I think people learned patience with that series, but that all started in a different time. BTW, those books are done. There are so many great books out there I never know where to start when recommending one. I'll just throw out my favorite of all time, Ender's Game. It's impossible for me to tell at this point whether this book is really as great as I think it is or if it has more to do with it being a favorite from my childhood, but I re-read it about every two years and love it every time. AJ, knowing your taste in movies, I think you would love it. It's one of those books you won't put down and is an easy read. Great book to get you started into reading again before jumping into bigger/more complex stories.

Beating the Pats all revolves around hitting Brady. If you can get pressure and hit him with a 4 man rush (and the occasional blitz), you can beat them. If not, they'll slice you up. Miami just couldn't get to him.

Don't get too giddy over that win

That actually had nothing to do with the Bills. And everything he said was exactly right. -
Go ahead and explain that. Feel free to PM me.

Guess you're right. Though that doesn't really make sense given the post he responded to.

Don't know if it was the last time, but it looks like they were blacked out at least 3 times in 2010. Link EDIT: Looks like that was the last time. They had one other home game, against the Pats, and a local restaurant owner bought out the remaining tickets to avoid the blackout. Not MUCH different than what the Browns did.

Very good argument against the whole "Evans was cut to save money" argument. Thanks. Really? You can't wait until after he's cut lose to make this argument?

Yes. On the practice squad. How stupid can they be.

We need to have more points on the scoreboard than the other team when the game ends.

There could be nothing better than for Netflix's stock to take a hit and for Netflix to struggle from here on out to remain competitive. It will be a lesson for companies like this who have really good things going and decide they can do whatever they want and the consumer will follow like zombies. Unfortunately, that's too often the case, and it will only continue as long as consumers allow it. I still have a Netflix account, but like you I'm looking elsewhere and will likely jump ship as soon as I get a better feel for other providers.

I feel I need to say this.....

I've never cared one way or the other. When a quarter of our team has been on the injured reserve in years past, those losses don't have asterisks next to them; they're just losses. I'll be happy with 1-0 no matter who's on the other side of the field. We need to beat the team on the field. -

You're thinking of DB Sweeney. But he played in the movie Dinosaur, so the confusion in this case is understandable. -

Dynamite. Which now that I think about it must be what triggered the memory. Ahh, good times. -

I'm pretty sure your older than me and that's why you don't remember all of these things. Andy was white, but was usually dressed in different shades of black, white and beige. -

Not sure why, but this reminds me of all the times Barney tried to kill Andy in order to be sheriff. Modern sitcoms just don't compare. -

Seriously? You trust a Wiki reference over these guys? -
If Richt doesn't get it together very quickly, he's going to lose his job. Too bad, as he won't get use all those new toys he recruited this year. I haven't seen the game, but I'm surprised to see the score of the LSU/Oregon game. With all the crap going on down there, to go to Oregon and win that big says a lot...mostly that I really hate Les Miles. But anyway, I still think Alabama is the team to beat again this year and has the inside track to the title.

If I'm picking a winner, I'd pick Boise. A Georgia win just doesn't fit my idea of "upset". As I was saying, if it's just a spread pick, it makes sense. But I think of "upset" as a bigger deal.

You're making some pretty big jumps there. What's hard to understand about this: 1. Evans isn't making a big difference on this team right now. He's getting older, he's got a big contract, and his one major skill set doesn't really jive with the system. He doesn't NEED to go, but there's just no point in having him here for the money. 2. Ralph or Nix/Gailey make the decision that he should be traded. Get something for him now, let the young guys get more time, and let him use his experience and speed on a team that wants it. Everyone gets what they want. 3. Overdorf is put in charge of the trade details. That's what he does as the money man, negotiate trades and contracts. Am I the only one that not only figured this was how it would work but also thought this is exactly what the JW article meant? Maybe this isn't at all what happens, but it certainly fits into the JW article and what NGU says. Unless JW wants to clarify his article, why is this in argument? -

If you say so. -
There's a big difference between the positions and how they perform in preseason. Aiken was making very good catches, in traffic, with some of the worst throws seen in preseason football (Thigpen's). Now if he was wide open on all of his plays, that would be another thing. I don't think this is a situation where the Bills made some huge mistake and let a guy go who should be the #2 WR right away. I just think that Aiken showed some real skill and hope that the Bills give him a chance on the practice squad to get better. Given what he showed in preseason, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see some better stuff out of him next year.

Man, you are REALLY stretching things trying to make your point. -
Can't say I'm surprised by Thigpen sticking around...just disappointed. Though I'll hold out hope that they just think Thigpen is better than Brown due to experience, but will pick up a QB in FA to replace Thigpen. Also surprised by Hangartner being released. He was never great, but seems like makes a good backup center. Naaman and Aiken gone and Martin still around just seems wrong, but at that point in the depth chart I'm sure there's more in consideration than how they looked in pre-season games.

What is the criteria for upset? Is it just the spread? Personally I don't see USF over ND or UGA over Boise as upsets.
