Think again. Tedford coached at Fresno State from '92-'97. Carr was a true freshman third stringer in 1997, and he threw 11 passes that year. Tedford was off to Oregon after that season, while Carr became the backup at Fresno in '98 and threw 40 passes. He was a medical redshirt in 1999, and then became the starter and set school records in 2000 and 2001, becoming the #1 pick in the NFL in spring of '02. By the time he was drafted, he was four years removed from the 11 passes he threw while Tedford was tutoring him. Did you just hear someone else say that about Joey Harrington and think it sounded smart? By the way, don't blame Tedford for Harrington not succeeding in the NFL. The guy's name is "Joey" for chrissakes. How could he expect to be good?

Sounds like we better buck up to pay for a bridge to this island so that we can verify for certain whether or not it is uninhabited.

Yeah, I did hear that...I heard Meyer even tweaked the offense halfway through the season because Leak was not enough of a runner to excel the way Alex Smith did. I heard they signed a prep star who everyone wanted- some lefty who can really sling it and is a good runner. Maybe Meyer will add a more "traditional" offense for Leak's last year, and then get back to his quintuplet option when the young buck is in there.

I'm calling bullsh*t!!! That article was about the Panthers! False advertising!!! -
If the NFL would just openly admit that they love gambling- and trust me, they do (what other sport has weekly injury reports with rules, and fines teams for inaccuracies?)- then possibly the Seneca Nation of Indians could step in for Ralph. With two casinos in the WNY area, they would have the capital. If hardworking Buffalonians are going to lose their money at the tables and slots, at least they could feel good knowing that part of the $400 they left at the casino will go to their beloved Buffalo Bills. And wouldn't a Bills-Redskins Super Bowl rematch provide a crazy storyline??? Never happen though.

I suppose we'll have to wait to see who declares for the NFL and who stays, but who do we have as favorites for the 2006 Heisman? I assume Brady Quinn is coming back, so you would have to put him at the top of the list. He plays in an offense where he will have the opportunity to put the ball in the air and rack up some numbers, he will play 3/4 of his games on national TV, and he has the vast media coverage that ND generates. Chris Leak will be back, correct? His second year in Urban's offense should help. Adrian Peterson, if he stays healthy, will make some noise. And who knows what Mike Hart at Michigan can do when healthy. Ted Ginn at OSU has the hype and the media coverage necessary to win the trophy, but he has to show up every game, especially with no more Santonio. LenDale White would have been the boss at USC had he stayed, and he would've had a shot at the trophy, but he's coming out. Same thing for Maurice Drew at UCLA. (Of course, everyone would have been playing second fiddle to Vince Young if he chose to stay in.) Dwayne Jarrett, WR for USC, will be back as a junior, but it depends if one of their young QB's can get him the ball. Who else is on the radar for Heisman '06???

I guess you didn't hear....Elway had some dental work done, and he donated his old horse teeth to Brady Quinn's sister.

That's because Ricky Williams just took a year off, he didn't retire. -
Drew Brees' labrum injury hurt the Jets also. There were many rumors that the Jets were sniffing around Chargers facilities trying to get an idea of what it would take to get Phillip Rivers in a trade. They were reported to be dangling their #5 1st round pick out there to San Diego. Just like the earlier rumors of Herm going to KC, which were rigorously denied, you have to belive that the Jets were moving forward on this because of the persistence of the rumors. Now with Brees' injury, the Chargers may be bashful to pull the trigger until they have an idea of his recovery time and outlook for 2006. I would assume they should have a decent idea of the success of the surgery by the April draft, so maybe it will happen...

Mack Brown said the reason they were successful was because they left Vince alone and stopped trying to tinker with him. Do you seriously think that he'll be able to 1) Run like he did in college against NFL linebackers and safety??? AND Do you think he'll 2) End up with an NFL QB coach, OC, and Head Coach who won't try to tinker with his motion??? I know he's 6'5'', but so are most offensive and defensive linemen. His throwing motion takes his height advantage and makes him about 5'10". Vince will always be a better athlete, but Leinart will be a better pro. He's been playing in a pro offense for 3 years, studying film and reading defenses like a pro. He hasn't been playing sandlot football. Leinart's arm can be questioned at times, but I think it's more about his ball flight. He has the arm, but sometimes, like the INT in the Rose Bowl, he tries to float it in when zipping it would be better.

