The first year of 18 games the Bills would be in the playoffs after 16, then lose the final two and get knocked out. Any change only offers new ways for the Bills to rip my heart out.

Nix Doesnt believe it trading down

You should believe the quotes that Nix actually gave and not the writers interpretation. And the link is very clearly given in the paragraph you referenced. Sorry that's so confusing. -

Check the link that's referenced in that article, or my post in this thread. He doesn't actually say that. -

Except Nix never said that, unless there's a link you can provide. -
There's a documentary streaming on Netflix called The Worlds Most Dangerous Drug explains all about the affects of Meth. Crazy stuff.

By the way, the link in the original post was a snippet from another article that didn't exactly get the whole point across. Relevant parts: -

I'm not really sure I get this. He's saying that if they player they want is available at the pick they have, they are going to take him? Lunatic. -
I know some can, just noted the Xbox and PS3 can't. IMO, that's a pretty big deal business wise. I know a lot of people that stream that way. Also, I can watch movies that are rented or bought on my PS3, just not the streaming. You have to be able to add them to your library before you can get to them.
-
If you have an Xbox or PS3 (and probably more...haven't looked up other option) and want more streaming, check out Playon. With what the program offers and the plugins that are available, it's more than worth it. They have deals on price plans all the time, I got in on a $20 a year plan. Even lets you stream ESPN3 and NFL Rewind to your TV.
-
From what I can tell it doesn't work with PS3 or Xbox. Amazon's going to have to get more device support if they want a bigger piece of the market. I have Amazon Prime, but probably won't bother if I can't stream to my TV, and I wouldn't buy a new player just for that service. Maybe they'll catch up soon...

I loved them the first time around, but my guess is this will crash and burn.

I love seeing him around too, but honestly Survivor is king of cheap rating tricks. Seriously, how long are they going to keep milking Russel and Rob?

This happened in Hawaii a couple years ago. The school district said they were out of money and came up with the forced holiday (can't remember the term used) plan where the schools shut down for on Friday every few weeks without pay (17-18 days total through the year if I remember right). The teachers went nuts, protested and started doing the organized sick day crap. Finally the school board came out and said, "Okay, we understand why you wouldn't want this. Instead, starting next school year, we will be cutting XXX number of jobs to get us inside our budget." It wasn't 24 hours before the teachers signed off on the monthly holiday. Of course then the parents protested because they had to hang out with their kids for an extra day each month (just kidding...child care issues did become a problem).

Once upon a time, yes, but not anymore. I've just seen it fall apart too many times. The problem with keeping the strongest players in the game is two main things: 1. Individual immunity starts and now all of the strongest players are getting it every week. 2. EVERY PLAN MADE BEFORE THE MERGE GOES TO CRAP WHEN THE MERGE HAPPENS! Honestly it amazes me how people are constantly surprised when they get blindsided after the merge. Doesn't matter how much sense your plan makes and how everyone involved would be guaranteed to benefit from it, half of them will find a way to screw it up. So you have the combination of no trust amongst alliances and the strongest players in every man for themselves mode. Bad strategy all around if you ask me. IMO, while he's gone about it the wrong way which screwed it up at the end, Russel has set the strategy that should be emulated in this game. You start getting rid of your competition the second the game starts. They should be playing mind games on the helicopter ride in! Right now, both of those teams should be doing everything in their power to get rid of Rob and Russel. Instead, most of these chickens are sucking up and hoping to ride their coattails! Have they never watched the show? Haven't they seen both of these players in their interviews talking about how stupid everyone is for not voting them off? Hello???
-
The only thing that matters is staying on the game. Get the numbers on your side as quickly as possible and stay as long as you can. The whole "keep the strongest players until the merge" strategy has failed every time. For exactly this reason.

Kind of worse.

Actually, I didn't think it was too bad of a strategy given what she was working with. Francesca wasn't giving in about Natalie and the idiot wouldn't listen to anything anyone was saying. Because it was 5 on 3, the only way she was going to get them to vote with her was to tell them about the idol and then try to figure out who the 5 were voting for, use the idol, and have their three votes count toward who they wanted. The biggest problem is her partners are idiots. The ONLY move in that situation was to vote off Rob. You have to get rid of not only the best player, but the leader of your opposition. Francesca wanted to get rid of Natalie for no apparent reason (jealous?)so she was screwing up the vote. I won't even go into the "Fed". If she could have gotten those two in line, it could have been a Russel type move. Instead it turned into an embarrassment and she's almost definitely gone the next time they go to tribal.

Decent try, but the capital N gave it away.

Ha...didn't know that. Good stuff. I definitely agree the move away from the dollar will be more gradual, but I guess I just don't see it the same that the rest of the world has to make sure it's a soft landing. I just think the overwhelming speed that we are devaluing the dollar is going to motivate these countries to cut ties and deal with the aftermath as best they can. And as I kind of said before, even if it is a very soft landing, is the US capable of learning how to survive on a level playing field? I'm sure that like all things, we'll find a way, but it's going to be after some very bad times and I doubt we're the same country when it's over.

If you could have only had one, which would it be

This was exactly the "over-think" I was expecting. I wasn't trying to be sneaky! I honestly can't make up my mind between QB and DL. Defense is obviously hurting more, but if you can get that great QB to lead your team I just don't think you can pass it up. Even though I've been shouting for Defense, when I asked myself the question I chose Kelly, which made me re-think my stance. Obviously it doesn't reall matter anyway because as far as I can tell this draft doesn't hold the next Smith or Kelly. -
The Euro argument is a good point and may very well be the case in the near future. But I do think China changes things. I honestly think they're big and bad enough that what China wants, China will get (economically speaking of course). Though for the record, the only reason I brought up China having things to sell is because that makes it more plausible that they can recover from dumping dollars despite how deep they are, not because that would be why the rest of the world would follow. But like you said, who knows?
-
Wouldn't you think they would want to do it on their own? This thread seems to be focusing on the 18 month timeline, which is valid, but I think given an alternative most countries would welcome the option of getting out of the dollar. Why would anyone want money that loses value so quickly? China is of course a big puzzle piece. They have so many dollars that changing would put a pretty a big hurt on them, but holding the dollar is going to be almost as bad...just in longer terms. And while no country would want to bring that type of pain on themselves, China is at least in very good position in to get themselves out of that pain. Unlike the US, China actually has things to sell! No matter the timeline, if another reserve currency is available, our economy is going to tank. We may not get those trillions of dollars flooding back into the system as quickly as the article makes it out, but printing those next hundreds of trillions needed to keep us afloat is going to be next to impossible. Just wait until the oil producers decide to jump ship.
