  1. In one of the undercard races, the 7th race at Pimlico, I got an inside tip on Sister of Quinn.
  2. I don't think there will be a decent price for Brother Derek. I think he'll pretty much stay at 3/1, but I could even see him moving down to 5/2. IMO, there's not enough value to take Barbaro (even) and Derek (3/1) in either order over the field in a trifecta bet. You lay out so much money, and the return is mush, especially if a 4/1 horse grabs 3rd. Barbaro is class, and undefeated. Obviously a special horse. I just have a feeling about Brother Derek tomorrow. He showed maturity and moxie in the KD.
  3. I believe there were several "Why don't the Jills do this?" threads when they found the two Topcats munching box in a bathroom stall. I was hoping to read something along those lines here. Seriously, at the risk of sounding shallow, the tryouts should be 100% based on looks. Just parade them through a room and give them the 'yea' or 'nay.' Hell, I'll take a Saturday to judge that. There's 70,000 people in the stadium, and not one of them cares about the dance routine. Just go out there and wave and shake your T&A a little bit and we're happy. We don't need the girl with the busted face from the itty bitty titty committee, just because she has had 14 years of dance training. Give me Destiny from the Sundowner and throw her two pompoms.
  4. Really, he's not an enforcer or an offensive threat. He's just pure energy. He brings an element that is not seen in the rest of our 'interchangable' forwards. He is a maniac on the ice, hits everything that moves, and is solid down low. Not much for scoring, but he is probably good for about 8-10 goals a year. There were games in the middle of the season before he got hurt where he and Gaustad on a line dominated opponents, cycling the puck down low. He's great on the forecheck and makes defenders pay with the body for playing the puck. Also, he fights!!! Probably won't fight now because it's the playoffs, and because he's got a sore head...but when you think about it, if somebody needs to get challenged, all we have is Gaustad to do the business. I wouldn't mind a Mair for Pyatt switch at all, and that's with Pyatt playing pretty well.
  5. I was reading in the paper today that the Sabres are VERY cautious about putting guys on planes who have had concussions. They believe that Maxim flying to Buffalo just a couple of days after suffering a concussion in Russia a few years ago contributed to his symptoms and he missed most of the year. Same thing with Connolly and Hecht two years ago. They had a West Coast trip right after they took a head shot, and the plane ride sent them into severe dizzy spells, etc. I think Mair flew after his original concussion this year too, and he had a relapse. Still, the fact that Connolly has not been on the ice yet is not good news. I really don't expect to see him back at all. He had 5 goals and 6 assists in 6 games- DAMN!!! Sabres Notebook- concussions
  6. Crude but hilarious. They used to shoot them on the track when they had a severe injury, now I think they give them an injection that kills them. Anyways, OT shouldn't matter, apparently the Sabres can score less than 5 minutes in without a problem. They were just toying with Philly in that first game.
  7. Pimlico - May 20th, 2006 - Race 12 Preakness S. - Grade: 1 Estimated Local Post Time: 6:10 PM Race Type: Stakes Breed: Thoroughbred Age Restriction: Three Year Old Purse: $1,000,000 Distance:One And Three Sixteenth Miles Surface: Dirt Post / Horse / Jockey / Trainer / Odds 1 Like Now (FL) Garrett K. Matz 1/1 7 Sweetnorthernsaint (FL) Kent J. Desormeaux Michael J. Trombetta 4/1 8 Bernardini (KY) Javier Castellano Thomas Albertrani 8/1 9 Diabolical (KY) Ramon A. Dominguez Steve Klesaris 30/1 As for my plays, I'm not sure yet. Hard to bet against Barbaro, after winning the Derby so easily without much urging from Prado. I was really impressed with Brother Derek's race in the KD. He didn't have a good trip, breaking out of the 18 post, had to check up right when he started moving in the backstretch. Yet he showed he could rate, and even after sitting 4 or 5 wide the whole race, still had enough to get up for a tie for 4th place in a pretty fast race. I hate betting favorites, but I like the tri with 5 & 6 either order with the 1. Maybe I'll work in something with the 8 horse, I've read some good things about his workouts.
  8. I think I'll play the role of "I'll be on 'Off the Wall' until September" guy. Don't have too much fun over here without me.
