Damn! He kicked 45 XP's last year, compared to only 24 this year. What a downer!

Yes of course you are right VA. Coy Wire is an even better example. But at least Leonhard has played the safety position his whole college career, unlike Wire. Just looking at our aging safeties, we will probably have a spot opening up in the next two years. Is there any chance that Leonhard, at 5'8" 190lbs could play 45 plays a game at safety in the NFL? I would probably say no, but at the same time, he's shown he can be a playmaker. He just might have a shot at replacing his fellow UW alum Troy Vincent in centerfield for the Bills. Vincent, at 6'1" 200lbs, is not a ferocious run stuffer. More a last-line-of-defense type guy. Leonhard's instincts and "around-the-ball" style could work back there. On the flip side, teams could throw jump balls right over his head, and have speedsters cruise right by him. I think he's shown enough to deserve a look, whether it ever works out or not.

Imagine the 49ers did not pull off the upset last week, and both Houston and San Francisco entered this week's game at 2-13. Wouldn't it be great if Paul Tagliabue announced before the game that the WINNER would receive the #1 overall draft pick in April? The loser would get #2, and then the normal order would follow. I think that would be quite the spectacle. They could officially name it the Reggie Bush Bowl. It is so rare that the schedule would work out to have the clear-cut, two worst teams playing in Week 17. I think just for that rare occurance that almost was, this would have been a great idea. It would prevent the proverbial "laying down" by one (or both) teams. It would take the indecision out of the equation for the coaches and have them pull out all the stops to go for the victory. Obviously the Niners ruined everything by winning last week, but I really think this could've been great. It would have generated a lot of interest in an otherwise sad contest, and would have protected the integrity of the game by rewarding the team that wins, instead of the team that loses.

In the NFC, the Minnesota Bills placed Pat Williams, Keith Newman, and Antoine Winfield on the All-Joe team as well. (And Sam Cowart got a mention in Newman's blurb.)

Leonhard has really impressed me since his activation. Nice return on the reverse from McGee. Sick block on McGee's TD. Has been around the ball on kick coverage. He's pretty much exactly what scouts said he would be: an undersized playmaker with average speed, who always seems to be around the ball. Any chance he starts for the Bills at safety in 1-2 years??? Or are his size/speed deficiencies too much of a liability as a starting defender?

If you don't think winning 1 extra game can lead

Whatever man. We can say all week that it is better to lose, it will help our draft slot, etc. It's all a bunch of B.S. We're setting ourselves up for the loss we all think is coming. I knew the game meant nothing, and losing can help the future team via draft selections. But once the game starts, losing never seemed like a good idea. I was so happy watching McGee return the kick and the pick....And I had money on the Bengals!!! It was a wonderful Xmas surprise-- frustrating, yes, because we knew this team was capable of playing with the big dogs, they just never actually proved it. I've seen the Bills fold so many times and lose games exactly like Saturday's game. That's why I was so happy they won. And by the way, it's not where you draft, it's who you draft. The shtty Patriots are down to 4th stringers at some positions, and they've been drafting last in each round. -
For all the "I told you so" posters and everyone

Unlike you hacks, I will stick with my preseason prediction-- Bills 31 Eagles 27 -
I think it will be nearing the end of 2025.

I was circling the airport last night waiting for my brother to arrive, and I had the post game show on WGR. They were talking about the goalies, and some guy called up and said, "Marty's got to go! It's time to trade this bum!" I was cracking up, man. That was great. What have you done for me lately? Seriously though, Marty can get hot when the team is playing well in front of him, but throughout his long career, he has a history of at least one soft goal per game.

Does Haseoke have a version of that? I would love to hear that. I am a big fan of Haseoke! -
I saw JP in the Galleria Mall in Buffalo last night. I saw him in the Hugo Boss store with another dude, I'm not sure if he was a Bill or not. I wanted to size up JP, so I walked in and walked right past him so I could see how big he is. I'm pretty average size, 6ft about 190lbs, in okay shape. JP definitely had a few inches on me; I think he's listed at 6'2", but he seemed to be about 6'4" or so (or maybe I'm only 5'10"!!! ) He was definitely a thick dude. People were pretty much leaving him alone, but not me. I just said "Love to see you in there Saturday JP!" He just shrugged his shoulders and that was it. BTW, I started my Xmas shopping at about 6pm last night, and I was finished at a little before 8. I was on the move. Thank God that's over for a year.

