Has anyone brought on an airplane

I long for the pre-9/11 days when I could bring my Original Whizzinator on an airplane without causing a scene. -
Reason #1 not to like Kobe
smokinandjokin replied to EndZoneCrew's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wonder how many of those teammates are calling him 81 because they are impressed with the talent it takes to score that many, or because of the amount of shots it takes to score that many. I thought it was hilarious when B-Dawg was on his rant about Kobe leading a team of C-level players to the playoffs, and constantly bringing up the fact that the Lakers have one of the worst rosters in the NBA. Why do you think that is??? Look no further than '81' himself. It was well-known this past offseason that nobody wanted to play with the guy. He's a selfish, horrible teammate who drives players and coaches out of town. What potential All-Star is going to go to the Lakers and stand around to watch Kobe launch 40+ shots per game? It's amazing that the Clip-show is the more attractive L.A. team right now. Kobe should take a look over there and watch Elton Brand if he wants to see what an MVP-candidate does to lift his team to victories. I wanted to post this in B-Dawg's original thread, but by the time I noticed it had gotten moved to PPP, they had been off the Kobe topic for about 8 pages. -
For those of you with the NFL Network,

I'd love to see D'Brick come to the Bills and in his first game, give up two sacks, false start twice, and hold twice. We'd find a way to run this 'can't miss, stud, fixture at LT for years to come' right outta town. Big Mike had all the same expert opinions, no-sack stats, and can't miss labels when he came out of Texas. I think we need an impact DT personally. Gandy was fine this past year-- and playing next to Fat Bennie, he was basically alone on that side. If the Bills have a good line, and the team still sucks, what is everyone going to complain about? -

I also was in favor of hiring Sherman,
smokinandjokin replied to smokinandjokin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm sure most teams knew he would demand some serious coin also. -
How come Sherman, a man with a commendable record as a head coach and with front office experience, only received one other interview? The Bills and the Saints were the only two teams to interview this guy. In an offseason where nine teams (not counting the Packers) are hiring or have hired new head coaches, why is this guy not getting a look? Are we missing something here? I realize a lot of teams went with former coordinators who are becoming first-time head coaches, but why didn't Sherman get more than a sniff? That being said, I realize that Jauron was not exactly the hottest candidate out there either. But in all of our clamoring as fans to hire Sherman, it seems no NFL people were too interested in him, despite his solid record.

"System's don't win, players do."
smokinandjokin replied to portisizzle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't see how we could possibly have a rational debate on the 'Players Make the System' vs. 'System Makes the Players' argument without Hollywood Donahoe and AKC trading blows. -
Jauron certainly knows what an ineffective QB looks like. In his years as head coach, here were the Bears starters: 1999- Shane Matthews 2000- Cade McNown 2001- Jim Miller 2002- Jim Miller 2003- Kordell Stewart Ouch, it had to suck watching that every week. Hopefully JP wins the job. He's the best QB on the roster IMO.

"System's don't win, players do."
smokinandjokin replied to portisizzle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
50.1% players 49.9% system 100% coach's ability to adjust his system to his players strengths. A coach will not be successful if he thinks he can buy the best athletes and have them make plays on the field, regardless of the defense they play in. At the same time, a coach will not be successful if he thinks 'his' system is the best, and stubbornly refuses to adjust to the strengths and weaknesses of his players. -
Pittsburgh favored by 3.5 points
smokinandjokin replied to smokinandjokin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
But isn't it an NFL bylaw that at least one team (and sometimes both teams) in the Super Bowl have to complain for two weeks that they don't get the respect they deserve? As far as the AFC playoff teams, Seattle is better than Jacksonville only, IMO. -

smokinandjokin replied to smokinandjokin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I do like that both team's run an offense where the defense usually knows what's coming, but they can't stop it. With Seattle's o-line bearing down on the linemen and LB's, it's going to take a huge game out of Polamalu to stop Alexander. I somehow get the feeling he'll be up for it. -