  9. I would've thought cash on the spot would drop you down more than $300.
  10. Teen Wolf. One of the crowning achievements in the history of cinema.
  11. Subarus are okay, but when something busts on them, you pay out the ass. My girlfriend has an Outback (I don't think she's a dyke, but that would really be something!) I just had to drive her to work yesterday because her engine light came on on Tuesday night. I don't know what happened specifically, but it was $400 to fix. And all wheel drive my ass-- I buried that thing in a ditch after the Bills-Pats game this past December when I skidded on some ice. Also, there's a major design flaw on the Outback, IMO. When you drive on the highway, you constantly hear a whistling wind coming into the car. If you notice, on the top of the doors, there is no frame. The window just goes up, no frame enclosing the window. When the doors shut, there never seems to be a complete seal, thus creating the wind. Let me tell you, it is focking annoying!!! And I've been in several other Outbacks and noticed the same thing.
  12. Hanging near the bottom, but I'm just like Edmonton- a dangerous #8 seed!!! Conference Finals: 2 Carolina vs 4 Buffalo Buffalo in 5 6 Anaheim vs 8 Edmonton Edmonton in 7
  13. Haha, I'm wheelin in a '97 Lincoln Continental. The thing is a boat!!! tater, maybe I'll see you at the early bird special for dinner, then it's off to bingo!
  14. Looks like I will be at a tavern for game 2. Games 6 and 7 won't matter because it's Buffalo in 5!
  15. If their offense is 29th in the NFL again, I predict they take a safety.
  16. "Perhaps we should've actually watched these guys play before we drafted them," Levy said in a conference call with the media. "Our rookies have a long way to go before they are NFL-caliber, but I think we have the coaching staff in place to get them to where they need to be. We have a lot of teachers on the staff who enjoy working with young players." Levy and head coach Dick Jauron both concluded that post-draft reports were most likely correct, and they could've traded down at least ten spots and gotten both of the players they drafted in the first round. "We don't put a lot of stock in the 'expert' opinions out there, but after seeing these players in practice, nobody in their right mind was taking them that high," Jauron said. Also in Bills news, rookie safeties Donte Whitner and Ko Simpson were arrested last Saturday after a disturbance in a back-alley Buffalo porn theater. Both men were arrested for disorderly conduct, posession of a controlled substance, and public lewdness. "We drafted them because they are students of the game," Levy said. "When they told me they were going to check out some film on tight ends, I had no idea it would come to this."
  17. From bankruptcy to just plain bank
  18. Hardly read comics...The Far Side is my all-time fav but I also like Shoe.
  19. As long as she shaves her box, I can deal with the armpits. I'm not sticking my face in her armpit.
  20. I liked that quote too. He is lucky- he's got the Drury/Grier/whoever line, which is probably the best defensive line, and then behind them, he has three lines where the players are all relatively interchangeable, but all could be considered checking lines or scoring lines. He said their plan was to roll lines in Game 5 vs. Ottawa, and play very short (i.e. 30 seconds) shifts. In doing so, if Ottawa was trying to match lines, they would have to be extremely quick with their changes also. Lindy said he didn't care which line was out there against Ottawa's guys. What a luxury, when you have everyone playing responsibly in the defensive zone, Lindy can focus on matching up his defensive pairings against the opposing lines. He doesn't have to worry about the forwards, because all of them can handle their business.
  21. Lindy Ruff- Sullivan editorial I knew the Sabres have been primo whenever they've made the playoffs under Lindy, but these stats are as solid as can be:
  22. Did you travel to Ottawa for game 5? That must have been you on fire that set the arena alarm off during the handshake.
  23. That's good sheet tater. I scored $60 with the big Pominville goal...There was 10 of us watching the game at my buddy's house. With 10mins left in the 3rd, it was 2-2, everyone threw in $5 and picked their player for the winner. No lie, I took Pominville (some stroker took Fisher from the Sens!!!) Then when it went to OT, everyone threw in $1 and picked another guy, with your first player carrying over into OT. I took Campbell with my OT choice. Well, you know the rest, P'ville nets me $60 (which quickly disappeared at the bar afterwards. Pominville is a generous man when it comes to buying beers!) You'll be at Rd 3 tater? I'm going to the first home game, Game 3...Not sure where the seats will be- I think my buddy's girlfriend is knobbing some dude off to get these tix. As of now I don't think I'll be at Game 4, and we are in for Game 6 if it gets there.
