Because since Jauron has been here he's proven that he will do anything to overload the team with CB's? Our pass defense was crap last year in part because we didn't even attempt to replace Clements, yet of course I see how that translates into the whole Buffalo Bills organization being intent on drafting a CB in the 1st round, whether the talent is there or not. Or overspend in FA for that matter. NOT re-signing Clements and instead spending huge chunks of cap space on offensive lineman was a pretty transparent attempt to trick the fans and the rest of the league into not being able to see the pure obsession that the Bills have with CB's.

A Vilma trade has been talked about in a few places, like ESPN and CBSportisline (I think it was them). Apparently he isn't adjusting to the 3-4 as well as the coaches would like, and his name has been floated. You're right, I don't think there is a chance they would trade him within the division, but the topic isn't as far off as you are trying to make it out to be. EVERY SINGLE TOPIC ON THIS BOARD is nothing more than conjecture and random discussion. It ALL means nothing. Why do you have a problem with someone bringing up ANOTHER off the wall suggestion?
-
I didn't read the links, so I'm just going by what your saying. If this scenario presented itself, I would do it in a second. To get a MLB like Vilma and still have a 1st round pick? That's a great deal, IMO. Not to mention, the likely scenario that has a top DT falling to us likely means that San Fran took Willis instead of Branch. There will still be some nice picks available with the Jets spot.

Wearing a hat during the National Anthem

Yeah, but you probably don't use a hose and your bare hand either. -
Wearing a hat during the National Anthem
Acantha replied to OnTheRocks's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I didn't ask why people do it. I asked why it's considered disrespectful not to do it. There's a difference. People do it because that's what people do. Like you said, "because, that's why". But why is it disrespectful? That's what doesn't make sense to me. It's such a random thing. It's like saying leaving your contacts in when the shuttle takes off is disrespectful. In some Asian countries you take your shoes off before going in someone's house. It's considered disrespectful not to because you are bringing in dirt to someones home. In many countries it's disrespectful to touch someone with your left hand because it's the hand they wipe with. In the US, it's disrespectful to leave your hat on when the Anthem is playing because.....someone told us so??? -
Wearing a hat during the National Anthem
Acantha replied to OnTheRocks's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Serious question: What is disrespectful about wearing a hat? I honestly have never understood it. And I'm hoping for more than "that's how I was raised" or "that's how you should be raised" or similar. I'm really curious WHY? -
New Orleans didn't need a RB last year either.

His first mock draft came out a few days ago. Definitely some different ideas.

Seems like this guy did this stuff to get his name/face on TV. Funny that the media may have had more to do with this than video games.

Niiiiiice. Thanks again man.

According to Levy, we will not use a traditional FB on offense
Acantha replied to bluv's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Before seeing that on BB.com today I was a big Leonard fan and thought there was 0% chance the Bills picked him up. After hearing about what the offensive philosophy will be, I bump that up to about 5%. I still don't think they decide to go that way, but he would really add a whole new dynamic to our offense, especially if we aren't going to have a traditional FB on the team. He would never be considered a feature back, but he'd be perfect for almost any team committed to RBBC, especially one that wants to use their RB's in the passing game to open up their offense like we will. -
Exactly. I"ve never seen a guy that big get taken down so easily. Granted, if you try to tackle him high, he can shrug you off, but put a finger on his ankle and he falls over. Crazy.

Not so much the school, but I don't like the position. I can't see us drafting DE that early. Also, I don't know anything about Tim Shaw, so I can't comment on that pick. So other than Brown, I definitely like the draft.....all the way down to Ball and Pudewell who would be great picks that late in the draft.

