  1. Both are very good teams. Ohio St could very well play for the NC, and Texas should handle OU and will be the favorite to win the Big 12 title game for yet another BCS-berth. I thought before the game, and mentioned it in this forum, that OSU would win the game because Troy Smith would play like a senior who's beaten Michigan and won the Fiesta Bowl, while Colt McCoy would play like a freshman who has chalked up one win against North Texas. For that reason alone, I couldn't believe Ohio St were 3-point underdogs. The line in my head would've been OSU by 1...But I gladly took the points... In the end, McCoy didn't play that bad. He seemed pretty poised overall, and stood in and took some shots to complete passes. He will be a good QB by the end of the year, and will probably be very good in years to come. But this game was too much to ask of a QB in his second game. The pick he threw was horrible (the skycam showed what he was looking at; I can't believe he threw that ball. If the LB didn't pick it, the safety and CB were going to fight each other for it.) But if Texas can punch that early drive in, instead of fumbling on the 2, who knows how the game turns out.
  2. Well, Arizona does play at LSU this Saturday night...
  3. I like the following: Seattle (-6) will cover @Detroit Philly (-4.5) will cover @Houston KC-Cincy OVER (46) 6 point tease- Buffalo (+15) AND over (35) I am lukewarm about the following: Carolina (-5) should cover at home vs. Atlanta Denver (-4) should cover @St. Louis New Orleans (+3) @Cleveland
  4. Who's this guy Tim and why are you smelling his grapes?
  5. Love it!
  6. This going to be brutal on Sunday night. NBC was already setting this up last night, and it could reach Bruschi proportions by Sunday. John Madden said last night that the hardest job in football is the mother of the QB (???) Then he went on to talk about how hard it will be for Mrs. Manning to watch on Sunday. WTF??? Watching your two mega-talented multi-millionaire sons compete at the top level of athleticism is tough? My ass. Remember when the Sabres had Wayne Primeau and he fought with his brother Keith when Buffalo played Philly? Now that was hilarious. That did make their mother cry, if I remember correctly. They both had to call her and apologize.
  7. He looked at the schedule and saw the December road game in Buffalo, so he decided to pack on a few extra lbs for body warmth.
  8. We always said that as history looked back on the early 90's Bills, their achievements would look remarkable once people got over the stigma of "four straight Super Bowl losses." Well, it's true. Football people obviously respect what those squads were able to do, as evidenced by the coach and QB being elected to the Hall of Fame, with the RB and DE soon to follow. Even more so, a current stat reiterates how resilient Marv and those Bills teams were. For the past five years, the team that has lost the Super Bowl has missed the playoffs. Starting with the 2001 season, the NYG, St Louis, Oakland, Carolina, and Philly have all missed the playoffs after going down in the Super Bowl. This year, Seattle will probably end that streak, but it speaks volumes about the 1990-93 Bills nonetheless. Berman mentioned it during the Swami's 2-minute drill on Sportscenter- he noted the current trend and then said how it was all the more remarkable the way the Bills were able to pull themselves off the mat time and again. Also, another interesting stat that could brighten the outlook for this season: In each of the previous nine seasons, the playoff field included at least five teams that didn't qualify for the postseason the previous year. That's nearly half of the 12 teams each year that did not qualify in the previous season. I'm not anticipating a return to the playoffs this year for the Bills, but this stat shows that it certainly wouldn't be out of the question. The longer they can hover around .500, the longer they will stay in the hunt...
  9. Let's stop talking about this b.s. with the Bills moving to Toronto and start planning the Sabres-Leafs game at the Ralph. Now THAT would be a spectacle. 70,000+ in the stands, probably more then half of them Leafs fans...That would be outta control.....I LOVE the idea......
  10. Non-issue. If anything, I think this actually helps the Bills. Miami has a couple extra days of rest, but at this point in the season, I don't think that's a factor. In truth, the Bills' staff have three extra days to watch film of the Fins and break down their tendencies. The Dolphins have some extra time off, but they don't have any film on us. They can't even go back to last year, as both the offense and defense have been overhauled. I think they have enough problems of their own to worry about.
  11. Boise St is not a bad team, especially at their place on a weeknight on ESPN. They have big aspirations of going undefeated and busting up the BCS party. The blue field is a bit of a gimmick, but they continuously recruit good players. I think they could finish in the top half of the PAC 10. But yes, Oregon St is dogsh-t. Big games for the conference is coming up in two weeks vs. the Big 12- Nebraska at USC and Oklahoma at Oregon. With Cal crushed by Tennessee, USC and Oregon are the pride of the conference. The PAC 10 needs both of those games to retain a little respectability.
