  1. I've been hearing a lot about this guy in the past few weeks of camp.  I was excited when they picked him up in the draft, and he's an incredible specimen with his speed and height.  He was ranked higher than Donte, and I think he's proved himself slightly better.

Anyone agree here? I believe he deserves to at leas tbe above Rashad on the depth-chart

Okay last time I am going to post this - I swear.

I live in South Carolina (check my screen name) and I play hoops every morning with a bunch of rabid Gamecock fans. They know I'm a Bills nut. They claim he is the steal of the draft and will be an excellent player for us in the future.

  2. Are you talking about the Carolina game from last year or this pre-season? Because the game this pre-season he had 6 punts. Two landed inside the 20. One was 64 yards long and his average was 43 yards (only 2 yards les than his average last season) ... am I missing something?

His first two punts were HORRIBLE, right off the side of his foot.

  3. I know all my fellow Bills fans are on the edge of their seats. Here are my thoughts after watching the first quarter of the Bills/Bengals game.

    1. I liked what I saw of Losman.

He had a real presence in the pocket and some great zips on his throws. Can you imagine how much farther along he would be this season if Meathead kept him in all of last year? Sometimes he short arms the ball, but this can be corrected. Great throw over the middle to Parrish and nice 47 yard gain to Evans on the short slant. He actually had time to throw! After reading the boards all week I was afraid to watch, but was amazed.

    2. Josh Reed must go.

Josh, you cannot catch a football. 3 and 7, JP throws you a dart low and you wiffed. I'm sorry but you need to catch on with an Arena team somewhere. The experiment is over.

    3. Shaud Williams, please follow Mr. Reed out the door.

Christ Almighty! Why is he fielding punts? My three year old runs faster and has more moves.

    4. Our Special teams are still special.

Bobby April has the boys hummin'.

    5. Brian Morman is back.

He couldn't punt worth a crap at Carolina. Nice to see him rebound.

    6. Koi Simpson the next Bill Simpson?

C'mon old timers! Remember old #45? He would tackle with the best of them! Koi had a great open field tackle on a kickoff. My buddies here who are big Gamecocks fans think the Bills got a steal with him in the 4th round. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, so far so good.

    7. A Train is hitting the holes.

Nice burst of speed on some of his runs. I hope he makes the team and Shaud is selling shoes next week.

    8. McGee is back.

After being burnt like day old toast in Carolina, Terrence McGee had a nice game. Sweet breakup of the 3rd pass to Kelly Washington.

Just my thoughts from far away fellow Bills fans. I can't believe we kick it off for real in two weeks!

  4. The thing that really hurts when watching Carolina is that the Bills & Carolina were about the same in 2001, with Carolina a little worse, the difference between the 2 teams being a 1 point home victory by the Bills over the Panthers.  Then Carolina hired John Fox as head coach, drafted Peppers 2 picks before Mike Williams, signed Jake Delhomme to be their QB, did some other things the Bills didn't, and are now light years ahead of the Bills.  Imagine if we hire Fox instead of Gregg Williams and who knows where we are today.

Peppers had a sack that led to a fumble recovery/touchdown. The man is a freak of nature.

Good points Albany, what Carolina did was hire a football general manager. Marty Hunery has done wonders with the team since his hire and they look even more promising this year. We hired TD which set the Bills back ten years.

  5. I'm all for that but you seem to forget that mistakes were the norm the past 2 years right after the preseason.  We can't get ourselves out those holes again and expect to have a winning season.

    747520[/snapback]

Remember those Super Bowl years? Our preseason record was 3-45.

    Relax.

  6. I remember a game later in his career, against the Falcons I think in OP, Jimbo misfired and was picked. Tackled the guy at the sideline and broke the DB's leg. He later said that he was mad at his mistake and was trying to make up for it by making sure it didn't go back for 7. That, ladies and gents, is a football player. Make a mistake, all right, everyone does it; get back in the play and try to do better next time. I see a lot of the same level of spirit in JP. And remember that it was not JP who took himself out last year, it was Meathead who had unrealistic expectations for an essential rookie starter.

Yes it was against the Falcons at Rich. He snapped it pretty good. I also remember Jim throw three picks in the first half against the Begals on a Monday night . We came back and won the game.

  7. Sorry its a little late, but kids will do that to you.

We sat at the 45 yards line, 10 rows back behind the Bills bench. We sat by  Nate Clement's cousins, and Fowler's dad and brother. Nate's cousins says he loves the fans in Buffalo, but is getting tired of losing. Melvin Fowler's dad (a LARGE Man in his own right) says Melvin is super excited to be the starting center, and so far LOVES the coaching staff in Buffalo.

Said Melvin hopes not to disappoint the fans in Buffalo.

Did you have the TKO home jersey on?

  8. The truth of the matter is that I made two mistakes:

    1) Being honest and up-front about not having watched the game.

    2) Daring to criticize Losman for what seems to have been a mediocre performance at the most generous level of assessment

    JDG

But the truth of the matter is you'll argue about something you didn't see or hear. Like a gossip columnist, you are taking pieces of the story and running with them, ignoring fans like myself who were at the game. I've also posted about Carolina TV color guy and former quarterback Steve Beuerlein raving about his decision making as the game wore on. I have it Tivoed. Would you like me to mail you a copy?

Because you like stats to back up your arguements, here are Mr. Beuerlein's credentials:

Beuerlein holds many Panthers passing records. These include single-season records, all set in 1999, for passing yards (4,436), touchdowns (36), attempts (571), and completions (343).

He holds the top three single-game passing yard totals in team history (373, 368, and 364.) His 5 touchdown passes in the last week of the 1999 season are still a team record.

His career records with the Panthers include most attempts (1,723), completions (1,041), passing yards (12,690), passing touchdowns (86), highest completion percentage (60.4%), and highest passer rating (87.7).

His 36 touchdown passes were 2nd in the NFL in 1999, and remain the eighth highest single-season total in league history. His 4,436 passing yards led the league, as did his 343 completions. At age 34, Beurlein went to his only Pro Bowl that year.
