  1. I know our boy Freddy is up there with TD, Chris Watson, and Coy Wire on the Stadium Wall whipping post, but I heard him this morning on WGR (he will be on every Friday AM at 7:25.) He was actually not too bad...I was expecting much worse because the Bills are coming off a loss to his Patriots. His best comments- -We all questioned the Bills ability to stop the run, and apparently the Pats did too, which is why they only activated 3 WRs, and continued to hammer the two horses. -The Bills are not a great team, but are certainly not a horrible team. He agreed with the 4th down call to go for it, because when you are middle-of-the-road in the NFL, sometimes you have to throw caution to the wind to win games. He said everyone and their mother knew McGahee was coming...He didn't disagree, you have to ride your best player, but he also said a bootleg or a play-action would've had the over-persuing Pats defense scrambling. -He was impressed with Losman, and said he played better than 10 offensive points. The big issue is after he took that safety- does he go into the dumps and take all the blame, or does he pick up, move forward, and get better? -He said Belichick went for it on two 4th downs because, as Smerlas put it, "The Bills have a QB who can throw the ball 80 yards, and receivers who can get out there at catch it, so they knew if the Bills got the ball back they were in the game." -The Bills run defense will continue to be a question mark. There's not one player who is going to come in and change that. But the best way to combat that is to score more points on offense. If you can continue to lead by 8, 10, 14 points, the other team is eventually going to have to start throwing. -He was very impressed with the speed of the Bills D-Line, and their ability to get to Brady, which they always had trouble doing in the past. -He picks the Bills to win a close one this weekend over Miami, who he calls "yet again the most overrated team in the NFL."
  2. What a disappointment this conference is. Miami and FSU played another stinker in the opener, and then the Seminoles were down to Troy State late in the 2nd half in their next game, before eeking out a 24-17 win. Preseason BCS dark-horse Clemson fell to previously unranked Boston College in their ACC opener. Even the Big Least has gotten in on the act, with Rutgers beating Virginia, and WVU absolutely manhandling Maryland. Louisville looks to continue the trend, as they are favored at home this weekend against the U, even without their star tailback. Georgia Tech played big against Notre Dame, but couldn't get it done. Wake Forest is 2-0, barely knocking off powerhouses Syracuse and Duke. Honestly, if Virginia Tech has half a team, they should coast into the conference title game. Look at their schedule: Don't forget, Florida State was the BCS rep last year even after losing 4 of their last 6 regular season games (beating only Duke and Maryland.) They played big against VT in the conference final before falling to Penn State in the Orange Bowl.
  3. The agents are crooked as hell, no doubt about it. The players at big-time college programs certainly know better...They are constantly warned/schooled/lectured about this stuff. My problem is with the families of these athletes. Why would Bush's parents accept cash and a free house from an agent/agents? The house they were living in was okay for 18 years, but when Reggie is only two years away from being a megastar multi-millionaire, they feel the need to take cash and move into a free mansion? Not smart. We'll see what shakes out...The NCAA has had an ongoing investigation. For some reason, the investigative journalism of yahoo.com seems skeptical... I know some of these athletes come from nothing and have lived in poverty their whole lives. When you are 19 years old, $100k for your family could look pretty good. But the Bush's seemed relatively middle class. Why put your son and his school at risk for an amount of money that he will be able to wipe his ass with in a few short years?
  4. I'd like to think that my burning question this Sunday will be "Who is this hot chick laying next to me, and why are her panties on my head?" I also hope that the question is the only thing that's burning...
  5. I did see those jugs. They were so disgusting that I couldn't look away.
  6. Either that or Charlie Weis took them when he left town.
  7. I think we can clearly pinpoint last year's poor showing on Milloy and Vincent. No way Whitner and Simpson let it happen this time!!!
  8. I voted no, but I'm not a big jersey guy in any sport. I'll rock a tshirt or something though.
  9. I was in Rochester last weekend and went to the Dinosaur BBQ. I had never been there, and frankly, I was pretty sick and tired of everyone telling me "You HAVE to go," and "It's the best ever..." It was downright annoying. But, I went, and goddam that was some good food. I HIGHLY recommend. I had the Big House special and I absolutely crushed it.