Sick of All the Mock Draft Topics
Acantha replied to BuffaloBilliever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, and outside of a week or two to discuss the new picks, we should all shut up about the Bill period until they actually start playing. What's the point of all this discussion, it means nothing until they get out on the field and play. -
Is JaMarcus Russel the next vince young?
Acantha replied to Captain Hindsight's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No player Oakland brings in will lead them to the promised land for at least a couple year, but comparing Russel to Young is just all out wrong. Other than being big and black, they have nothing in common. Russel has one of the fastest, hardest throws I have ever seen. He flicks his wrist and the ball goes 50 yards down field. It's amazing. He's doesn't have elite accuracy, but he is accurate and generally makes good decisions with his throws. He is also VERY relaxed vs the blitz. He hangs tough in the pocket, moves around very well for his size, and can throw almost as well on the run as he can in the pocket. And you not hearing of him doesn't really mean a whole lot. Everyone in the SEC knew who he was. Every game plan was focused on stopping him, and most of the time he still shredded defenses. He wasn't expected to come out early before the season, so there wasn't much focus on him as a pro prospect. But with the way he played all season, and the huge game he had with national audience over ND made it a no brainer for him to take off early. -
Poz's knee criticized, yet AP seemingly gets a pass
Acantha replied to stuckincincy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The difference in talent between the Big 10 and SEC is quite large, but has only recently become the case (last 4-5 years or so). Comparing the great LB's that came out of Penn State throughout history doesn't really do much justice. This is not to say at all that Poz won't be a great LB, or that "LB U" is not capable of still producing great athletes. But when comparing the level of talent in those conferences and how that would affect an elite player, I have to give the nod to SEC. There are many things that can be looked at to decide which player could be a better pro, that's just another one. -
I don't think that's right. The Bills had placed the tender on them, which meant that if any team had signed them they would have had to offer compensation. By accepting the tender, these guys are officially under contract for another year now. Other teams can no longer sign them. I may be reading that wrong, but it wouldn't make sense to update the fact that tenders were placed on them. That's old news.
-
And really I think that's how they are meant to be taken (in most cases). These guys are just putting things out there for discussion. I think people put far too much focus on Kiper's mocks. Kiper does a pretty good job with his write-ups and evaluation of talent.
-
The problem is what your asking for is far too specific. The Tampa-2 hasn't been around that long, and only a few teams use it (Tampa, Chicago, Indy, and the Bills off the top of my head....more?) 4(?) teams and a few years of implementation doesn't offer a lot of examples to choose from. It's not like there are a dozen failures out there. That "exception" may very well be the only case to choose from? I don't know, I haven't put much effort into finding an answer to what I perceive as a very leading and one sided question.
-
I am definitely behind Hughes, I've been talking about him for a month now. In the scenario that Kiper has (players falling to the same places, etc...) I would MUCH prefer to get Dallas Baker with our first 3rd and pick up Hughes with our 4th. Personally, I think Hughes will go to Indy at the end of the 3rd though. They have a hole to fill at CB and Hughes fits the system for them. Dallas Baker would be a much better fit than McKnight. He's a big target that never hesitates to make catches in traffic, and he's huge in the endzone. He would never be a #1 WR, but he'd be perfect opposite Evans and would be a great slot receiver when needed.

Now that Miami will get green
Acantha replied to Captain Hindsight's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
While Green doesn't scare me overall, when both are healthy, he scares me a lot more than Culpepper ever would. -
Even worse...what if he gets hurt? Anyone who says the Bills RB situation right now isn't scary is deluding themselves.

Hot Country Singer Has Message for the Troops
Acantha replied to truth on hold's topic in Off the Wall Archives
It was certainly appalling as far as music goes, but how could anyone be deeply offended by that song? It was funny! -
The best part about putting him in an unnatural position is that we can all know from that start that he won't make rookie mistakes playing in a position he hasn't played before. He won't be faked out by draws. Won't over commit on run plays. Won't lose his man in assignments. Since SLB is such an easy position to pick up and exceed at, and much less important than the MLB position, there should be no problems at all. And next year, when we don't lose any starters to FA, and we are bringing in players to fill all of our holes through FA and the draft, we can all sit around next year and post things like, "We'll have a pretty good defense IF Willis can make the transition to MLB. It will take him a few games to pick it up and play well in a new position, and he'll have to learn how to react to playing there, but once he has some time, this D could really click."

Preach on, oh high and mighty listener of the good! On second thought, just get over yourself. Oh...and I think the new LP single kind of sucks.
