  1. I agree that MLB is an important piece to this defense, and I have to argue that Okoye is the must pick if he is there. IMO the defense has 3 huge question marks...MLB, CB, and DT. Given the players that are currently on the team, DT at least has some potential based on two rookies getting better after being in the system for a year. MLB could possibly be filled by Crowell, but that would leave a whole at OLB (again, the potential is there for Ellison who showed some good signs). CB on the other hand is just plain horrible right now. McGee is not a number one CB, I don't care what anyone says, and Ashton hasn't played yet. They NEED to upgrade CB. As things stand now, I would have to say CB is addressed first, with LB in the second....and this is from someone who hates to say that because I don't think there is a CB in the draft worthy of the 12th pick.
  2. What exactly are the same mistakes? Not trying to put any focus on the Dline...like drafting two DT's (one in the first round) and re-signing guys they think have a good future like Kelsay? Or maybe not doing enough to upgrade the Oline, like moving guys around to find the best position for them and making big attempts to upgrade with veteran FA's? No, maybe not. Maybe it's going out of there way to sign the name guys that will put asses in the seats no matter if they fit any kind of scheme or plans for the future based on on those schemes. This front office may fail miserably over the next two or three years, but judging them based on the performance of past GM's and coaches, who they so far have very little in common, shouts of nothing more than ridiculous attempts to B word and moan about SOMETHING....ANYTHING!!!! And giving them no time (it's still too early to judge IMO, and you were making these same arguments last offseason anyway) to actual bring change and focus and SOME kind of direction to this team only furthers that.
  3. It would be great if they brought them both in to split the load.
  4. Yep, and Marv and Jauron sure have had MORE than enough time to build the team they want. Not to mention have proven through years of consistent offseason moves and strategy that they have no idea how to get this team to be what they want.
  5. Sure. I've seen plenty of people say that half a rookie season isn't enough to judge someone on, and that he shouldn't be discounted based on very limited play. I have not heard that everyone thinks he will be REALLY good. In fact, based on the Wall talk, I would be more inclined to believe he is a bust and Marv screwed up by drafting him.
  6. Oh yeah? Haven't heard that one.
  7. This thread is insane.
  8. Still haven't seen this anywhere, but (from insider): Grade 49 Expert's Take: Hankton was Jacksonville's fourth receiver, but offered little production in this role and has just eight catches in each of the past two seasons and played in just four games in 2006. He battled hamstring injuries for much of the season and isn't very durable overall. He is too often is fighting one injury or another. Hankton has decent size with a pretty strong body and is a good special teams player. He is tough and goes over the middle. Hankton has decent quickness and is a smooth athlete. He is inconsistent catching the ball with his hands and too often allows it into his body. He lacks big play speed and has a very difficult time gaining separation, even though he is a sound route runner. Hankton has little upside as a receiver, but is a solid contributor on special teams, which has earned him a roster spot. Explanation of score: 40-49: Below Average Backup/Core Special Teamers Strictly a backup player who is not capable of starting. If forced to, he is only a short-term fix. ... He might make the roster because of special-teams contributions or experience. ... He is the type of player teams consistently look to replace with an upgrade. ... He always will be a borderline roster player.
  9. I agree with most of your post, but it was a bit pitchy.
  10. It hasn't been said one way or the other, but I really have the feeling Spikes asked for the trade. After what happened with Vincent and the way he spoke out against it, I think his heart isn't here anymore. Also, I think if he had wanted to be here, he would have had some very negative comments about being on the trade block. Given the cap room and the circumstances, I think this is his idea.
  11. Without all the codes, at this point right now (McGahee and Spikes still on the team), I think Marv's sights will be set on CB, ILB, OLB, RB, and WR...in that order. (not draft order, just order of importance) Outside of late round draft picks or cheap/depth related FA's, I think we are done with OL, I think the current group of DT's are going to get another year to prove themselves, Royal will be the man at TE, and AS, Denney, Kelsey, and Hargrove will be the starting DE rotation. CB and ILB are obvious, and I think we will be looking for OLB, RB, and WR's to groom for next year. Of course RB and OLB level of importance go up if any trades happen.
  12. Why does it matter? Who cares?
  13. Bills | Whittle will visit team Friday Thu, 1 Mar 2007 22:43:52 -0800 Judd Zulgad, of the Star Tribune, reports free agent OG Jason Whittle (Vikings) will visit the Buffalo Bills Friday, March 2.
  14. The way things stand right now, he's starting. We'll see where things go from here.
  15. Who says we wouldn't make a splash in FA??? GO MARV!!!!
  16. With the signing of Kelsay and Hargrove, no way would I want to use our first round pick on another DE, even one as good as Anderson. He may be an upgrade, but you just don't put that much money into one position. Outside of Anderson and Jarrett, I would be really happy with the other guys. I picked Levi though.
  17. I've seen this guy play a few times...he's a friggin LOAD! I don't know how he would do as a blocker, but he is a tough runner and can't help but pick up a tough yard or two. If there were ever a player to fill a Bettis type role on a team, this would be the guy.
  18. I didn't see the drill, but I have actually seen him play the game. He's going to be a good back.
  19. BTW, I want Leanord.
  20. Wynn has heart and has shown the ability to make big plays, but as a FL fan I wouldn't want him on my pro team too. That guy would disappear for huge stretches and had just as many run into the pile and fall type plays as he did good runs. He should be a late round pick, so if they were able to pick him up in rnd 5 or later it would be a good move based on potential, but no earlier than that.
  21. YES!!! Dammit people!!! While we are sitting here talking about Willis...we are totally ignoring talking about the D! Do you know the potential ramifications of our misdirected conversations????
  22. I may have missed it, but I haven't heard that. All I've seen is that Willis is looking for a long term deal. Doesn't mean he will hold out.