Cool, another thread calling out Jerry Sullivan!!! BTW, Cotrell led the Bills defenses to rankings of 6, 1, and 3 from 1998-2000. His downfall with the Jets, after he had turned their defense around, was more about management decisions- for example, letting Farrior walk while re-signing aging gimps like Mo Lewis and Sam Cowart and Marvin Jones at LB. The Jets recent draft picks of DT Robertson (traded up to get him) and ILB Vilma prove that they know they were lacking in talent. Cotrell took the fall for that. With the Vikes, the D has been respectable, and Cotrell has done it with many of the same players who the Bills considered either disposable or not worthy of the price they were asking. I think he'd do better than most here. -
Maybe UB isn't that good?

I had a real feeling they were winning with smoke and mirrors. I know he has recently been knighted on this board, but I am not sold on Reggie Witherspoon. I had no opinion either way until last year's MAC final, when there was no question he had the more talented team. He sat and watched as UB's 20-point lead was whittled away. He might as well have been sitting next to me on the couch because he made zero adjustments. And then, after Ohio (who was a good team) battled back, UB had the ball in a tie-game with a chance to win on the last possession. Reggie lets the clock run all the way down to about 6 seconds left, and then calls timeout. He had senior All-Everything Turner Battle, who hit a few buzzer beaters during the year, but he instead chose to have one of his big men launch a three from the corner. Obviously he missed, and because of the little time left, there was no rebound opportunity. UB goes on to lose on a tip-in in OT. I blamed Reggie. BTW, I'm not just typing this because they've lost two, I said the same thing a few months ago. -
Sorry, no linky...There was a recent poll in Sports Illustrated where they asked current NFL QB's who's arm they wish they had. Brett Favre led the way with around 30% of the vote, but John Elway, who hasn't played in the NFL since 1999, ranked second with about 18%. I thought that was hilarious. He was the only non-active QB on the list. I think Vick was 3rd, and maybe Palmer 4th and Carr 5th...

Bills rank #6 in the misery index NFL's Top 25 Miserable Moments- Pretty funny (Bills at 7, 6, and 2) NFL Standings 1979-2005- Bills right in the middle of the road with the sh*tty Patriots. Thank God for the 90's!!!

Seriously! Donahoe had 5 years, how come we don't have 5 Pro Bowl lineman??? BTW, Denver's O-line is cheap, undersized, and is made up of zero Pro Bowlers. Oh yeah, and they were 100 yds away from having two 1000 yard rushers. Sounds like solid analysis from a guy who made up his mind in training camp that Gandy blows. Had you paid attention, you would've noticed he was the most durable, consistent O-lineman. Nobody owned Gandy during the year. Jason Taylor had a good game in Buffalo (2 sacks) and was virtually invisible the next time they played in Miami. 'Nuff said. -

I think he's underclass--maybe he didn't declare yet??? I really don't know. If he plays like he played against Oklahoma (lazy) I don't want him. We could sure use a few high-motor guys!!! NOTE: No Reggie Bush either. -

As a nitwit, I would like to respond. Your $25 million O-line leaves $65 million for the other 48 guys on the team. But since we are borrowing against the future by going up into the $110 mil range, (and we're using $78 mil on starters), we are leaving $53 mil for our other 18 starters. That is $2.9 mil per player. Bye bye TKO, hello Josh Stamer. Oh, but I forgot, our O-line is going to turn Sam Aiken into an unstoppable touchdown machine. What happens when our Jonas Jennings-esque $5 million lineman plays only 3 games? The message boards will be crying about how your squad has no depth because you mortgaged all the money in the starters. You also shouldn't have written that you thought your team could get by with 48-50 guys. That didn't add any credibility to your argument. Your team better win THIS year, cause you're going to have some cutting to do. But I'm sure a few of those $450K backups can step right in. Sven, I hate to tear on this plan, because I don't have the time or desire to put that much thought into something of my own. You obviously did some thinking on this, and I commend that. However, it leaves out a lot of variables. And, I just can't fathom putting that much money into your line when the position has such a high rate of injury.
