  1. Snow today (Fri) but supposed to taper off Saturday, especially by game time. Please also take into account that the weatherman is always wrong.
  2. Maybe everyone going to the game should make a sign stating how there should be "Freedom of Signs."
  3. No, that can be explained by reps voting along party lines instead of making a researched and informed decision. Very similar to this board, and just about everywhere else where people draw their line in the dirt and stand on their party's side, no matter what. It's a lot easier than actually thinking about things.
  4. I've had Mommoser's, it's a tasty wing. They still don't hold a candle to the wings at the BarBill, down the road in East Aurora. They have the biggest, best wings in the world.
  5. I apologize: Norwide
  6. I read in the Buff News this morning that UB is now the only Division 1-A school with a black AD, a black hoops coach, and a black football coach. Diversity power! This is the new AD's first big hire, let's hope it goes well. I hope Turner can recruit, because he's not walking in to much. I think 10 wins over the next 3 years is a modest goal.
  7. The Sabres have taken 25 out of a possible 28 points

  9. From John Buccigross, on espn.com, here's his picks for U.S. and Canada. Drury in, no Miller, no Briere. I would assume Vanek is a go for Austria. Second Period -- Born in the USA The deadline for teams to submit their final Olympic rosters is Dec. 22, but the United States will announce its final list of 23 players on Dec. 19. If I were Team USA GM Don Waddell, these would be my four lines: Forwards Mike Modano-Brian Gionta-Chris Drury Craig Conroy-Brian Rolston-Dustin Brown Doug Weight-Keith Tkachuk-Mike Knuble Scott Gomez-Erik Cole-Jason Blake Defensemen Brian Rafalski-Mathieu Schneider Bret Hedican-John-Michael Liles Jordan Leopold-Aaron Miller Goaltenders Rick DiPietro John Grahame Robert Esche Extra skaters Ryan Kesler Paul Mara Team USA is in the middle of a transition period. It has a lot of very good, young players, but too young for these Olympics. The U.S. will be fortunate to medal in 2006. In 2010, they will be among the favorites for gold. Third Period -- It's a Canadian Game Team Canada is the defending Olympic gold medalist. Executive director Wayne Gretzky is again in charge and the same coaching staff is in place. It's only natural that they will bring back as many players from 2002 as talent will allow. If I was Team Canada executive director, I would immediately resign to spend more time with Janet Gretzky. If I had to pick a team & Forwards Joe Thornton-Jarome Iginla-Simon Gagne Vincent Lecavalier-Brad Richards-Martin St. Louis Joe Sakic-Dany Heatley-Patrick Marleau Sidney Crosby-Paul Kariya-Ryan Smyth You Can Quote Me Red Wings captain Steve Yzerman on his future: "When I decide to retire, it's going to be because I can't compete hard enough, or I'm not effective enough to warrant a position on the team. Other guys are playing in situations I customarily play in, but I think it's important as the captain to accept whatever role I'm given and play well. "People have to understand, it's a different Detroit Red Wings now. Things are changing around here. We all have to accept that. I have to accept that." Defensemen Wade Redden-Scott Niedermayer Rob Blake-Ed Jovanovski Dion Phaneuf-Robyn Regehr Goaltenders Martin Brodeur Marty Turco Curtis Joseph Extra skaters Rick Nash Dan Boyle I would love to see Crosby and Kariya play on together and I would have Kariya around for shootout purposes. My top five Canadian shootout shooters: Lecavalier, Kariya, Crosby, Heatley and Gagne. I'd love to get John Madden on this team for late game faceoffs and penalty kills. Patrick Marleau has sick talent that shouldn't be overlooked. I like Dan Boyle's right-handed shot on the power play. But there is so much talent to choose from. That's why Team Canada is the favorite to win gold again in Turin.
  10. Your compliments inspire me to do and to be more, Sensai Benedict
  11. Mularkey brought in his own guy to be strength and conditioning coach, and Jones got an unwanted "promotion." He did it for a year, but then he wanted to get back to doing what he loved (S & C) so he went to Chicago.
  12. Fabi is in a league of her own. Leinart probably can pull a higher quality of ass than this, but when you're out of town in NYC, you just lost the Heisman, and you're drunk, there's nothing wrong with trying to get into that girl's pants. She's not exactly what I would call "slumming it." Now, her friend on the other hand....
  13. The man doesn't look too concerned about Texas' football team as he tries to get in the pants of one of the state's hotties. He couldn't pull it off. Leinart in NYC after the Heisman awards
  14. Is that a haiku?
  15. That's fitting, because he was dogsh*t in that game. However, the Sabres were set up to lose that one...Travel weary, game the night before, Sharks were amped up because of the Thornton trade...Mika was hung out to dry on a few of those goals, but neither he nor the team looked sharp at all. What's more impressive is the way they seemed to put that blowout immediately behind them and start another streak.
  16. If they can trade Biron for a big, tough defenseman, I think they have to do it. (I don't know who that is, though.) I like the way they roll their forwards on 4 lines-- a lot of interchangable parts. But one big bruiser on defense, who could be a leader and a consistent rock, would be nice. While they are currently playing well, something doesn't match when you say "playoff hockey" and "Lydman and Fitzpatrick."
  17. Big difference with those three: they were all #1 overall picks. A lot more hype, and you know ESPN/Sportscenter craves superstars. JP is a low 1st round pick from a school who would never be confused with a football powerhouse. When you're a top pick, they put you on a pedastal immediately (right or wrong.) When you're an unheard of late-1st rounder from Tulane, playing in a small NFL market, they don't go out of their way to do you any favors.
  18. Miller could possibly get a shot this weekend as they have a home-and-home with Pittsburgh on Friday night and Saturday evening. Marty probably won't play 2 games in 22 hours, so it will be either Mika or Miller in one of those.
  19. Is there an over/under pertaining to which post any given thread in the PPP turns into the same pointless righty/lefty debate? I would put that number at roughly 5.5. It's typically post 5 or 6 where all threads can merge into the same conversation. By the way, has anyone EVER changed their politics because of something somebody they don't even know wrote on an Internet message board?
  20. Sweet thread.
  21. I firmly believe that our shady GM and head coach are trying to save face (and they probably think they are protecting JP) by not letting him play in primetime on national TV against one of the Top-5 teams in the NFL. If JP played like he did last week and was to go 11-30 for 97 yards on ESPN, Donahoe and MM figure they would have to start packing their bags.
  22. Not sure if this is the way I would've phrased it...
  23. Possibly the greatest hitter in the major leagues over the last 10 years, Manny Ramirez, doesn't study pitchers, and often doesn't know until the game's first pitch if the guy he will be facing that day is right or left handed.
  24. Not only your company, but your competitors as well??? (a la the San Diego Chargers quote)
