Time Warner Cable's "Roll Over or Get Tough"
Acantha replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in Off the Wall Archives
Everything would trickle down. They wouldn't pay a billion dollars for NFL games because that money wouldn't be there anymore. And it would be the same for all of the other stations, so they would still probably be able to outbid everybody. If it they were wanted, they would survive. Who cares? Right now there are dozens of stations that have 1 or 2 good shows each. Sci-Fi maybe has 2 shows on at one time that get any ratings at all. Get rid of the majority of those stations, and those good shows get picked up by the few stations that make it. You could go from a few good shows on each station throughout the year to good shows every day. With more good shows, comes more money from commercials. More money from commercials means decent prices for viewers. And again, if they have shows that people want to see, they will survive. I don't understand the problem with making stations have decent programming in order to stay in business. It very well may not. But IMO the reasons given by these articles leave too much open to be decisive. -
Which has nothing to do with how bad that post was.

Best game of the week. I've been watching a lot of Stanford because I like Harbaugh, and I swear that Gerhart kid has gotten better every week. He won me over for Heisman tonight. Pretty much just willed that win.

One of the worst posts I've seen. Congrats!

Time Warner Cable's "Roll Over or Get Tough"
Acantha replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in Off the Wall Archives
There are a lot of holes in the scenario you've brought up about this before. For this particular argument, you're forgetting supply and demand. If the price structure changed, stations would have to play around and find a price that their customers would be willing to pay. Would people pay 12 bucks a month for ESPN? Probably not. They'd have to lower price in order to get customers. Also, stations could work together to promote deals. Groupings that customers could put together, not be forced to accept. -
Except I've have never once....wait, let me stress that: NEVER ONCE!!!!!....said that Tebow will be a good NFL QB prospect. Yet I don't come on here and repeatedly over exaggerate the truth and flat out make up lies about what's actually going on the field just to make a point. It's very simple, if Tebow were as bad of a passer as you try to make him out to be, he wouldn't have broken so many records in his career. His stats simply wouldn't hold up. Saying tha this receivers are 5-10 yards open is just a blatant lie, and easily shown to be so by anyone who watches the games! It's like you think nobody else can see the games....like were in 1930 and you're one of the few people who actually see the games live. Who the hell are you kidding?

I think they are going to a big hit next year, very similar to 2007. They have some very talented talent in the red-shirt sophomore and junior ranks that will probably try to ride a very publicized season to the NFL. But they have enough young talent to stay competitive and be strong again in two years. Nobody should count Brantley out. He won't be a Tebow, but he's a damn good QB and he's going to have some really good WR's coming up with him.
-
At his point, every time you join these threads you end up hurting your own argument. He's thrown 2 perfect passes today over 20 yards. There are SO many reasons to bring up why Tebow won't succeed in the NFL, yet you somehow manage to lose credibility every time you post.
-
So then the original post should have been something along the lines of, "I don't want Tebow on the Bills." Which would have been like two dozen other posts before.
-
You're asking two different questions. What makes him great in college isn't automatically going to make him great in the NFL. If you have followed his career and can't figure out what makes him one of the greatest college players to play the game....well, I can't really help you. It's everything about him, on and off the field. The NFL is a totally different game.

Time Warner Cable's "Roll Over or Get Tough"
Acantha replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in Off the Wall Archives
I'm moving in a few months and have already decided I'm not getting cable/Sat. in my new place. Between what you can watch on-line or get on DVD after the seasons are over, the only thing I'd miss is sports, and really just all of the college football options. Have to find a good sports bar. -
I never said you didn't say that. I said you change your mind a lot, pretty much whenever it suits your need apparently.
-
And yet NOBODY thought Harrell was going to do well in the NFL. Maybe if you actually watched them play, you'd have something worth saying in this thread.
-
Here ya go, oh consistent one. You want him, then your glad we passed and took Maybin, then what could Brandon possibly be thinking!
-
You sure do change your mind a lot.

Guess they can find out how much water that argument holds tomorrow.

How he performs in the Pitt game is going to go a long way toward his draft position, I think. He's looked great in his games, but he hasn't faced too much tough competition. Pitt's D should test him. While I really like him and would be happy to see him drafted, I just don't think the Bills are in position to draft a QB who needs time to develop. Pike will almost certainly go in the 2nd round (if he doesn't move into the first), and I think the Bills are better off getting either a couple linemen or a lineman and a LB in the first two rounds. It's a good, deep daft for D-linemen and LB's, and I think a very good player can be found in the top of round 2.
-
Especially given it's his first real playing time in almost 2 months.

Pike is 6-6 and 225lbs. He certainly has room to grow, but that's far from a toothpick. He plays in a no-huddle spread. I've been pushing Pike since week 1 and haven't changed my mind. The guy is big and has a strong, accurate arm. He knows how to throw strikes and touch passes, and knows when to use each. He plays in a no huddle and makes a lot of the pre-snap reads himself. He's not a runner, but moves around in the pocket and has one of the best "throws on the run" in college, IMO. The thing that stands out to me more than anything else is how composed he is during the play. No matter what's going on around him, he knows where his guys are supposed to be and he's finding them downfield. Even when he's flushed from the pocket and running toward the sideline; he doesn't just look straight downfield for someone to be there (like almost all QB's do), he continues to progress through is reads and find open guys. I don't think there is a single QB coming out this year that will step in their rookie year and tear up the league, and Pike is no exception. I think he's one of those guys that will need to take time to make the transition, but when he does he will excel. And while I would love the Bills to draft him, a Aaron Rodgers situation would probably suit him better. Wherever he goes, I think he will be a very good QB a few years down the road.

Somebody should kick this guy to death

But I bet she never asks him to do something for her when the games about to start again.
