  1. It is quite simple.... Teams with more money (Redskins) can give out more upfront money, giving them an unfair advantage in the FA market. Since these teams know that the cap expands every year, they can "mortgage" the future to win today. This strategy might not win a SB, but it keeps teams competitive, and more importantly puts fans in the seats and buying merchandise. I think Ralph wanted a HARD cap, where the amount of signing bonuses are limited. But really, I think he realized his team suffered the last 5 yrs, and wanted an edge to stop teams from continuing to stock pile players for a 1-3 year run.
  2. I bet Ralph understood quite well what was on the table with this proposal. He was just against the idea that teams that mismanaged the cap are getting a reprieve with the bump up in cap. Though I believe Ralph always voting against proposals (also votes against instand replay) is the main reason he does not get into the HOF.
  3. Nope, they can find another line of work if they feel they are underpaid.
  4. Are we trying to corner the market on Tulane QBs?
  5. I think many of the Vols players have something to prove after the disappointing season. I think the real steal will be Jason Allen. His injury will scare many, but he was playing at a high level prior to that!
  6. Again, high character guys does not refer to off the field issues! It deals with how they come to play. The Bills of the 90's under Marv came to play every week. Marv wants guys who want to play, not guys who want to rest on their laurels.
  7. OK, so I want a darft that includes Simon, Mahelona (btw I was a Jesse fan way before he ever got on the scene), Gaither, Toeina and Allen. I would also like to call up Munoz's son and see if he wants a FA tryout with the Bills, but I am not bias. Rich, the funny part about this discussion was for a LONG time, the Bills always selected at least one guy from TN. At one point, they had I believe 6 former UT players.
  8. Marv won with high character teams...character is not just off the field, but the lunch pail mentality of the Bills of the 90's. Marv will bring that back, and we will win....you just wait and see.
  9. He is past that stuff....He can be a very dominating OL, so I would love him at 6. I also like the Simon pick too
  10. Bottom line is for 5 years the players had a GM that did not care about them. Now with Marv, he wants to talk to the players directly and get a sense of how they feel, then Marv can talk to the agent to work out the details.
  11. I can see a team like Chicago or Baltimore picking him up as a backup. No team would sign him to be the starter until he beats someone out in training camp.
  12. Not to cop out and just say Donahoe, but instead look at his "moves" I think getting fancy with the Mcgahee pick is indicative of the problem. TD believed in selecting the best talent, and not addressing the needs. If you look at his free agent signing, most (not including Spikes and maybe Fletcher) were in areas where they did not have a need, but he saw a star on the decline who he thought could resurrect their career in Buffalo...I just think he showed poor judgement.
  13. Marv!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is the BEST GM in the league!
  14. TD is not the GM, relax...will not happen!
  15. Normal guys don't get dates with NFL cheerleaders....regardless of team or hot or not.
  16. Most of us on this board could not even get a date with a Jill. Hot or not, out of our league.
  17. I think they were afraid he would out them on the plot for the Steelers to win the Super Bowl.
  18. Jason Allen would be a steal....only problem is it was a bad injury he suffered in that Georgia game.
  19. If the FBI got involved, it would mean that the US admits to illegal gambling. It is a catch-22. Everyone knows the game was fixed, and Pittsburgh got a lovefest, but that is where it ends. It will always be in the books with an asterik. Like the tuck game for the Pats.
  20. If the reffing is poor in general, and both teams get screwed equally, then it all comes out in the wash. When only one team gets screwed (read that Seattle), then there is a problem that the league has to clean up.
  21. My take on the BR TD is simple. Initially the ref was signaling no TD, and was spotting the ball on the 2 inch line. As he was running towards the pile he changed it to TD, though the play was over. It wsa clear he knew he HAD to change the call because it is harder to overturn the TD versus having PIttsburgh needing evidence it was a TD. It was a bad call, bottom line.
