  1. What do you want to know? I'll respond to your questions from your earlier post. Try listening. They had an interview with Spikes as he was walking into camp yesterday. He said he's not sure how things will go until practice starts (hmmm.) He'll take it slow. He doesn't need preseason games because once a dog knows how to bite, he doesn't forget. Oh yeah, I forgot, THIS MORNING when I was driving to work, I also heard an interview with Nate Clements, saying it depends on the individual for how long it takes to pick up new schemes. That also came as quite a surprise!!! Per Marv Levy, both sides are close with the reps for both players, and they are looking for a deal that works well for the club and the player. They are looking forward to getting both players into camp as soon as possible. SHOCKER!!! BREAKING NEWS!!! I thought you didn't want to hear uniform talk? Marketing has gone well, as it has been WIDELY reported that only single seats remain for the Bills first four home games. The rest will be a tough sell because nobody is very optimistic about the team, and there are four late-season (cold weather) games. You would have heard this many times had you been listening, because they have been pouring over the schedule for the last month on WGR. Really??? You really want to hear this??? Okay, well, he would've said it's a great honor to be named in the company of other Bills greats, and he's very excited about it. He's always loved Buffalo and the fans...blah blah blah blah Marv has been interviewed twice per week since May 1. He's very excited about seeing the product on the field and is anxious to see the position battles play out. You're right, how dare they talk about the Sabres on a Buffalo radio station. Let's find out what the Dolphins are up to. Schmuck. But since you asked: Patriots are the team to beat. RB and LB are question marks. We'll know more once camp opens. Dolphins are coming off a promising season, but have question mark at QB. Daunte's health? We'll know more once camp opens. Jets are in limbo. Curtis Martin on PUP. QB situation up in the air. We'll know more once camp opens.
  2. Still working on that 4th and 7 play.
  3. Everyone gets your point, dude. Relax. You don't need to reply to seven other threads questioning WGR's programming. You voiced your opinion and that was fine, but now you're really coming off like a B word. Wah wah, it's the first day of camp, and I don't know what size sweatpants Shaud Williams is wearing...They should interview Marv and ask him...
  4. I'm not disagreeing with anybody in this thread. You just have to understand, a promising outlook for the Bills is 8-8. It is a rebuilding year under a new regime, after five rebuilding years under the old regime. People are excited for the NFL, but the buzz that usually accompanies the Bills camp just isn't in the air this year. I'm sure it will build as the team takes the practice field. Trust me, the QB contest, McCargo/Whitner's contracts, TKO's achilles, the schedule, the OLine, predicted records, etc. etc. etc., have all been discussed ad nauseum over the past month. I don't mind hearing about issues critical to the Sabres instead of pure speculation about Bills players that haven't even seen the field yet. I will fully absorb all of the training camp reports as they start coming out. But I don't find it absurd or alarming that on the morning before camp has even opened, they aren't talking about the same Bills topics they've been discussing the entire summer. I am done with Sabres logo talk, though. Time to move on from that. Thankfully Quinn dished out a little info yesterday, so hopefully that calms all the crazies down.
  5. I hope he's okay. Troy Vincent broke JP's leg when he ran into him.
  6. All good points Lv...But honestly (not sure if you are in WNY or not) the normal excitement that surrounds the opening of Bills camp just isn't there this year. I agree that hockey is not even close to the national appeal that the NFL has, but hockey is a big part of Buffalo's identity in the sports world. The Bills will always be #1, but this is also big-time hockey town. There are huge issues with salaries that could have a big impact on the long-term success of an NHL franchise in Buffalo. And with the playoff run the Sabres just had, where they were arguably the best team in the NHL during the playoffs, people are still riding that wave. They are interested if this team that the city fell in love with can be kept together. After 5 rebuilding years with the Bills, it is hard to get excited about year 1 of their new rebuilding program. No doubt I'm pumped about football...But all of those questions you mentioned, I really couldn't care less about the answers. Like I said, wait until Monday, and you will have more coverage than you know what to do with.
  7. I was just reading through this thread to make sure that nobody posted this already...That was my theory also, that the Tour's testosterone thresholds were based on the previous winner's tests, so cleary Landis and his full beanbag would double the levels of one-nut Lance. Well done!
  8. It's official PTS. You are TBD's tabloid poster. From now on, I will read your posts (especially those regarding Sabres' uniforms) like I am in line at the grocery store and looking at the Enquirer headlines. The topic will be interesting, but I most certainly will not buy it, because these hot tips you receive always end up in the can.
