  1. One player is "the team"? And just to put into context, the comments are aimed at Kelly leaving at all.
  2. This isn't like the NFL where nothing can really be done until well after the season is over (Free Agency has a specific start date, the draft is a couple months down the line). Coaches started scouting high school kids for this years class 3 years ago, and started actively recruiting them 1-2 years ago. And every single person they recruit is someone that fits the needs of the team (you're not spending a lot of time recruiting the top LB talent when you brought in 8 in the last two years, etc...). Notre Dame is even more difficult due to the stricter academic considerations. Not to mention having to completely figure out everything he can about his new team and all of the recruits that were previously recruited by Weis...does he still want them / do they want to play for him / what has to be done to make it all work out. ND is going to pay him top dollar to turn their program around and every single move he makes is going to fall under the microscope of the college football world. The reports were that he talked to his team in private about what was going to happen, and while I'm sure all of those kids want him on the sideline, I bet they all also want him to succeed in his new job. I'd counter the tantrum above and say, Ask every one of those kids if they hate Kelly because he is going to start a new job, and almost all would say no, they understand.
  3. Does there really need to be a new Tebow thread every time someone mentions his name?
  4. He's taking over one of the biggest coaching jobs in college and is a year behind in recruiting for this year class. Can't say I blame him deciding he needs to do what's right for his new team. And the original post is right, in the grand scheme of things the bowl game is meaningless.
  5. No, it's just the only time it makes headlines that you care about reading. Courts are full of property rights cases. This is a special situation since it's such a large, wide-spread problem that is very hard to control. It deserves the attention they are giving it.
  6. I would guess the DTV deal is what stands in the way of offering on-line broadcasts. I would think that as soon as the NFL decides they can get a lot more money offering the games on-line, they will let the DTV deal expire.
  7. This is actually something Congress should be involved in. Making laws to protect property is one of the few things they are supposed to be doing.
  8. He does this stuff all the time. I love the guy and think he's one of the few players in the NFL that still make it worth watching (and I mean that...I find less and less every year to like about the NFL). I can understand if someone just doesn't care one way or the other, but I don't get anyone that thinks badly of him.
  9. When I look at those numbers, I see a trend. His teams were all worse when he left. I generally liked Wade, but I can never get over him saying we didn't really have a chance to make the playoff, in front of a national audience, while we were still mathematically in it. Doesn't mean he's a bad coach, only that he's an idiot.
  10. Thanks for the brilliant thread.
  11. My view is that watching one day's worth of games and thinking you know anything about a player is beyond absurd.
  12. I'd pretty much kill for the Chiefs first two picks (right before ours). And looking at the players after our pick in the 3rd round, I would JUMP at Selvie and either of the Pouncey brothers would be better for us than Lefevour. 1. Okung 2. Kindle 3. Selvie That would be a dream draft.
  13. Easy. Cinci is a BCS conference and had a strong finish winning against the #15 team. Yes TCU is good, but as far BCS is concerned it's just another Boise St (oh yeah...them too). It hurts the "BCS" system more when one of it's own conference wins all of it's game and doesn't even have a chance to play for the championship. I agree that it would have been a fiasco either way, but I think this hurts more. More than half of the undefeated teams in college football are hung out to dry.
  14. Have to disagree with that. Once again they have an undefeated BCS conference team left out of the championship game. Add in TCU and the BCS is going to have even more crap thrown at it than it usually does.
  15. All of the plays after the horse collar haven't made much sense. Lucky bastards to pull out that win. EDIT: It's going to be a boring CG. Alabama is going to roll over them.
  16. 1 play and in field goal range.
  17. Except on kickoffs. Ouch.
  18. IMO there's really no doubt Cinci jumps.
  19. OH....MY....GOD! LET IT GO!!!!!
  20. Wait.....what was your question?
