  1. That IS catchy.
  2. The thread soon to be knows as, "Any song you have ever heard that you even remotely liked."
  3. Though responding to a post about it passes your logic test?
  4. Is there some idiot on the other board telling everyone socialism is the best government?
  5. Aftermath of British gun ban...so far.
  6. There are hundreds of articles and dozens of very in depth books that cover exactly how FDR's policies pushed what could have been a 1-2 year recession into the great depression. Read "America's Great Depression" if it's actually a topic that interests you (I'm assuming it's really not, but willing to admit I'm wrong). Hiding behind "things were so bad, you just don't know" argument does just as little justice to the true facts of history as do false presumptions of what really went down during that time. The GDP numbers people often reference to show a positive turnaround in in the economy of the US during the 30's are misleading. GDP, in a contrived formula, basically give you an amount of spending. Just like today (despite what so many still think), spending money created from debt doesn't actually help an economy. It only helps the graphs....for a period of time. Even saying that it was just the war that pulled us out of depression is a bit misleading. It was the frugal tendencies of Americans who had gone through decades of depression and war that finally pulled us out. When the war was over and we slowly came out of our sanctioned way of life, people realized they had true savings, something not seen in decades. It was these savings that were used to build our country back to power. Unfortunately the desire to push those savings past their natural ability to create wealth is what drove us down again. FDR pushed as much or more of a socialist agenda than any president before him, and due to a desperate economy, he was able to get much further along in his agenda. Very much like Bush was able to do because of 9-11, and Obama will do both because of an economic fall and because he will be able to build off his predecessors legacy.
  7. Keep practicing, you'll be a faster reader someday.
  8. Yeah, yeah...same point. And there are AD's who talk to the media.
  9. "Yes, we are planning on firing our coach right after we get the signatures of our current recruiting class. Doing it before then would really hurt our class this year, so we decided to lie to them and keep it under wraps until after they are under contract to play for us." - What a GM would never say Not that I believe the rumor.
  10. I think he'd cringe to know that we are now considered a democracy.
  11. IMO, there just aren't any DE's in the draft that can change a defense, and that's what we need. We already have a bunch of average DE's on the team. Orakpo appears to be the best of the group, but in a normal year I think he is a guy taken around the 25th pick. There is no reason to use such a high pick on a guy just because he's the best of a very weak class. And given our need for a dominate DE, I don't even think he's worth trading down to get. He just doesn't fill a need.
  12. Yep, and then you could follow them.
  13. As long as you're not creating/dealing with PDf all the time, Foxit is, IMO, definitely worth going to. Works just as well, gets rid of a lot crap from Adobe, and is much faster. For the Java updates, I get rid of the old updates and have never noticed anything wrong form doing so. I'm not a "computer person" though, so I'm sure someone can give you a more specific answer.
  14. Personally I'd say no,just because only the last 15 minutes of that were "girly". Outside of that it was just a comedy, and a fairly "guy" comedy at that.
  15. I don't think so. I"m the same way. As long as there's a good story, I like romance flicks. It's the movies that have basically no plot whatsoever other than "I am woman, here's my estrogen" that I have no interest in. Movies like Steal Magnolias or Sex in the City, countless others. Occasionally one of those will come out made well enough to keep my interest. I thought Fried Green Tomatoes was very well done. Thelma and Louise came close, so I can see others thinking it was alright, but it wasn't for me.
  16. Can't say I have a "go to" album (I'm not that organized), but Ottis Redding has always been a favorite for that kind of thing. "These Arms Of Mine" has to be one of the ultimate "in the mood" songs.
  17. I think remarkable is spot on. His farewell address should be mandatory reading for every American. I find it pretty amazing to see how desperately Washington wanted to stay out of military and political activities, but came back every time he was asked because he truly thought it was his duty to the country, and did so for no salary even though it was common for his positions. To be honest though, the more I think about him and others in his day, the more depressed I get about where we stand today. We are not on their shoulders, we are in their shadows.
  18. No way is the Princess Bride a chick flick.
  19. For me it's Hedberg and Steven Wright. Similar styles and they both can have me crying I laugh so hard. I really miss Hedberg.
  20. So why aren't you annoying them?
  21. One day, after holding in his anger for so long, that little kid is going to destroy that fence.
  22. Me too. I think he's losing 4 O linemen and his top recievers. Chances are that offense will not be the same next year. If he's doing it for the degree, that's great, but I don't think he'll ever have a better opportunity to make the jump to the NFL.
  23. And if some dude were to instead say, "Yeah, you do look like that Alda guy", she'd fall for him in a second.
  24. Uh...nobody's blaming the kids. And really, is there anything the Navy does without the word fag showing up?
