What did the Pats do today to keep your hate up?
Steven in MD replied to ajflutie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The 4 things that pissed me off about today. 1. Brady had an intentional grounding that was not called....the pass NEVER got passed the LOS, that is a penalty. 2. The left tackle continually tackling SD defense men without ANY calls for holding. 3. The BLANTANT hit on Rivers (yes he was pushed, but did he need to head but him?). 4. The personal foul call when the Pats player hit the CB from SD. Yes, the CB was jawing at him, but why can he hit the player and have the plenty on the SD CB? -
The Steelers did not have talent...they had Jerome Bettis. When will people realize that the NFL is about marketing? Do you still think that the Steelers won the SB? Or do you believe that the referees gave them the SB? This year, the NFL marketing gurus have Reggie Bush and the Katrina story to sell. And the US is buying it hook like and sinker. New Orelans with less talent than many teams will be in the SB, and probably will win it.

I was unimpressed with his game management. Twice he should have gone for the 2 pt conversion and kicked the XP. Luckily the Eagles only got a FG and not a touchdown to make it 27-24. Also, I think he was very fortunate at times in that game. I still think that Greggo could have coached New Orleans to win this season. They are the Pittsburgh Steelers for 2006.

Bills attendance excuse buster
Steven in MD replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not sure I agree here. The Bills were in the thick of a playoff push late in the season and failed to sell out games. I think you have to attribute the Saints sell outs to the NFL marketing machine. The NFL has put alot of money behind marketing the Saints, and will continue to do so this season. Look for the Saints in the Bowl. -
Specifically what are folks complaining about...
Steven in MD replied to Pyrite Gal's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just like Zach Thomas he is agile enough to get to the runner 5-8 yds downfield. He makes a high number of tackles because the secondary plays off the line so he covers the region between the DL and secondary. He has high tackles totals because the DL sucks and does not slow down the runner. -
Ralph Wilson Must Die in 2010
Steven in MD replied to HarkinBanks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The irony of this situation is that the NFL could change a simple rule and solve this problem. As you know, it is against nfl policy for a corporation to own an nfl franchise. If they allowed corporate ownership, then owners could recreate a corporation where they retain 51% of the shares. It would allow for easier passing of ownership without the impact of estate taxes since the owners can pass ownership over in parts as they age. Maybe it does not solve all the problems...but it could be a start for lawyers to figure out how to do it. -
Name the elite WR from USC....MeShawn? I would take a TN receiver over a USC receiver anyday.
-
Peerless Price Donte Stallworth Erik Parker Kelley Washington Cedrick Wilson Jason Witten (though he is a TE) Just the current players here
-
Tennessee receivers are just better....USC receivers have under produced in the NFL while UT receivers have excelled.

I am a huge Tennessee fan, and I would not take him any higher than the 3rd round. He played well in the FL game with the torn bicep, but I have to believe the rehabilitation to get back to 100% strength will be long and hard. I would have draft Mahelona last year before Harrell this year.

Should the Bills go after Mularkey?
Steven in MD replied to genomich's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Cowher is as good as gone with one year left on his contract. Since he is already a HC, no other team will be able to sign him for 2007 as a HC. Have to promote him. He wants Holmgren money (~8 mil/yr) and it is just not happening. He will be out of football for the year, then come back and fail wherever he ends up in 2008. -
Justin plays his heart out when he is not injuried. Unfortunately, I think the torn bicep will hurt his draft ranking and he could slip to the 2nd ord 3rd round. I think Marv will take him if he is still around in the 3rd, otherwise I expect the Bills to remain committed to upgrading the o-line.

The Bama job is no picnic.....you have to out recruit Auburn, FL, USF, FL State, Miami, Arkansas, LSU, etc.....and play in the TOUGHEST conference in college football. He won in the SEC so he knows what it takes, but it is still a very tough job that very few men want. I think that he will stay at Miami since he knows that he is secure until Wayne and Co sell the team.

With the 12th pick the Buffalo Bills select...
Steven in MD replied to /dev/null's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When I met his parents, they did not seem to indicate he was coming out. I think he might stick around if LSU loses the BCS game. Since seeing him against TN, I have been a big fan....btw when you meet his parents, you can understand why he is so big! -

Rather have a CB that makes many plays then hits hard on a single play. -

Clements or Fletcher: Who do you keep?
Steven in MD replied to el Tigre's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
THANK YOU!!!!! I agree 100% he is a Zach Thomas type MLB. Makes loads of tackles...just 10 yds down the field. I like the MLB like Lewis, Urlacher and Hawk, make the plays at the LOS. -

Nate is not in the top 10 CBs in the league...so why worry. He is replacable via FA or the draft. We have plenty of depth at CB. Save the money and let him go like his friend Winfield in Minn. -
We came so far...and fell so short...and now we will have a top 15 pick instead of a top 10 pick...that is the penalty for playing well down the stretch and giving a gift to the Titans.

A Few Thoughts About The Game And The Bills
Steven in MD replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I doubt Donahoe would have EVER kept TH. From the day TD came to Buffalo he as going to replace every player with one of his own. He drafted WM to replace TH regardless of how well WM played. He had a plan, and executed flawlessly...he had to replace 52 players in 5 yrs and did it! -
A Few Thoughts About The Game And The Bills
Steven in MD replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What did you see from Willis that Travis would not give you?? Some other points to consider..... Jauron should be on a VERY short leash when he singlehandedly gave the Titans a win. Vince Young is the best QB in this years class -
The team was 2-8 (now 3-8). The game was a home game for the Bulls. I am not talking just about the blown lose to Pitt, I am talking about where this team is going into the MAC schedule. We shall see how this season plays out, but I imagine a 15 win season at best.
