They might even import some Toronto lesbos to your section for that game. -
Sabres-Bruins official thread

I think Buffalo was 7-1 against them last year. I saw two of those in the HSBC, and unfortunately I was at the only loss in Boston... -

Yeah, definitely won't be as many Wendell Clarks as usual. However, I'm sure a lot season tix holders will sell, like you said. If you sell all four of your Leafs games, you could probably pay for your seasons and a round or two of playoff tickets. But, it should be about 70/30 Sabres fans rather than the usual 50/50 or even 55/45 Leafs fans. -
With the Leafs threads floating around, and the obvious excitement over Toronto's visit to the HSBC on Saturday night, I thought we better start a Bruins thread, just to keep the hockey gods happy. Please post here before posting in the Leafs thread, just to prove we're not looking ahead...

West Virginia at Louisville tonight
smokinandjokin replied to smokinandjokin's topic in College Football
I've seen Cincy a few times on TV, they are definitely respectable. I don't think they'll beat WVU, but IBTG81 laughed at me when I told him I thought Rutgers would lose to UC. Time will tell.... -

I think I'm 324 or 325, row 2. Personally, I think the Leaf fans are great. There are plenty who are obnoxious but for the most part, these are by far the most exciting games to go to. A little friendly banter with the boys in the Wendell Clark jerseys is always good for a laugh. I was the celebrity of the section last year- two different Leafs fans bought me a beer after the 1st period, cause I was talking some schit and they were giving it right back. Good times. Favorite memory of the first Leafs-Sabres game at HSBC last year: I'm waiting in line to get a beer before the game, and there are two Leafs fans behind me with their funny accents. The one guy says, "Oh man, I can't believe I threw up at Pearl Street" (a bar near the arena for you outta towners) His buddy says, "No man, you threw up at Merlin's" (a bar on Elmwood) The first guy replies, "Oh yah, I did. But I also threw up at Pearl Street." Me and his friend both started cracking up. -

I usually go with "Garth" when I tell that one. -

Actually, it's usually 6-2. All the Leafs fans tend to leave when it's 5-2 and they miss the empty-netter. -

I'm there. I love that the Leafs are hanging close early on here. It should make their crowd quite boisterous. They must've gotten used to leaving the HSBC unhappy by now, wouldn't you think? -
That would be Quinn's sister. Her and Hawk got hitched in a quick, justice-of-the-peace ceremony in Wisconsin earlier this summer. At least I heard they did.

West Virginia at Louisville tonight
smokinandjokin replied to smokinandjokin's topic in College Football
Isn't it crazy that this is the #3 and #5 teams in the country playing tonight? Can you imagine if it was Florida-LSU or Michigan-Penn St. how crazy people would be for this game? The Big East still has that 'little brother' stigma. I love that there are two undefeated Big East teams dueling for a place in the BCS title game, while the ACC is nowhere to be found on the national scene. -

I say WVU rolls 'em. I've been known to be wrong.

What an uplifting tail that was. Sorry, I couldn't lay off...

If I remember correctly, that also had huge implications on the over/under. The way the game was being played, it seemed to be a sure under. I can't remember the exact situation, or what the line was, but when the refs stepped in, Pats scored, and it was still under by 1 or 2 points. The 2-point freebie either made the game go over, or it became a push. All I remember is the gambling community being up in arms about Wade pulling the team off the field. No doubt you are correct. Obviously we all recall the Pats game, and that Vinny TD was pathetic. But don't tell daquixers that VT was playing for the Jets- he thinks only the Patriots get the calls...

I didn't need to read the review (but I did, nice recap Lori.) I remember the game ass. Ralph's follow-up letter to the league was one of the best things I've ever read. I'm sure however, since you hypothetically replayed the Monday night game and the Vikings won, you also went back and hypothetically replayed the rest of that 1998 season and had the Bills coasting to a Super Bowl title. And I never said the refs are great- in fact, I have reiterated several times to you that they blow calls all the time, in every game. If you prefer to pretend that it only ever happens in games that New England plays, and that they ALWAYS get the upper hand with every call, then so be it. It's not easy to do this, because I truly HATE the Patriots. But if it makes you feel better to believe that New England is 74-26 with three SB's since 2001 because the refs sweat them, so be it. Likewise, we can pretend the Bills are 33-54 since 2001 because the refs hate us. Patriot fans can cry all they want that Champ Bailey's fumble should have been a touchback, not out at the 1 yard line. People seem to forget the fact that Tom Brady THREW AN INT IN THE OTHER END ZONE THAT WAS RETURNED 100+ YARDS!!! The refs didn't cost them the game- Brady's horrible pass cost them the game!!!
-
I'm not saying you're wrong, I just wouldn't touch it. Betting the Bills to go over is always a risky endeavor- the total has been under in 5 of the 7 games this year. FYI- looks to be low 40's with a rain/snow mix in Buffalo Sunday.

Time To Bring Back Drew Bledsoe In 2007!

I thought I smelled something mighty fine in this thread!! -
Yeah, I checked it. Looks solid. And I never dog anyone if their tip doesn't play out! I'm a big boy, I know the risks! I can't imagine the SD line getting thrown by more than a half-point because Merriman is out. They are still that much better.

Daq- In response to your reply in the Colts-Pats thread, because I don't want that to dissolve into the same mess as this thread: You're right, the Vikings-Pats game wasn't fair. One team dominated the other. The Patriots benefit from a lot of close calls. So do the Colts. So do all good teams. You know why? Because they're good. Is there something subconscious with the refs, that they are used to seeing Tom Brady throw completions and Marvin Harrison catch passes, that when they don't the refs assume a penalty occurred? I dunno, maybe. But that's what being good earns you. Michael Jordan benefited from a lot of calls also, and very few consider him a fluke or a product of officiating.

Colts at Patriots this Sunday night
smokinandjokin replied to smokinandjokin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Because the Indy-Pitt playoff game proved the refs HATE the Colts... I was surprised the refs didn't put their arms up when Vanderjagt's kick sailed 30 yards to the right!
