  1. Yeah, I understand that he's still not done with his recovery and he has to test things out, but the article read to me as if the 50/50 number was prior to the surgery, and he's progressed since then.
  2. The way it read to me was that prior to the surgery he had a 50/50 chance of playing again and apparently the surgery went well enough that he's on the right side of that. I think this kind of thing really puts into perspective the bitching some fans do about players that don't just "walk it off" and play through injuries, like the Watkins situation a few weeks ago.
  3. Their decisions don't have anything to do with how they are doing as owners? Sorry, not on the same page. I wasn't grading them on how well Rex is doing, I graded them on their decision as owners to be the ones to hire a head coach. As owners, you hire a football guy for that job (either bringing in a new one or keeping Whaley). Even if the Rex hire turns out to be great over the next couple of years, that ownership decision was a mistake. As you said, you hire a guy to do the job (run the team) and get out of his way.
  4. I gave them a C because I see it opposite. I think they made a huge mistake making the decision to hire the head coach. Either they should have gone all out to find a really good top football guy once Polian backed out (Polian would have been a bad hire IMO, so not sure their plan B would have been any better), or made the decision that Whaley was their true GM and let him make the decision. It really felt like they went into the whole deal with the idea of hiring Polian, and when that fell through they panicked. Letting Whaley and Rex get out there and make deals and spend money to get their guys was great and exactly what I expect an owner to do, but I really feel like the Rex situation (both the hire and the chain of command) is a mess, and a pretty important one.
  5. He was a weird one when it came to the Bills job. They were interviewing people left and right and there were rumors that he had talks with the Bills, and even some unsubstantiated rumors that he was a likely hire (kind of sounded like agent BS), but at the same time denials from various outlets that he had interviewed at all. He was the guy I wanted, so I'm interested to see him end up somewhere so I can see how right or wrong I was. Much like the Bills, my success rate picking good potential head coaches is pretty dismal.
  6. I agree about how his defense will perform with his players, but because of his shortcomings as a head coach, I don't think it will matter. I just don't believe you can run a team the way he runs it and be successful long term as a head coach. So no matter how well his new players perform, I still think he'll be out and we'll be looking to replace them again. Eh, I'm really not even suggesting anything other than my own worry. Despite my low expectations for him, I don't really condone firing a guy after one year. In the meantime, there's nothing to do but try to get him the personnel to fit system.
  7. First, Whaley has said over and over, no matter what the specific topic, that there is internal debate and disagreements, but once a move is made they all need to be on the same side publicly. Do you honestly think that Whaley would come out after his new boss (who was apparently on the fence about keeping him in the first place BTW) hired a new head coach and say that he was against the move? Talk about revisionist history! Look at everything that came out of OBD and the media while the hiring process was going on and tell me where there is anything indicating that Whaley's opinion was going to be a deciding factor.
  8. This is what worries me. I said above that I'm basically never on board with firing a head coach after one season, and while it's hard to overcome that feeling, this situation at least gives me pause. This defense has so much talent, but Rex is going to want to start tearing it down to rebuild in his own way. Of course that's what most coaches do and what any GM should do for his head coach, but taking into account Rex's overall upside, I just think we're going to be losing a good thing only to get personnel to fit Rex's scheme just in time for another HC to get hired.
  9. I don't think you can have two people doing these things. Either Rex changes and becomes that guy, or you find a new guy that can do it. Rex has shown very clearly who he is. He had the chance to come to the Bills and fix what didn't go right with the Jets, but he is the same exact coach. He had the opportunity over the bye week and the long week after TNF/before MNF to make changes to his defensive game plan that would take advantage of his personnel strengths, and he basically came out with the same exact strategy (with a few more blitzes thrown in to pacify the crowd). He seems like a great guy, but I don't believe he will change his ways or allow someone else to come in to override his decisions. I'm basically never on board with firing a head coach after one year. Unfortunately in this case I think it just means more of the same until it's decided that Rex is Rex.
  10. What a load of BS. If there was one "fact" that was made clear in the offseason it was that Whaley was not in charge of hiring the next head coach. Over and over again it was stated that he was bringing in the candidates for the Pegulas' to interview and hire.
  11. It all comes down to the hip injury. I still remember thinking that he quit on The Comeback game when it was going so badly. Said he had a hip injury that kept him out, but he seemed alright jumping around on the sidelines as the game progressed. Same lingering injury supposedly took him out of the Super Bowl too, though he played through the games in between I think.
