable price. -

Isn't that only if you can prove you're not able to get a satellite signal? One of the very few things our government is supposed to be spending time and money on is protecting property rights. -
Scouts critical of Bills coaching at Senior Bowl
Acantha replied to NY Nole's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought the blog was ridiculous and don't care what they guys has to say, but I think people are defending Chan for the wrong reasons. Who's most prepared and wins the game doesn't matter at all. The whole point of the senior bowl is for scouting...that's it. Sure, it's a nice cherry on top to win the game, but scouting is by far the number one priority. I haven't watched any of the practices, but I have read the same things being said on other blogs (Draftcoundown.com I remember). If what they are saying is true, he's not really helping those kids out quite as much as he should be. But again, I can't say one way or the other. -
I disagree just for this reason. Once this week is over, there will be a microscope on those other players until the draft. Film will be watched until their eyes bleed, no stone will be left unturned. Yes, it would be great to have even more info on them, but I don' see anything wrong with getting a much better look at the drafts mid-rounders. Hell, that's been the Bills' bread and butter anyway. And on a lesser note, I think giving the guys who stayed in school for 4 years the small advantage of getting to work closely with NFL coaches and make one last case for themselves is a good thing.
-
Guess that explains what happened to him. This guy was hyped as the second coming out of high school but hardly did anything at Florida. You can see his speed and athleticism when hes on the field, but we was lost most of the time.

A lot on that list that I haven't heard before, but mostly I don't see what the problem is. The writer and those quoted act like these phrases are completely out of left field and don't have anything to do with the human experience. In reality, they're just over-used and get a little annoying (though I wouldn't say that for every one of them..."let's talk that"???) Though I have to admit "110%" is a pet peeve of mine. Seriously, when did 100% become not enough to get your point across?

It's ovbious, but it's all about the quality of the food. I don't like any of the nation wide chains, but I've had decent state/region chain pizza. As Chef said, there's also a LOT of really bad Mom and Pop pizza out there, and for whatever reason I think people would rather go to the chains for bad pizza over mom and pops. Better deals, faster service, simple familiarity, more options, etc... Whatever the case may be. You have to make sure you have what people want or no matter how bad it is Pizza Hut will bankrupt you. I read an article a long time ago about how hard it is to make it in the pizza biz. Can't remember too much of it now unfortunately, but a huge portion of the article was the sauce. Apparently creating and keeping a great sauce recipe becomes like working for the CIA.

Exactly how I feel. Doesn't matter if NE wins one more, but after all the **** talking and crap the jets have thrown out there this year they end up winning the SB, it's going to be unbearable.

What is your favorite salty, crunchy snack?
Acantha replied to Mr_Blizzard's topic in Off the Wall Archives
My new favorite is Planters Dark Chocolate Forest Blend. Can't stop eating it. -
It's all the same game. Doesn't look like someone made a highlight or lowlight video, just picked the plays of one game and showed them all. Based on the video, he appears to be a one trick pony and easily contained, but one game doesn't tell the whole story on any player and I haven't seen enough of him to know one way or the other.

good news we still can draft Andrew Luck
Acantha replied to freester's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wait, do you mean it takes more than a RB to go deep in the playoffs? Gasp! AP won games for the Vikes, pretty much by himself. Of course they got better when they brought in a better QB...OF COURSE! This isn't rocket surgery! Favre wouldn't have done it by himself either. It takes a good line and playmakers all over the offense to win big, and Nix/Gailey didn't want to pass up on that playmaker at RB. I have no delusions of years gone by and RB's leading the way. I have a very real undertanding that it takes a whole team to win, and a whole team isn't built in one year, especially for a team like the Bills over a crappy FA period. -

Acantha replied to freester's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I disagree about draft philosophy, it's too general. If Adrian Peterson was there with our pick last season, (with the same level of DL and OL talent) you take him. I think there's more to that than just who he brought in. Nix was dealing with a **** storm of a team and the worst free agency list in a decade. Before and during FA, there wasn't single player that I thought we HAD to get, or even should have given the full court press to. That being the case, I can't fault him for not bringing in impact players. Not to one of the worst teams in the league in what is at least perceived to be one of the worst cities in to play in. In a year with so few players the only way to bring people in to that situation is to WAY overpay. And following the Donahoe path to NFL greatness just doens't seem like a promising choice. I agreed with most of the decisions he made about who stayed and who went (and I'm especially interested in this years decisions in that regard). Again, I agree that Kelsay wasn't a great move given the switch to the 3-4, but I also don't make judgements off of one move. I refuse to judge his draft yet, especially since he's known to be an excellent judge of college talent. Spiller, Troupe, and Carrington have time as far as I'm concerned, and if they turn out to be good picks, they're going to be excellent for the core of the team.
