Congrats UB for winning 41-14
smokinandjokin replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Not sure how they're doing overall. I believe I read that they only sold 5000 for last Sat's game. -
I brought a friend from NYC downtown to 'Thursday in the Square' in Buffalo. I'm not sure there was one black person there. He pointed it out, I didn't really notice. But once he said something, I looked around and was like, "Holy schit you're right." Maybe R.E.M. was playing or something, I don't remember. I'll have to pay attention at the next Bills home game, because I honestly don't notice. Off the top of my head it does seem predominantly white. However, no more so than the Bills game in Tampa last year. At the risk of making vast generalizations, it does often seem that 90% of the ticket scalpers are black. I would say the "Tickets for Sale" guy standing next to the "I Need Tickets" guy on 20A (near the 219) are my favorites.

Age of TBD Poster who is for or against JP
smokinandjokin replied to diver's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
27- Longtime JP supporter but I am done making excuses for him. The line is what it is. The receivers are what they are. The RB is what he is. The coaching and playcalling is what it is. Enough is enough, there comes a time when plays have to be made. This is not a playoff team, but JP has the skills to make things happen- he just hasn't been. That said, any option other than Losman signifies total disaster. Holcomb we know about. Nobody wants that. Nall played for Green Bay. It was said the Packers thought highly of him. Then they drafted Aaron Rodgers. Then they let Nall walk before they even knew if Favre was returning for this season or not. How highly did they REALLY think of Nall??? He is not the long-term answer, IMO. Drafting another QB and it's another three years before expectations can be raised. We NEED Losman to succeed. It never really occurred to me that he wouldn't, I always thought he would be pretty damn good. I am wondering now.... -
I believe a scenario occurred earlier in this thread where bills fan and Bungee Jumper engaged in a point-counterpoint discussion on facts and events, of both the past and present, and even managed to work in a few non-judgemental opinions about what this means for the future, ALL while civilly discussing and occasionally debating said events. Please close this thread or move it out of PPP immediately, unless bills fan or Jumper want to chime in and call the other one a !@#$ tard. Then it can stay.

No. They will play DIII powerhouse Rowan in the Waste Management New Jersey Bowl. The morning line has Rowan favored by 3.

Drunk girls let down their guard and are easier to coerse back to your place. You can also talk drunk girls into doing some scandalous schit that they would never otherwise do. That is all the knowledge I have gathered in my 27 years- I hope that helps.

Jauron wouldn't go so far as to say he's out this week, he said they'll post their first injury update on Wed and proceed from there. I have cracked a rib before, and it was a bad scene. I couldn't sneeze, tie a shoe, or open the fridge without pain. I can't imagine taking shots from LB's. I have to assume he'll be out. As for your fantasy team, you probably should've dropped him weeks ago.

I don't have any ACC teams up there, do I have an ACC bias? Why do you get in a tizzy over my rankings? Post what you think, that's what this thread is for. In my opinion (key word)- Louisville would get crushed by Texas and Florida, and they would lose to Notre Dame. They would probably lose to a bunch of the other schools in the top-15. I had WVU at 3, and Louisville at 11 last week. Louisville won, I moved them to 6, and WVU down to 14, because I wasn't overly impressed with either squad. Teams that allow 8 yards per play like Louisville and WVU are playing a different game from the rest of the country. You can get by when you're outscoring lesser competition, but against the big dogs, it tends to get ugly. If they played again at a neutral site, I think WVU wins. But I also think 2-loss LSU would manhandle both of them.

NE throttling Indy so far.

I won't make fun of you for saying intentional touching instead of illegal contact. Both do have an 'underage sex offender' connotation to them. However, illegal contact is called when contact occurs before the ball is in the air. The NE corner definitely first made contact beyond five yards BEFORE Manning let go of the ball. And that was a schitty pass regardless. It was retarded to go for it, and it was retarded by a ref BEHIND the LOS to jump in and say 1st down. Watching it live, I thought there was no way Brady got it. But oh well, he threw a deep pick right after that which is just like a punt, which they should've done in the first place. So call it a wash. Because I hate the Patriots. I don't hate Manning, but I also don't want his milky white goodness on my chin like you do. I will never, ever say those players aren't/weren't good. Thurman is probably my favorite player of all-time. And a Super Bowl doesn't put Trent Dilfer in Marino's or Kelly's class. I would say Manning is already in their class. But he has consistently been a favorite at every level to win a championship, and he has consistently failed to perform on the biggest stage. There is one thing to get there and play great but lose in the end. Manning has continuously played his worst game of his season when his team has needed him the most. If you think that doesn't make him less of a player, so be it. Like I said, I love Thurmal, but there's no denying that his great career has a some black marks from his performances in those last three SB's. -

