Terrence Cody a "Sloppy" 370 Pounds at Senior Bowl
Acantha replied to Thurman#1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You're so awesome, acting the tough guy! Do you sleep better after some good message board swearing? Seriously, you're my freaking hero! Stop quoting senior bowl write-ups and watch some games. Cody wasn't always pulled in pass rush situations. When he was in depended on a lot more than that. He got into the backfield quite often, disrupting both passing and running plays. Having him in on ST is just another sign that his coaches not only thought he was capable of getting penetration (which he has proven that can do), but also that he doesn't need to be sitting on the sidelines all but two or three plays a drive. -

You must have missed the two FG blocks in one game that had this season. "Him big. Must not move." Very good breakdown. -
I turned it on just after halftime. So far all I'm seeing is guys slowly weave their way up the field while defenders try to miss tackles. And is that actually David Gerrard playing QB right now? Wow...

Cortez as QB coach, possibility of Garcia as QB?
Acantha replied to Red's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would be very happy with this. Let Garcia start and give the coaches time with Brohm to decide if he can be the future starter. If not, look to the draft next year to find that guy (basically do what the Jets did and find a way to get they guy you want), maybe Locker or Mallet. -

You're right that he's not the next Patrick Willis; they are completely different types of players. But honestly, I don't care who says what about the guy. I've seen him play and I know what kind of player he is on the field. Anyone who doesn't know about the guy, hasn't watched him enough. -

Come on, that wasn't a shot in the dark, it was "look how different I can be!" St Louis needs a DT enough that they are going to take one with the #1 overall pick, but they are not going to take the most impressive DT prospect to come out of college in years? Why? They feel bad for the Lions? The best (and most NFL ready) LB in college football is going to be the 3rd LB off the board? And that's just the two most blatant examples. Dan Williams going 32 and Cody slipping are others. This is nothing more than an attention grabber. -

That mock was basically throwing a bunch of crap against the wall and seeing what stuck. Not sure what he based any of those picks on. It's like he didn't watch a single college game. -
Yeah, this is SO much better than the letter Jauron sent out last year that said they were going to do their best to build a weak team and finish the season among the worst in the league.

Don't cheapen it.

Is WR also a need in the draft???
Acantha replied to Buffalo Beeeews's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think you can go deeper than that. They may not be superstars, but we aren't going to be looking for replacements for: Poz (whether he's inside or out) Evans (we could use a better #1, but if there are 3 starters, we could use 2) Hangartner (yes we could upgrade, but he's nowhere near the priority) DT (assuming we stay in 4-3, at least 1 DT starter is safe. We need another for rotation) Nelson (Jury is of course still out, but you certainly aren't going to draft another one after some good looks his rookie season) Maybin (you don't give up on a 1st round draft pick after 1 season, no matter how bad it was) I'd also say that considering the holes elsewhere, they wouldn't be looking to upgrade Mitchell's spot. I know a lot of people hate him, but he's a vet on a team full of youngsters. Again, just doesn't stack up to the other needs. That brings it up to 14 positions. So if you break it down: 1 DE 1 DT 1 LB 2 OT 2 WR 1 QB And that's assuming Schobel retires. If he doesn't, we still need an upgrade, but I think he falls into the same category as Mitchell. I would also say that with whatever potential Hardy and Johnson have, the WR position is only realistically looking at 1 new player. (sorry, this was more for me than anything else. Just thinking it out as I type.) There are a lot of positions that need upgrades on this team and it's going to take years of good drafting and smart FA acquisitions to figure it all out. But for this season, I think the glaring holes are too big to ignore for positions with serviceable players in them. -
Gailey hires five for staff; retains two

Don't knock it. I bet that game will bring in a pretty nice payday for the Bills. -
The PFW article on the front page
Acantha replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And he did actually say that using unnamed sources for crimes is a different story. I have to agree. Almost nothing in the media these days is sourced and it has led to god awful sports coverage. All of the reporters on here can argue all they want about how things are out there, but there's no denying the fact that almost everything put out is random stories with no real facts or substance. That may be the way things are in today's reporting world, but that doesn't automatically mean that it's good material. -
This is getting a little ridiculous.

Coincidence 3 of 4 teams left are dome teams?
Acantha replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In a mostly unrelated note, it's interesting that 3 of 4 teams play the 4-3. -
Seems to me Oakland would be a pretty decent job for a first time head coach. You get to make excellent money, get all sorts of experience being a head coach, and if it doesn't work out you get to blame Davis. If it does work out, you're a genius. Seems like no lose.

Actually, the original picture wasn't quite as good. Just a pic of all of them standing on stage during the speech.
-
It's his best 2 receivers now? Man, history changes. First, you do something for me. Go back and find where I said Clausen sucks or that he was a bad option. Let me know when you're done.
-
Give me a break. Quoting stats without any consideration for the fact that ND played the easiest schedule of just about any major BCS team out there is pointless. If you want to debate his merits, at least be realistic.

You didn't happen to notice who the opponents were in all those games you watched, did you?

At this point, I would say pretty early.....week 9 or 10 maybe. Not that we'll definitely be eliminated by then, but we'll probably be playing bad enough that conversation will start. And this isn't anything against Gailey. This team has a lot of holes, is having a huge turnover, and will be working with all new coaches and systems. Nix has already said that he doesn't believe in using free agency to bring in high priced guys, so we can't expect a lot of help from there. We can only do so much with the core we have now and one draft. No matter who the coach is or how well they perform, year 1 is going to be tough.
-
"I find your lack of faith disturbing." Seriously, how could I be the first with this?
-
As much as I don't like the Gailey hiring, I would take him over Carroll every time. Really bad move on Seattle's part, IMO. Didn't one of the worst Bills teams in years beat Carolina this season?? Those guys have NO reason to be laughing. Their front office is a mess and their coaching situation isn't much better than ours was going into last season. I'm not going all out trying to defend the hire, but really who cares? If you're pissed about the hire, fine. Don't be pissed cause of stupid comments about the hire. That's just childish.
-
Fewell's just lucky the other two coordinators on the team were a guy with almost no coaching experience and April. Cause if there's anything Ralph hates more than black people, it's people named after months.

What is different between the Jets last year and now?
Acantha replied to DarthICE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They also spent a couple years building their lines. But hey, let's ignore all that.