BCS Bowls less than two weeks away!
smokinandjokin replied to smokinandjokin's topic in College Football
Definitely agree. Georgia playing the Sugar Bowl in the Georgia Dome, I have a feeling this will be a beatdown. LSU found out how tough it is to play a "neutral" site game in Atlanta. I'll take PSU at -8, but I also think the UNDER (48) is going to be a good bet. I don't see FSU's frosh QB doing much against PSU's defense. And PSU won't score 35 on Florida State's D. Like I said originally, I'm thinking somewhere around 24-10. I like USC at -8ish for two reasons. 1) Like Georgia, this is a virtual home game for USC. Even though Texas looked very comfortable there last year, USC has played plenty of big games in that stadium. 2) The Big 12 champ has breezed through the conference and then laid an egg in their bowl game the past few years. I think UT may be different from those OU teams, but I guess I'm willing to bet that they aren't. -
Was he standing near the Festivus Pole when he accomplished this feat?

Did you forget the sarcasm switch, or the ??? I sure hope so.

This one's easy for me...Any of you in Buffalo know what I'm talking about- It's the commercial that's been running for about 5 years; it's got the WIBV News Channel 4 crew with the song, where the chorus goes "I hear sleigh bells ring...blah, blah,blah....Happy Holidays from Channel Four!" Absolutely the most annoying song, and the commercial plays constantly. I change the channel immediately as soon as I hear the intro. When my family is around for the holidays, if it comes on, they crank the TV up real loud because they know I hate it so much. Bastards!!! -

Anyone who could make Vinny look good definitely had some talent. Too bad about the injuries to the dome. Watch out Roscoe! You little guys gotta get down after the catch! -
If I could tell Tony Dungy "I'm sorry for your loss" I call him right now. Unfortunately, I'm here on a Bills message board chit-chatting with football fans about football, and other issues. I lost a sibling to an auto accident. Trust me, I know what it's like to hear "So sorry for your loss" and "Such a terrible tragedy" 200+ times each day over the course of four days. To see some of my friends arrive, and talk to them about anything that would get my mind off my sister was welcome. I guess I'm not saying it doesn't do anything...You just kind of numb those comments out. Donations to MADD in my sis's honor made a difference, not a handshake and a one-liner. Don't you think one of Tony Dungy's immediate thoughts, after his family concerns, was how this would affect his team this season? Maybe, "How can I keep them focused on a Super Bowl run?"
-
Holding the door means the old woman doesn't have to open it. It does something. Writing on a message board that you should hold doors open is what doesn't do anything. You pretend for a three-sentence post that you are not so self-absorbed, and then forget about Tony Dungy and his family as soon as you hit "Add Reply" and go eat lunch. But you wrote "what a tragedy, best wishes," so you are more heartfelt than the guy who asks about the line. Please. All talk, no action, like me and most everyone else here.

19-26 for 109, 0 TD, 0 INT this saturday -
Everyone is all high and mighty about Colin's comments--relax...We all know it's a tragedy, and sending your best wishes to Tony and the fam is nice, but big deal. Don't chastise Colin for writing something that a lot of people were thinking, and something that is already being acted on in Vegas and online gambling facilities. Colin knows it's a tragedy. Dont get pissed because he's exploring the "football" side of it on a "football message board." If you want to make a difference, donate some money to a group that helps children with suicidal tendencies. Don't think that writing "Best wishes" on a message board does anything at all.

I understand this kid, at 18 years old, possibly had a lot of thoughts about his father not being there for him, or loving football more than him, etc (not trying to play psychologist here.) What strikes me is he has three younger siblings: 1 in middle school, 1 in kindergarten, and 1 in preschool. It's a shame he couldn't take what he was feeling about his father being absent (if that even was the case), and turning it into a positive- being a role model for his younger brothers. Those poor youngsters are going to have a hard time understanding this. Always a horrible tragedy; the time of year compounds it...Good luck and Holiday Blessings to the Dungys.

Thank you for that wonderful news. However, this season, we needed her more than ever!!!

I think the Bills are crazy to take a QB, but damn Jim! The guy is 37-1 with two (maybe three) national titles and a Heisman Trophy! You're pretty tough to impress! Whether he was winning games, or just not losing them, any quarterback with that record is pretty impressive in my book. The big question on him will be how he holds up mentally when he is playing for a bad team. He's lived the high life so far, being the media darling QB on the only football show in LA, while consistently winning games. Will he be able to handle the fan and media pressure, in an unfamiliar new home, on a franchise with a losing attitude?
