Colts at Patriots this Sunday night

We don't have to talk to your nutsack for the tiebreaker, do we? -
What's your theory- basically take the three games that are projected to be blowouts, tease the line down 10pts, and take the favorite? Not bad. You said it works for you so stick with it. Isn't sometimes hard not to go the other way? Like if the Bears were favored by 14 on the road, does something ever pull at you to take the home team +24?

I really can't get angry about this stuff. I'm certainly not going to judge a person for a costume he/she wears on Halloween. I dressed up as Roy Horn from Seigfried & Roy several years ago. It was about a month after the tiger attack. I had a super-gay silver jumpsuit, a super-gay sparkly gold vest, gelled up my hair, and attached a stuffed white tiger to my jumpsuit collar, with a little play blood thrown in for effect. It was pretty darn good, if I do say so myself. Everyone loved it, except for one girl who called me the most classless person she's ever seen. In the end, it's the one day where you can dress up and do whatever you want, even if (or especially if) it's in poor taste. The kid dressing up in the Hitler costume is a tool if he writes anti-Semetic magazines and goes to white power meetings. He's not a tool because he wore a costume. I dressed as Roy, and have nothing against ambiguously gay stage performers!

Thursday night in NYC is by far the best party night, IMO. -
Yeah, I've seen one break because it was used in cold weather. It didn't shatter or bend, it just had a chip on the surface and made a real 'dud' sound afterwards. The bat had no pop left at all and was totally useless after that. Also, for the record, a lot of softball leagues limit the types of bats you are allowed to use, with the hope of avoiding incidents where pitchers are seriously injured. Still, I can never see myself pitching. That schit is brutal.
-
Balls coming off the bat at 100mph vs. 80mph? There's a huge difference when you're the pitcher 30 feet away trying to get your glove in front of your face. Why aluminum bats perform better than wooden bats Reasons why aluminum bats are better, and more dangerous: 1. Aluminum bats can be swung faster 2. Aluminum bats have a "trampoline" effect which can transfer more energy to the ball, drastically increasing exit speed. 3. Aluminum bats have wider sweet spots 4. Aluminum bats don't break

The Colts try to complete the ultimate double by winning on the road at Denver, and then travelling to Foxboro a week later and winning another. A Patriots win would put them at 7-1, tied for the conference lead, and probably give them an inside track to homefield advantage throughout the AFC playoffs. I think the media love affair with this '06 New England team is a little premature. They were dominant on Monday night, but that was against the same Vikings team who lost to the lowly Bills just a few short weeks ago. I don't see beating the Vikings as the reason to believe the Pats are the truth. However, a win vs. Indy would solidify their position as the team to beat in the AFC. We all know Manning's history vs. the Pats. He has been an unstoppable QB until he runs into Belichick and the New England defense, and he suddenly looks like a happy-footed rookie. But that performance in Denver, against possibly the best defense in the NFL, was nothing short of incredible. He was automatic and in complete control of the game. Was there ever any doubt when the Colts got the ball with 1:50 left that they were going to get into FG position? It should be a burner, but something tells me New England wins, and covers the three-point spread. The Colts gave up 227 rushing yards (180 in the 2nd half alone!) and still managed to win against Denver. I have a feeling, after basically abandoning the rushing attack on Monday night, that the Patriots come out and run Dillon left and Maroney right, chewing up clock and keeping Manning on the sideline as they thrash the Colts weak run defense. Brady makes the plays he needs to, and Manning throws a costly 4th quarter pick. Perhaps the refs help the Pats out once or twice, too hehehe. But that's for another thread... 30-24 New England

It certainly is. Seeing all the titty and booty prancing around downtown was quite the spectacle. But after a couple of hours, cleavage just wasn't getting in done anymore. The executive decsion was made that full nudity, frosty Canadian beers, Nine Inch Nails blasting from the speakers, lap dances, and maybe even some girl-on-girl action were required. Yep, just another Tuesday night in Southern Ontario.... -

I also got bombed last night. You almost have to do it. The most hilarious part is after hanging out downtown for a few hours and checking out some scandalous outfits, we took imagination out of the equation and made the trip across the bridge to Pure Platinum. There was glitter all over my pillow when I woke up this morning! -
That's the bottom line. And there are plenty of newspapers and TV shows where Bush will get too much credit for that. But there are also plenty of newspapers and TV shows where Bush's contributions will be overlooked or discounted. The toughest part, a la Cadillac last season, will be staying healthy. I think everyone had a question mark on Bush, like Cadillac, about durability because both are a bit undersized, and were not full-time RB's in college. Not to mention, returning punts in the NFL is a grusome business. The Saints have some very good pieces in place, but Bush brings an added dimension, and I think the Saints would struggle somewhat without him. It will be interesting to see how they use him now that he is comfortable with the offense and the NFL speed, and now that the coaching staff has a grasp on what he brings to the table. The last two games have seen a lot of formations with both Deuce and Bush on the field. With a LOT of trust in Brees, it should be fun to see how creative they can get in the second half.

I've been meaning to ask you folks this..