  12. Rousey is still a promotion machine. The rematch will probably break records.
  13. Do I really need to believe that Roman/TT are incapable of dialing up a short passing game to counter these blitzes?
  14. Yeah, I know it gets stupid complaining about stuff like that, but Aaron stabbing a basically jello mold zombie in the head to kill it just went overboard to me. I guess my main point is more that the writers could have easily had a more normal zombie, not one that was completely decayed and brings up that question. To me, it's a sign that they don't care about the story which they set up to begin with. If they didn't want that world to have a sense of realism, they could have left out the CDC explanation all together.
  15. I'd say Darryl makes more sense. First, nobody really cares that much about Morgan for his death to be that meaningful. Second, Darryl has been an extra throughout the whole show. There's always rumors that the writers have been stumped with what to do with him because he's not part of the normal storyline, but he's so popular they don't want to kill him off. If you're trying to set up someone as the ultimate bad guy, there's no better way to do it. Third, Darryl has hardly been a part of the show since mid-last season, and his character is now all about making Alexandria work and finding people to bring back...perfect set-up. On a different note, something that is starting to bug me more and more about the whole walker thing is how they seem to be saying there is no natural death for walkers. Even the most minor damage to the brain (like Jessie hesitantly poking the knife through that lady's eye) is enough to put them down on the spot, but complete disintegration of body tissue (like the walker that Maggie kills in the sewer) isn't enough to degrade the brain to that same point?? Exactly when does the brain rot enough to stop a walker?
  16. So this thread pretty much sucks now.
  17. It's impossible to know for sure, but it sure looked like he let up at the end. The problem for him is that he's not the ref. Just because he let up doesn't automatically mean TT wouldn't have been able to get loose and get rid of the ball if he hadn't let up.
  18. I think the right call was made, but I can see the issue from Suh's perspective. IMO, he did not have control of him. He had a good grip, but TT never stopped moving and was spinning/pulling away. Suh definitely let up, whether that was because he was worried about the horse collar or another personal foul is hard to say. The NFL has gotten so out of control on these types of calls it makes it almost impossible for a defensive player to make the right the call in the heat of the play. I actually commend Suh for trying to make the right call for his team (can you imagine Hughes doing that??), but he made a mistake.
  19. Lots of idiots all over the place.
  20. Couple things about Keurig: 1. Keurig now makes K-Mugs in addition to K-Cups for the 2.0. They advertise the K-Mugs as 16oz, but there's not setting on the machine that I can find (I've checked them all) that goes above 14oz, but it's still way better than the 8oz K-cups that were worthless to me. They're pretty new, and the only ones I've seen for sale so far are through Keurig. 2. If you look for coupon codes online and pay attention to the deals on Keurig, you can get the cost down. Between codes and free shipping on orders over a certain amount, I get the cost down to about 85 cents a cup. Of course that's more than traditional brewing, but a lot less than buying your cup on from a vendor. 3. The 2.0 also comes with a carafe option in case you need it occasionally, which is good to have.
  21. No, HOAs need to die a painful death. It really amazes me that people are so willing to give up their rights to autonomous land ownership. HOAs stem from everyone's fear and reluctance of dealing with their neighbors, or basically any difficult issue that requires them to actually get involved and confront something. So hey, let's put all the decisions on an untouchable group of people, who regularly let the rules get insanely out of control, just so that we don't have to feel uncomfortable. The biggest problem at this point is that they are almost everywhere and spreading fast. If you want to live in any type of urban area above the level of slum, you're likely going to be dealing with an HOA, or will be soon enough. Hell, it's hard enough to find land in rural areas that don't have covenants in place by some state or land ownership committee. I've been able to avoid them so far, but I still have one more planned move ahead of me in about 3 years. I really hope I'm able to find the home I'm looking for outside of an HOA. My guess is I'll have to settle for something else in order to actually have some control over my property.
  22. The NFL is exaggerating everything about that game. The propaganda during the pregame was horrible. You would think if they really wanted this London thing to take off they would have picked two higher profile teams.
  23. That's pretty crazy. There's plenty of older women who look great "for their age", but she really does looks like she's in her 20s.
  24. Man, HOA's need to die.
  25. No telling how he would have done here, but he was the guy I wanted. Most everyone, from fans to media (and obviously all the teams in the league with HC vacancies) disagreed! Also, I'm not sure Schwartz would have stuck around. I think he wanted the HC position and probably would have bailed on anyone who got that over him. Just speculation though.