  10. Jauron's never won anything here! Fire that bum!
  11. It's not this guy is it?
  12. Is TKO still in the wrong if he voiced his disagreement with Jauron and the staff and the team first, before conducting this interview? I'm sure every single person in the organization knows where Spikes is coming from, and probably a good number agree with him. He spoke his mind and it's over. No Buffalo Bills coach, player, staff member, or fan has one ounce of worry about TKO's effort and ability once the pads are on. Look at the way Vincent is handling this. Within the team, it's a non-issue. It should be here, also.
  13. With Vincent, that's exactly what they did. He has played his last game for the Bills. I really don't think too many people (outside of this board) are worried about this. Spikes will bust his ass whenever he's on the field. It has to be frustrating for a dude that's as intense as he is to watch veterans get shipped off while the team gets younger and continues to struggle. Especially when he looks at the success his old team has had since he left. I have no problem with TKO, and I'm sure Jauron understands where he's coming from. The Bills are not suddenly in transition mode because Troy Vincent isn't playing. We knew this was going to be a rebuilding year. In TKO's defense of Vincent, he said: "I don't want to take anything away from the [young] players we have in this locker room. I think we have some helluva good players on this team. But you can't replace experience." Exactly TKO, experience is important. Which is why the Bills are better served letting Whitner and Simpson learn on the job, and gaining valuable experience along the way.
  14. I always thought you got the star of the girls soccer team to be the kicker. And she goes to homecoming with the big tough O-Lineman, who really turns out to be a softie at heart (and a fantastic dancer!) This screenplay is practically writing itself!
  15. That's more or less what I was saying with regard to Baltimore. I see them as a team that has above-average players (and a fantastic secondary), but I don't see them at the Cincinnatti or Pittsburgh level. That division plays the NFC South, which is a tough draw. Week 1 was a good win- any win on the road is a good win. We shall see if they can keep it up. I could be completely wrong about the Ravens, but I lump them in with Miami, NYG, and Carolina as teams that the media has fawned over and expects big things from. I say overrated (and I thought the same thing before all of those teams lost in week 1.)
  16. I long for the good ole days when teachers just used to have sex with their students.
  17. Is the training video for this type of interrogation the scene at the beginning of Uncle Buck when Macaulay Caulkin is firing questions at John Candy? Miles: Where do you live? Buck: In the city. Miles: You have a house? Buck: Apartment. Miles: Own or rent? Buck: Rent. Miles: What do you do for a living? Buck: Lots of things. Miles: Where's your office? Buck: I don't have one. Miles: How come? Buck: I don't need one. Miles: Where's your wife? Buck: Don't have one. Miles: How come? Buck: It's a long story. Miles: You have kids? Buck: No I don't. Miles: How come? Buck: It's an even longer story. Miles: Are you my Dad's brother? Buck: What's your record for consecutive questions asked? Miles: 38. Buck: I'm your Dad's brother alright. Miles: You have much more hair in your nose than my Dad. Buck: How nice of you to notice. Miles: I'm a kid - that's my job.
  18. Being shot at by some psychopath in a trench coat was 'probably one of the most frightening moments' in this guy's life??? What could possibly be more frightening than that? Maybe this young canuck is ranking this horrifying experience up there with the time Fox Sports created the glow puck and the slapshot vapor trail for their hockey broadcasts.
  19. I can't wait until they track the sale of the weapon back to New York City and blame the Americans for their sudden rise in violence.
  20. Perfect! [Jauron in raspy Lou Brown voice]"Goddammit Price, I've had it with this ole bullschit!" [/voice]
  21. It was so clear that he had the first down that even after a long commercial break on the change of possession, the Bills staff upstairs dissecting the replay decided it was not even worth a challenge??? Hmmmm.... Even our own coaching staff has joined the anti-Bills conspiracy!
  22. Sorry...I'm just not convinced about his ability (or maybe it's his desire) to get open. I would LOVE for him to show me a little 2002 Peerless this Sunday. But it has been four years since he was an impact receiver.
  23. That should be a matchup worth watching, since Peerless is a second tier WR.
  24. Can't TKO just trot out there for the first play, demolish Culpepper and force a fumble, which the Bills pick up for a TD? Then he can take the rest of the game off again. Hell, we could do that for all 16 games. Takeo Spikes 2006 Stat line: Games- 16 Plays- 16 Sacks- 16 Forced Fumbles- 16 First AFC Defensive Player of the year to appear in less than 3% of his team's defensive plays.