I think they are a solid squad also, with the MVP RB, a very solid QB, and a pressuring, play-making defense. I think the general bias is not East coast vs. West coast; it is more the belief that the AFC is much, much better than the NFC. Also, a 3.5 point spread isn't scoffing in the face of Seattle. A touchdown or greater and they would have a reason to cry about respect. But with the way Pittsburgh has played on the road, you have to make them the favorite. Seattle has not had to leave the Pacific Northwest, where they have a HUGE homefield advantage. That crowd makes some noise. That, plus the way they've played in the last six weeks, is why I lean towards the Steelers. -

PJ Bottoms and Molly's Pub were both shut down recently for serving to minors, so cross those two off the list of potential majors. -
Pittsburgh and the under is what I would lean towards today. What do y'all think?

Kobe puts up 81 pts on Raptors
smokinandjokin replied to B-Dawg12's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Lebron just dumped 51 in a game over the weekend to become the youngest player in NBA history to score 5000 pts. He was almost a full year younger than the previous record-holder, Kobe Bryant. Also, Lebron went to the team that actually drafted him, instead of stating that he would only play for the Lakers. He went to a team that was horrible and had no chance of attracting any fans or free agents, and has made it a desirable place to buy a ticket or sign a contract. His career averages, for the guy who just turned 21 at the end of December: 25.5 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 6.5 apg, 1.86 spg And, if you want to see what they're doing this year, go to this page, and go to the Head-to-Head Comparisons section. Select the LA Lakers and Kobe Bryant, and compare. Lebron has him in every category except ppg and FT%. Lebron James is the next Jordan. -
Orgasmic Happiness 15 Years Ago Today
smokinandjokin replied to Mark VI's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was 12 years old and I was at the game with my father, my uncle, and my grandfather, about 8 rows from the top of the upper deck in the corner. It was unbelievable. IIRC, didn't the Raiders storm down the field with a nice drive for their FG on their first possession? Blanked after that. I remember waiting around in the stadium after the game for about 45 minutes hoping that the Bills would come back out and take a lap. Didn't happen though. -
high risk/high reward/short term investments

I was considering a similar play: Teasing Pitts up to +9 and the over in Car/Sea down to 38ish. -
Nah, I couldn't even see his shoes because there was an empty stall in between us. The last thing I wanted to do was lean down and sneak a peek over there. For all I know, we would have done it at the same time and stared each other in the eye!

I was out hitting the bottle pretty hard last night. I met a good pal of mine at the local saloon around 8pm, and our plan was to watch the first period of the hockey game, which started at 10. Needless to say, we were still firmly planted at our barstools deep into the post-game show. I just ate lunch at work, and it must have gotten things moving around, because I rapidly felt the urge to "drop the Cosby kids off at the pool." I know this will be a doozy, coming off the five hours of Molson Canadian draft last night. There are four stalls in the men's room, and I hop in to the furthest one down. There's a guy already sitting at the second one down. As I prepare to do the business, I hear a "Hey, how's it goin?" I don't know if this guy is talking on a cell phone or what, so I say, "Are you talking to me?" He says, "Yeah, how's it goin?" I replied with some lame answer like, "I dunno, pretty good I guess. I mean, it's Friday, right?" So this guy proceeds to talk my ear off for the entire duration of my dump...Asking me questions like "What department do you work in" and stuff like that. The hilarious part was that I was a little "gun shy" at first if you know what I mean. But then I just went for it and really dominated the men's room. This dude continued the conversation, even through all my tooting. Then he got up, flushed and told me to have a nice weekend, and that was it. I never saw his face or anything. I walked out of the bathroom laughing pretty good. I've never experienced a stall talker like that before. I posted a few months ago about how I cut the cheese in a meeting, so sorry for the repeat in bathroom humor. Just thought I'd share that one for some of the other low-brow crew on the board. I know I thought it was rediculously strange and hilarious at the same time. The last thing I expected when I sat down was the ole "Hey, how's it goin" line.
