  1. Yeah, I'm not too sure about him either. Based on what I've read, I want to compare him to Winfield (tough guy that can play the run, not super speedy but a good technician, good at breaking up passes, but not so much interceptions), but it doesn't sound like he can stick the way Winfield did. If he's able to stick with his man in the slot, I think it's a good pick. If he's getting beat on short routes, he'll have to move to safety and I'd have to say it's wasted pick.
  2. Honestly I think Chan just misspoke. Seemed like he was trying to talk about the interior and just stuck "tackles" in there by mistake.
  3. Yeah, everyone on this board is well aware of your crusade. Really no reason to go into again. The fact that no matter who is else is taken you go off every time a DB is drafted is insane. Wood and Levitre brought in? Damn them for taking Byrd. Dareaus and Sheppard? Idiots for taking a DB. Again, I'm not extremely excited about the pick, but saying it isn't a filled need is incorrect. I also think that he is better value than any of the remaining OT's. In fact, I don't think there was a starter left at OT at that point, so bringing in another wouldn't have upgraded the position at all. We definitely needed help at LB, and that was filled in the 3rd. See, I can get over the fact that I didn't want a CB there and actually see the whole picture. That's the difference in our positions.
  4. Yes, you're out of line. First, you REALLY have to be trying hard to hate if you're going to believe ANYTHING Bill friggin Belichick says a couple hours before the draft starts and while he's trying to increase the value of his pick! Seriously, this is just over the top inane. Second, IF teams were trying to jump up into that slot for a QB (what he said in his interview), they were trying to do so to jump the Bills who also had a need at that position. Those same calls wouldn't have been there. The teams that wanted QB's got them right after the Bills picked. This isn't to say they had no opportunity to trade down, only that you're reason for thinking so is flawed. Also, assuming BB was telling the truth, the trades obviously weren't good enough to take, right? You don't take a bad trade down just so they can satisfy you're anti-CB obsession. I wasn't ecstatic about the pick, but it WAS a need. It also got a lot better when they ended up getting the guy I wanted anyway in the third round. Bill, you're seriously out of line if you think that just because they took a CB in the second it somehow negates taking the best DL in the draft and one of the best LB's in the draft. But hey, just IMO.
  5. If Brantley succeeds in the pro-system their setting up in FL he's going to be a hot commodity. It'll have to be a big turn around after last years fiasco in Florida. Also would be a big boost to the class if Barkley comes out early. I have a feeling he'll stay as a senior in order to be able to compete in a bowl game and get away from Luck's shadow, but who knows. Anyway, with all of the QB's taken this year, it's great for Buffalo long term. Great draft this year so far and a good early outlook for next season...I finally think we're heading in a good direction!
  6. Apparently Mallet will be a Patriot.
  7. One of the few players I know a lot about in this draft, and I really like the pick! If Poz is signed, I'm happy with the starting LB's. Still no depth...but it's a step in the right direction. Mallet in the 4th?
  8. I agree it's a need, I just would have rather filled other needs first...closer to the line. Two things: 1. We HAVE to start re-signing our CB's. Florence should be signed, but at least he isn't a draft pick. McKelvin needs to get signed and they better plan on signing Williams again. We just can't keep doing this! 2. Here's hoping Greg Jones is available in round 3.
  9. Seems he's listed as both. I checked 2 sites the first time that listed him as OLB...just checked 3 more and 2 had him as ILB, 1 as OLB. His size would seem to indicate ILB.
  10. I think you're being you're overly dramatic self in respect to the RB...hopefully tongue in cheek. As far as I know Ayers and Wilson are both strictly OLB. Foster and Sheppard seem to be the consensus top two ILB. What I've read on Irving is mid-round. Don't know anything about him.
  11. Not just run D...those guys will completely blow up the pocket. Million dollar arm and a ten cent head. He hasn't had time to prove me right or wrong yet due to injury, but until he does I'll keep insisting he is WAY overrated. He is not the guy you want on the field with a big game on the line....unless you're an opposing safety.
  12. I think you can pretty much discount RB, but the only LB's listed were OLB. I'd guess ILB or OL. Hoping for ILB, though if there's an immediate starter at RT available I'd be all for it (doesn't seem to be an agreed upon OT starter left).
  13. The more I think about it, the more disgusted it makes me. Those 3 girls, who have done NOTHING the whole game but absolutely bow down to Rob (to the point of demeaning themselves) could have taken over the game and gone to the last 3. Blindside Rob and you have the numbers over the two pairs left over. Take out Grant as soon as possible and get rid of the other 3 the rest of the time. But not only did they not take that opportunity (or, according to the footage shown, even CONSIDER IT), they ran to Rob, curtsied, and told him all about it. This has to be the worst season I've watched.
  14. NFL Network streams the draft. Watch both.
  15. Based on what I saw of him, I think Kelvin Sheppard is worth this pick and can upgrade our defense. I don't know much about him, but it seems Mason Foster is rated higher by just about everyone, so I assume he's a solid pick at this point too. If what you say is true (I'm more inclined to believe it's just a down year), it would seem this is a good time to get one.
  16. Yes, these are meaningless. But in their defense, the grades aren't only supposed to represent how good an NFL player the teams got. It's a grade on their performance in the draft....what value based on their rankings teams were able to get with their picks, how well those picks fit needs, etc... The fact that nobody knows how the players will do long term makes them overly subjective and hence meaningless, but the rankings are more about the teams than the players. And of course "wow" impacts your grade, good or bad. That said, given his talent and the Bills' needs, the Dareus pick can't be anything but a solid A. Anyone that says anything else is over thinking it. Pretty sure they grading round 1 of the draft, not the whole draft.
  17. Has Bowers been forecasted to 3-4 OLB at all? Might be missing due to the LB's not being visible? Though there was a lot of talk yesterday that some teams that viewed his knee condition as degenerative had completely taken him off their boards.
  18. Can't believe those idiot girls didn't consider taking out Rob. Would have been the PERFECT time. Russell was right, these people just make the game sad.
  19. Again, I think it comes to need vs value. I think the OLB's available are better, but ILB fills a bigger need (IMO, it's a MUCH bigger need right now). Can't really go wrong with either pick, but I think with whoever they deem the best ILB, Poz becomes the supporting ILB instead of the leader which suits him much better and really solidifies the run defense. We obviously still need more QB pressure, but I really think the presence of Darius goes a long way in that respect. Puts a lot of pressure on Merriman to stay healthy, but I think it's a better gamble.
  20. This is why I just don't see that being the pick. Personally, I think Dalton will be a pretty good pro down the line (he needs to sit for a while), but I think he'll be similar or a little better than Fitz. Can't see spending a pick on such a similar player (smart, decent/not great arm). I have my doubts about Mallet, but at least that pick would be for a player with totally different potential than Mallet. I think he has high bust potential, but with that arm, if Gailey can coach him up, he could be the most intimidating QB in the league (long shot or not). I think there are some great LB's available (I was really hoping for Sherrod ), so while I won't be pissed about a QB pick, I'm hoping against it at the moment.
  21. Mike would likely play guard, and he is as good as his brother. Good pick.
  22. Not sure what my feelings are about Mallet, to be honest. But I don't like the idea of him going to Miami. No matter what happens with him, I don't want that arm on the phins.
  23. That's going to be the toughest middle in the league.
  24. There's a 40 page thread that can catch you up.