  12. When you've got Matt Millen telling you that you made poor decisions, that has to be a wake-up call.
  13. The Bills, thanks to a punishing rushing attack and several penalties and sacks, go on an unprecedented TD drive that takes 29:14 off the clock. Willis accumulates 166 yards rushing on this drive alone, including a 1-yd TD plunge where he flattens Wilfork while carrying Bruschi on his back. Brady manages to take the Pats 81 yards in 44 seconds, throwing a 17-yard touchdown pass to Bruschi with 2 seconds left in the half. A Fred Smerlas sneeze from the press box blows the extra point off course. 7-6 Bills at halftime.
  14. Wow that was definitely close. Could Ramirez have patted the ball into his glove one more time before he threw it? What was with that? However, the ump made the call right away, and there was absolutely no argument from the Arizona player. I've seen the play several times, but I haven't seen a slowed down replay that shows me he's safe. But seriously, a two-hopper to short and the SS takes his sweet ass time to make it a bang-bang play at 1st? Crazy. It's a single if he beats that out, not an error on the SS. That would've been wild.
  15. She was drinking on a Wednesday night??? Didn't she have to go to work today?
  16. I heard an interview Dan Uggla from the Marlins, and he said the whole team was talking about it during the game (against the traditional baseball superstition.) He said they were bringing it up to Sanchez and pumping up the pitcher, saying he was going to do it. Between innings they were fanning him off with towels and joking with him and stuff like that. The Marlins sound like a good bunch of young players who are playing loose right now. Too bad there were about 8,000 people in the 65,000-seat stadium there to watch it (paid attendance was around 12,000, but reports say there were less than that there.)
  17. I've never heard a better piece of coaching then my little loop football coach's speech before each game. He would yell at the top of his lungs to a bunch of 11-year olds: "EVERYBODY HIT SOMEBODY!!!"
  18. That absolutely sucks. At least they don't make you get out of your car so they can kick you in the balls, too. Not yet, anyway...
  19. I spent a weekend at Miami OH. I can confirm that there were many fine honies there (and one especially hot one named Jamie in particular ) A good school to go get married...Some girlies with CASH over there... I spent five years at USC, so I can't complain (except that the football team was dogshat when I was there.) L.A. is a crazy place, so many hot chicks. 95% of female waitresses and bartenders (a.k.a. aspiring actresses) are bangin hot. At USC, many girls know they look good, and act like it...That attitude can get a little old, but staring at their cans never does! I'm tellin ya, I was impressed with UB today. Clearly not UFlorida or Georgia or USC, but a very good showing nonetheless.
  20. In a related story, there was highly enriched THC found in a Jamaican plant...
  21. To begin, I am a fan of tennis. As far as athleticism goes, tennis players have to rate near the top, and are as well-conditioned as any athletes in the world. I enjoy playing a little bit, and I used to really enjoy watching it. I have watched Federer vs Nadal. They are both outstanding. They actually play points and hit some incredible shots. However, there are so many players who have technologically enhanced rackets which has turned the game into a battle of 140mph serves. Occasionally a stab return will bounce in, and then the server buries a forehand. Point over. What a match. 7-6, 7-6, 6-7, 7-6. In football, dudes are grunting while trying to murder each other. In tennis, one guy grunts out a booming serve, the other guy grunts out a return that hits the frame of his racket, and then they wipe themselves off with a towel and do it again. So yes, I think football is much cooler. Federer has the chance to be the greatest of all time. But I don't think there's too many kids who say "I want to be like Roger Federer." Granted, if he was American, of course the hype machine would have huge billboards in Times Square and make the dude a legend. So that's not necessarily his fault. By the way, Sharapova's screaming is excellent.
  22. Sounds crazy. He must've mumbled something in his sleep that the cop didn't like...
  23. You lucky bastards!!!! I just had to drop something off at UB, and campus was swarming with premium trim. These girls are wearing some scandalous schit to class! I was nearly involved in three separate traffic accidents due to my wandering eyes. It was nine years ago this week that I entered my freshman year, and began the process of soaking up the entire college experience. It is a magical time. I went for five years. My only regret is that I didn't stay until I was at least 30. I am currently at work trying to come up with a reason to go back to UB today. I apologize to any of you with daughters/sisters/cousins at SUNY Buffalo. There's a good chance I was staring at their breasts today. This thread seems like an opportune time for JoeSixPack to post a pic of a hot gal...Ramius, feel free to update me (in great detail, please) about the goings on of the beautiful babies at FSU...
  24. The best advice I can offer is to go Inc instead of DBA if at all possible.