Yes! I was hoping I could show up and read some more hypothetical scores this week from daquixers. How come the score could've been worse if Vinatieri didn't uncharacteristically miss FG's, but Brady uncharacteristically throwing four picks had no impact on your hypothetical score? If those picks were instead actually TD passes, New England would have killed them. We hear it all year, every year about Manning. This is the year. And when he would meltdown in the playoffs, it was because he was on the road, or it was cold...Always an excuse. And then he had homefield locked up last year, and they lost in the dome because Manning threw a HUGE interception late in the game. Even a gift fumble and return at the end and he couldn't get it done. The guy is great, but win a game that matters. Even his college team won a national title the year after he left. Tee Martin? -
1. Ohio State- It's November, just win. Doesn't matter how. 2. Michigan- See above. 3. Florida- See above. 4. Notre Dame- Offense in synch. UNC never really threatened. 5. Texas- Solid all-around performance against a decent OK State team. 6. Louisville- I was sure WVU would win that game. UL would get mangled by the 1-5 teams above, IMO. 7. California- Never trailed against a decent UCLA team, and were up 35-10 with 10 mins left before 2 garbage-time TD's 8. Arkansas- On the road at night on national TV, the Hogs were impressive against South Carolina. 23-6 at half. 9. Wisconsin- One loss to UM. I'm not sure if you guys bet NCAA, but keep an eye on Wisconsin. They cover just about every week and I've made a killing on them. 10. USC- A 42-0 win at winless Stanford doesn not mean they're back. However, the offense may have found their identity in the last five minutes of the Oregon St game. Booty looked legit for the first time at the end of their loss, and it carried over to Stanford. Now the fun begins: OU, Cal, ND, at UCLA Outside looking in (11-15): LSU, Auburn, Boise State, WVU, Rutgers

Ohio State, Michigan, Florida, LSU, Cal, Auburn, ND, Texas (among others) would all beat Rutgers by two touchdowns, at least. Evidence #1 that Rutgers sucks: Their dillusional fans are bragging about a win over Navy like it signifies their arrival at the big time. Can't wait to hear the excuses when they lose to Cincinnati... -
Buffalo Sabres vs. Toronto Maple Leafs

Couldn't I just tell him that the Bills won two AFL Championships in '64 and '65, and the Dolphins won zero, so clearly the Dolphins don't have a leg to stand on? -
Buffalo Sabres vs. Toronto Maple Leafs
smokinandjokin replied to smokinandjokin's topic in Off the Wall Archives
You're right. History shows the Leafs have 11 cups, the Sabres 0. Factoid justified. There's also no rational point a Leafs fan can use to deny the fact that the Leafs are the Sabres' little brother. Whipping boy. B word. Whatever you want to call it. A Leafs fan can't rationally say that their team has even been RELEVANT in the NHL as a successful franchise for over 40 years. 76-50-18 with a +132 goal differential. Domination. Oh yeah, I forgot we can't use head-to-head results when comparing two teams. "But....but....11 Cups! And the Leafs didn't lose to the Sabres ONE TIME from 1920 to 1969!" -

This is another part of the rivalry that I LOVE! Leafs fans sweat Toronto so hard (it's a fantastic city, btw, I do like it there a lot) and they consider Buffalo to be nothing but a run-down, decrepid, second-class town. And they can't fathom that their fancy, big time team from their great city HAS NO CHANCE of beating that bankrupt, low-class, no-name team from schitty Buffalo. HAHAHAHAHA- Suck on it! -

Nobody's dismissing your Cups. You have the banners to prove you won them, even if the games were played on a frozen pond somewhere. What is the problem with taking the overall record? You claim your Cups validate your team's greatness, but my team wasn't around to stop you from winning them. It seems, since the Sabres have been around, they've absolutely owned the Leafs. And, since the Sabres have been around, they have the exact same amount of Cup banners as the Leafs, and two more conference titles. But you're right, why would you ever look at head-to-head record when comparing two teams? Sit on dad's lap and have him tell you how shiney the Cup looked in 1967, before the big bad Sabres came into the league and starting tossing your sorry-ass team around. -

Because there were boatloads of Atlanta Thrashers fans there the other night? I love that that's all you got. And I love when the Leaf fans invade the HSBC- it makes for a great atmosphere. And a long, sad ride home on the Quewy! -

Chumps! Toronto Maple Leafs- Buffalo's B word since 1970. -
I felt this information was so important, it needed it's own thread: Here's some info that should help all you Leaf fans see the light. This is taken from the '06-'07 Sabres Media Guide, which can be found here. You may need to sign up as an "Insider" which is free. All time records, BUF vs. TOR head-to-head: Buffalo leads the all-time series 76-50-18; BUF 541 goals for, 409 against The teams have met once in the playoffs, with the Sabres dominating the Leafs 4 games to 1 in the 1999 Eastern Conference Finals. In Buffalo (Aud and HSBC), Sabres are 47-20-6 with 299 goals for, 189 against In Toronto (MLG and ACC), Sabres are 29-30-12 with 242 goals for, 220 against Sabres' record vs. the Leafs in HSBC Arena (since it opened in 1996): 15-4-3 So what were you saying about your 11 cups, but nothing since 1967?

I'm still studying...I am extremely comfortable with the American horses but I need to familiarize myself with the Euros a little more. Even though the Euros usually struggle, there are typically one or two diamonds in the rough. Nothing better than Breeders Cup. You get some great prices on some great horses. I'm heading to OTB early this afternoon, I'll post my picks later.

smokinandjokin replied to smokinandjokin's topic in College Football
I think either one could put points up on most teams, Ohio State and Florida included. However, they wouldn't put 35 points on those teams, I'd say more around 24. But neither L'ville's nor WVU's defenses would be able to stop anybody in the top-10. A title game with L'ville in it would end with the Cards on the wrong side of a 45-24 score. -
BAMF- "Bad Ass Mother!@#$er" Dashingly handsome and extremely well-endowed, this individual will usually say !@#$ you and your tests!
