Here is what it comes down to. The current coaching staff (unlike one's in the past) actually know more about football and talent than we (a bunch of guys and gals on an internet message board) do ... that simple ... they obviously see something with Shaud Williams that was more valuable than was Gates. How is that hard to understand?

Not to be rude, but are you seriously trying your best NOT to understand what I am saying? In baseball each game counts as 1 win or 1 loss ... but it doesnt matter if you lose to the best team in baseball, or the worst. In college football if you lose to the best team in Football it counts 10x less than if you lose to the worse team. In college football, if you are a ranked team (especially in the top 5 like Notre Dame is) and lose to a non-ranked team you are going to go down (and probably far) in rankings, thus making it very hard for you to get to the national championship. Also, one game in college football is also 1 win, or 1 loss like baseball except for the fact that compared to baseball ONE GAME of college football is the equivelant of about 15 baseball games. How do you not understand this???

Your right. I should have put a question mark (?) at the end of that last paragraph I wrote, because it was meant to be more of me asking you than accusing you .... But none-the-less, me saying "and yet you continued to listen" and you saying "actually I didnt. listened long enough to change the station" makes it seem like you didnt listen very long ... I dont know about other people but it doesnt take me more than a few seconds to push a button and "change the station" ???

Ok lets re-evaluate your analagy ... first of all it would be Mets 3 - Braves 0 after 4 1/2 - 5 innings .... baseball also has about 150 or so more games a year than college football, thus making each game worth less ... not to mention that baseball doesnt have a ranking system, so losing to a bad team wouldnt affect your overall outlook on winning the big game. get my point?

Some people have a hard time really getting the true meaning of posts ... above is a prime example. Never did I say in the thread that the game is over. I posted the score, stats, and said that stock is dropping. Period. Now. If It walks like a duck, quaks like a duck, and looks like a duck. Its most likely a duck. If Notre is playing like their bad, looking like their bad, and acting gonna bad ... then they are probably bad (in this GAME - not the season) Watch the game bro.
