I don't think he got out. Even the very front of the goalline closest to the 1-yard line is part of the end zone. He only made it back to the goalline at best.

Willis McGahee versus My 5 Year Old Nephew
smokinandjokin replied to SilverNRed's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Would you give the lottery ticket to Corey Dillon or Lawrence Maroney? Neither would I. But they can play RB on my team anytime. -
Yes. Yes I do. VERY good point Real. You people need to relax. Willis far and away the #1 back on the team. But we should bench him for an RB who was out of football at the beginning of the year? Just because a fat guy from Cheektowaga with chicken wing stains on his shirt doesn't like Willis' agent or where he went to college, that doesn't mean we should bench him. He will go home to Miami and play BIG. Relax.

Incredible restraint by Donohoe and Mularkey to bring him back after his awful first year. Everybody was calling for his head, especially after that short miss in the Pittsburgh game at the end of '04. That was the capper on a horrible season for Lindell. He worked with a specialist in the offseason before '05, and changed his approach to the ball and his leg swing a little. Those small adjustmets made him longer, more accurate, and very dependable last season. He worked with the same guy this past year and the results appear to be the same. I can't wait till we're down 24-23 and he has a 46-yarder for the game. We haven't seen him in that spot yet.

Was it? I didn't hear it. I love those things. Pretty corny but always good for a chuckle. I heard the one for fantasy football players (and it was funny because I can't stand f.f.)- It said something like, "This week, a fantasy victory for your fantasy players...Next week, a fantasy date with a fantasy woman." The dude who throws in the backup vocals always has the funniest lines. No attempt to hijack the thread. Thanks to all of those who protect and serve. You're running in while I'm running out. -
Very pleased. Honestly, it was weird going into this game. It seemed like I should've been worried about JP, or the OLine, but I wasn't. I was worried about the DLine and the run defense. Turns out that was well-founded. JP played well. He looked much better in the pocket and even when he broke out of the pocket, his eyes were still downfield. That said, one or two designed runs for JP would've been nice to keep the weak-side pursuit honest. The way everyone collapsed on Willis on that 4th down, I think JP walks into the end zone on a fake to #21 and a bootleg. But I know, we've seen the attempted QB bootleg before on a 4th down against New England...Oh Drew... We are not going to win many games scoring 10 points though.

I don't understand. Our offense scored 10 points (8 if you subtract for the safety) and our defense got MASHED by the run. Give the Dolphins the standard 3 points for playing at home, and I can easily see how it's a 7-point line.
-
Except it's the same old story. The Bills made plays that hindered them (two blocks in the back, failed 4th down) while the Pats made the plays they needed to to win the game (HELL of a TD catch by Pass.) Bottom line, you do not win in the NFL when your offense scores 10 points. And for yesterday, you can make it 8 points for the Bills offense when you factor in the -2 for the safety. That ain't gonna get it done, even when the Pats play as bad as they did. Every team in the NFL is so close, there are only a few plays that separate winning from losing. The Pats have been good at winning for 5 years, while the Bills have been good at losing for 5 years.

Cool info, thx Jack.

I disagree with the 'wrong call' statement. If the Bills go for it and don't make it, they are still up two scores and the Pats have the ball on the 7. If they kick the FG, they are still only up two scores and the Pats have the ball on the ~25-30. I LOVE the call. We kept kicking FG's last year when we played in Foxboro, and we let them hang around. Look how that turned out. I mentioned it before in another post: The Bills could've possibly won the game on that play, but they definitely didn't lose the game on that play.

I have a flag flying at the house that my good friend brought me from Afghanistan. He is Army Special Forces, and this flag was flying at their command post in Kandahar in 2003. I was honored he gave it to me. Quick question (I could probably google it but somebody may have the info): what is the purpose/history of flying a flag half-staff in honor of the deceased? It is a custom I would love to know the origins of. Is it US only or worldwide?

No we couldn't. I think 4 catches for 73 yards (Watson 3 for 50, Graham 1 for 23) suggests they had a few big plays, but with two rookie safeties playing most of the game, I wouldn't say that's bad at all. Whitner made a great read and broke early on Watson's route for his pick. Overall, not too bad. With the receivers NE had on the field, two rooks holding those two talented TE's to 4 catches is ok to me.

You would think Ronnie Brown would have a field day with our run defense.

The cops and firefighters always get the kudos. Here's a special thanks to the guy in the orange vest on the roadwork crew who holds the walkie-talkie and spins the "Stop/Slow" sign. Everybody always dogs that guy, but if he wasn't there, can you imagine the head-on collisions? Thanks for making my cruise through your construction site as safe as possible! You da man! -
14-2 edge in penalties. B. friggin' S.

The block in the back calls were killers. Clements and Royal may not have pushed the Patriots, but they did have their hands on their backs as both players went down. I think the first guy was going down on his own to try to tackle Whitner, and on the second one, Vrabel may have felt the contact and exaggerated a bit of a dive. Smart play if he did. Royal had no business with his hands on the back in that situation. Even a good clean block wouldn't have mattered- Price had the 1st and was going out of bounds. I question the discrepency in penalties..Only two for the Patriots??? Puhlease. But I don't argue those two blocks in the back. You see similar plays called all of the time against every team (well, almost every team...) The Bills just have to be smarter in those spots. -

Wilfork is one of the biggest, best DT's in the league. He's going to get penetration from time to time. The previous play was 3rd and 8, so Wilfork is on the sidelines taking a knee and drinking water while Fowler is pass blocking. After his little rest, Wilfork's ONLY job is to come in and blow the center back two yards. He will do it to every center he plays this year- we shouldn't be surprised it happened. I thought Fowler, after snap #1, had a pretty good game. -
It's alarming that Willis thought it was 3rd down (and I agree I-90, Willis needs to keep that sh-- to himself.) Had he known it was 4th, I agree with some other posters, he may not have necessarily ran harder. But he may have run differently. We'll never know. Either way, nice penetration by the Pats, there was not much there. Might have been worth a challenge for a poor spot, but there probably wasn't anything conclusive there either. The bottom line is the Bills possibly could've won the game on that play, but they definitely didn't lose the game on that play.

I went to Negril, Jamaica when I was in college for spring break. There is nothing funnier than walking down the beach, and a Jamaican guy is saying, "Parasailing, jetski, cocaine, ganja, ecstasy, boat tours..." All in the same sentence, just trying to sell whatever he can....

Pats cut fast Freddy!!!!!!!!!!
smokinandjokin replied to Eric/Hawaii's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
People are writing seven paragraph posts trashing the Pats and defending Fast Freddie, and we haven't even confirmed that he's been released yet... Can someone please post the release of the wire report that Smith was released? I'm not trusting Chris Brown's "blog" as a source of information on this matter. -

I really believe he is still on the team. Yesterday's Buffalo News had an article about how if activated, he will likely return punts for the Patriots. And this article is from yesterday's Boston Herald. He's listed on the roster on every print and electronic source I can find. I think Chris Brown of the Bills effed up when he said Freddie was released. -

Today's Buffalo News said that Jonathan Smith will be a part of the Patriots passing offense today. I said, "Huh?" Well, he's on the Patriot's roster, and also on the roster printed in today's sports section, so something is wrong here. -
One of the most unreal goalline stands. Two consecutive interference calls in the end zone on 3rd down had Cuse set up to tie. Iowa's defense was there when they needed to be, can't take that away from them...But damn does that make the Orange offense look inept. Do they have the QB sneak in the playbook?