The chance to play countless rounds of golf with my grandfather before he died, and the things I learned from him about golf, business, life, and so much more, I would consider to be my finest asset. That rash I contracted in Cancun in 1999 was not an asset. -
He was at least in the conversation when picking the greatest game changer to ever come out of college, in any era. His college team had one of the greatest three-year runs in history during his three years there. But the fans and media aren't supposed to get excited about his coming to the next level? Bush is a very electrifying player and has a chance to have a very successful career. I think that's where the hype comes from. Seven games into his career, he's a likely Rookie of the Year candidate, even while splitting carries. He has 42 receptions. He returned a 4th quarter punt 65 yards to win a game. Running for the tough yards, which even ESPN (gasp!) told us would be difficult, has been difficult. What's the problem with the guy?
-
I saw the calls. The two VERY bad ones were the fumble OB that was ruled incomplete, and a weak offensive pass interference called on the Vikings. Other than that, it was the same b.s. you see in every single game, every single week. So, should we just record the score as 21-13 Patriots, instead of 31-7? Calls or no calls, New England outclassed Minnesota last night. That couldn't have been anymore clear.

The Saints have allowed the fewest sacks in the league this year, 8 in 7 games, after allowing 41 last season. The QB change was important of course, but Bush is also a major reason for that. There are very few players in the NFL who command the attention of the defense like he does. The Saints "mirror" all of Bush's plays so that he can line up on either side of the field, depending on the defense. If Brees perceives pressure coming from the right, and Bush is lined up left, Brees will send him in motion to the strong side, forcing the defense to call off or alter their blitz and coverage. Not to mention, when Brees does feel pressure, Bush's hands are as reliable as any back around. Bush is 21 years old. He is 6th in the NFL with 42 receptions as a backup RB, and is used as a designed decoy most of the time. He has already returned one game winning punt, and his career is 7 games old. I'm not sure what people were expecting from the kid. Of course this isn't the NCAA, and he's not going to average the 8.7 yards per carry that he averaged last year. I'm not saying he's the second coming, but seven games into his career, I think he's done alright for himself. I know Houston wishes they had him.

Rams +11.5? Against Martyball? Had to make the Chargers earn it. Unfortunately they did.

I remember as a young hornball going to see the movie "Fear," I really wanted to give Reese the business. Not as much now, but I can still picture the scene where Marky Mark fingerblasts her on the roller coaster. Yes!!!

What about two-teamers, does he do 6? I've never asked my guy about the three team. I hate losing that half-point.
-
I hammered on the Pats last night, got them at -2. The only thing that made me nervous was why it wasn't -5 or -6. I thought there was something I wasn't seeing. My only thought was, "the Bills beat the Vikings. They can't be that good." I also took a lite play on the Under 40.5, and I would like to extend a special thank you to both teams, who decided it wasn't necessary to score for the last 10 minutes. Cha-ching! How you doing on your teasers bills fan? I don't play them often but I think I'm 2-2 this year. One of them was Bills-Pats in week 1, teased Buff to +16 and teased the over down to 35. With the 19-17 final, I barely made that over! I heard a stat that only ~30% of teasers end up winning- that's why I ask how you're doing. The guy I use only allows 6-point teases, and you if there's a half-point, you lose it (so Bills plus 10.5 becomes Bills +16, not 16.5). Obviously, pushes lose.

There were several times during the World Series where that commercial aired twice in the same break. Between the Tigers playing like schit, Tim McCarver, and "From the East coast, to the West coast, to the Dixie Highway...." I really contemplated suicide on numerous occasions.

Maybe you just notice the calls more because the Patriots are good enough to take advantage of them. The Bills get a call to go their way and then follow that up with Willis into the line for 1 yard and then two straight sacks. Seriously, the Pats are pretty damn good, and I hate them as much as the next guy. How many teams can go into a road game on Monday Night Football with two powerful RB's and worthless WR's, and say "Hey, the Vikes have a pretty good run defense. I think we'll air it out tonight." Brady proceeds to throw for 370yds and 4TD's. Much respect. It's October and the division is wrapped up, and that has very little to do with the refs.

John Kerry is an idiot!
smokinandjokin replied to HereComesTheReignAgain's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Many of the full-time enlisted military signed their papers because it really was the best option for them. It doesn't mean they don't deserve respect, it just means that an MBA from Georgetown is probably not in the cards for them. There probably are quite a few high school dropouts serving in Iraq right now, who chose the military because it was the best option for them to make a living. It's not unreasonable to think that if they could go back and choose between passing Pre-Calc or patrolling the streets of Ramadi, they might attempt to apply themselves a bit more. At the same time, I'm sure there are plenty serving in Iraq who wanted to get their GED and enlist in the military immediately, because that's what they've always wanted to do. I'm not saying Kerry ISN'T an idiot. I'm just trying to read between the lines a little, like you did when you assumed he meant all soldiers are lazy and stupid. I think what he was saying was, military service is an extremely honorable profession, but don't put yourself in a situation where you have no other options. A kid who does well at school and wants to go to Georgetown, but can't afford it, might look at the military and the GI Bill as a way to make that happen. But a kid who drops out of school because he thinks he has all the answers may have to choose between the gas station and Fallujah. Don't put yourself in a spot where you have no options. -
Get a grip people. If the production of a football game really makes you angry, it may be time to evaluate yourself. I thought the halftime race was hilarious. It was 49 bonus seconds that I didn't have to listen to John Mellencamp's Chevy song. Plus, I was really holding out hope that the guy in the Michael Irvin costume would kneel down and pretend to snort the goalline.