  9. I agree somewhat, but it's obvious after the Sabres recent run that they captivated WNY, and the Bills just don't have all that much to be super-excited about. Quinn did give a pressy yesterday regarding the uniforms, which obviously has had everyone in a tizzy. And the Sabes did sign Lydman and Pville to long-term deals yesterday. And they have a player up for arbitration on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday next week. So there's lots to discuss. What are they going to say about the Bills on the morning camp opens? I hope Spikes can return to form...I hope we find a Qb...I hope they sign their top picks...blah blah. Don't worry, give it a week and you will have Bills coverage coming out your ears.
  10. The difference is it would be two weeks before the family noticed the cat was not around.
  11. Hopefully he went down in a blaze and was trying to score some of off Erin Andrews like this youngster did. It would be a shame to lose your job for trying to dry hump Holly Rowe
  12. I will be out of town on 8/25, but there is a good chance I would be heading up the weekend of 9/22. I have a few buddies coming into town for the opener (sadly for them, they are Jets fans) and I always make sure to show them Canada's finest tourist attractions. I'll certainly keep you posted.
  13. Nate's above average, and I do believe he wants to win, so in that aspect, he's a good teammate. However, if the team lost, but Nate returned a pick for 6, he'd be okay with that. I was at San Diego last year to watch Nasty Nate have one of the worst games by a corner I have ever seen. Brees-to-McCardell looked like Montana-to-Rice with Clements trailing by a good three yards. It's true, Nate often takes the opponent's best receiver. But he does it with a lot of help over the top from the safeties (not that that's different from any other team's defensive scheme.) Even though Nate has the self-appointed nickname, I think McGee on the other side is more of the 'Playmaker'.
  14. Clearly Wikipedia could be wrong, but I read this somewhere else also. He maybe didn't play in '82, but it says he was part of the squad. You PSU fans would certainly know better than I would, though. Conlan
  15. Start with the knowledge from Day 1 that you will never see that security deposit back.
  16. If playing grab-ass in the bushes with a 52 YO overweight van driver is wrong, I don't want to be right!!!
  17. If the current rules had been in place for the past 5 years, Briere's high-season would be much, much better than 65 points. He totaled 58 this year in 48 games. He also proved he could play a full season when the rules and hits were not so forgiving. Still, I see your point. I can't understand why if the Blues would pay Jay McKee 4 yrs/$16 million, the Sabres wouldn't offer that exact same deal to Briere. I think he would've signed it.
  18. If I can get it for ~$100 like you did, I would definitely consider it. However, it could cause some gambling problems...I instituted a rule for myself two years ago that I would only bet college games that I could watch on TV. It's not like I was losing money, but I was just making too many bets on a Saturday, with a full day's worth of NFL action to follow on Sunday. Laying off the TCU-Baylor game ("It's a lock!") was not a big deal. Of course I bet to attempt to make money, but it's all fun, and definitely not over the top. If it's a game I'm going to watch, I enjoy placing a wager and having a rooting interest in the game. I could imagine myself on a rainy Saturday flipping around ESPN Gameplan with action on 25 games! Not good!
  19. Add to that the fact that he does sound senile when he speaks publicly. Nothing against the man, it's just a part of being in your upper-80s. Robert Kraft or Dan Snyder saying the CBA is confusing comes off completely differently than Ralph saying it's confusing. IIRC, a few years back, Ralph was the only owner who voted against holding the Super Bowl in NYC (contingent on the now-defunct Westside Stadium plans.) His reasoning wasn't that he was against a cold-weather SB, or a SB in NYC. He voted against it because he said everytime the owners review a site to be voted on as a future Super Bowl host, the research presented is thorough and the details are poured over. In the case of NYC, the commissioner and owners pushed the vote through without so much as a question asked. Ralph said that was b.s. and the normal protocol should be followed. I think he is still with it, but many times it does not come across that way.
  20. I don't think the team as a whole will present the opportunity for Marv and Ralph and Jauron to tell the league to kiss their asses. At least not this year. But Whitner playing at a high-level would be a start. That will earn them some capital as far as future decisions go, if their widely-panned top pick is a difference maker and plays worthy of his draft spot.
  21. Is that true? Didn't know that. Thanks for the info. I just assumed that citing Havlat's contract when attempting to project Briere's salary that Havlat was a UFA, but now that I think about it, he was a trade to Chi.
  22. Judging by the majority of those photos, I have to assume that fish tacos will be the preferred post-game meal for most of the players.
