  1. Oh schit I remember that dude from college. He IS a monster. Where did the Chargers draft him at?
  2. Was it Guay? Also, while winning a World Cup ski event is a great accomplishment for a Canadian, if it was that guy I'm asking about, his name is pronounced "Gay." I'm just sayin....
  3. That is true. We were spoiled because when it was 3rd & 8 in the 4th quarter and the Bills were up by 4, Bruce would get a sack. He always seemed to have an impact on the play when it mattered most, even if it was just pressuring a bad throw. If Schobel fancies himself as one of the top DE's in the league, he can't disappear for 56 minutes a game. Rushing the QB hard on every single play and recording your sack per game when you look back at the stats doesn't do it for me. I think Schobel has had two very good games this year: Game 1 against the Pats, and I can't remember the other, but he was all over the place in another one. Other than that, he's been pedestrian in my amateurish opinion. You are right about the DT's not holding up their end of the bargain against the run. But Schobel's speed rush allows the LT to bump him upfield. If the DT is handled by the guard, that leaves a FB to crush the LB and a 15-yard gain for the RB and another tackle for Ko Simpson. It seems to happen way too often this year.
  4. People don't know him because NFL Live doesn't show highlights of 4th quarter sacks on the Bears backup when it's 34-7. He has a shot this week, I believe the Chargers start a rook at LT. Speaking of LT, if previous games prove true, Schobel can wave goodbye to Tomlinson as LT runs right through the gaping hole left by Schobel's upfield speed rush.
  5. Show him the jumpsuit, the junk-to-ass contact, and the cauliflower ear and I'm sure he'll hate it just fine on his own.
  6. Pride in previous accomplishments > Bragging on future hypotheticals All this smack, and it's still likely that you're getting a hard on over the 3rd place team in the Big Least.
  7. I don't miss Grier at all. The locker room seems in good hands, and there is no lack of 'grit' on this team, which is about all Grier brought to the table. He got the most out of his talent, and the hustle was always there, but I'd much rather give a young guy like Paille a chance. Grier's stone hands and missed chances got old. Also, piss on Grier for taking the same $1.3M from San Jose that the Sabres offered him, and then badmouthing the organization on his way out of town. He said he didn't like the direction, and didn't think they'd pay anybody. Well, they clearly made Grier a fair offer, as that's what he's currently making. And they have about $70,000 of Bettman dollars to play with, so they paid just about everyone else. Grier is dead to me. But maybe his comments spurred Darcy and Tommy G into action, so for that we can be thankful. As for the others, good riddance to Taylor Quiet and Rory Fitz. JP and McKee would be nice luxuries to have, but not practical. Both got paid and I'm happy for them. Taylor Quiet was paired up with the Sedin bros in Vancouver and actually started fairly hot, scoring 6 goals in 9 games at one point in Oct. He has 8G 3A on the season and is a -4. He has cooled off recently, November was a bad month for him.
  8. The burn, the burn.....Love it. Similar to the media asking Patrick Roy about Roenick talking smack to him, and Roy saying, "I have a hard time hearing Jeremy with these Stanley Cup rings stuck in my ears."
  9. I heard Pujols was crying because Philly's Howard won the MVP, and Albert thinks a player on a playoff team should win it....Like say, for example, someone like Albert Pujols.
  10. Cincy covers tonight, IMO.
  11. Will you be able to get -12? The line opened at 12 and stayed there for about one minute. It is 13.5 or 14 pretty much across the board now. Keep an eye on the over 48 in that game.
  12. That's what Cherry was saying. The Canucks are taking on all comers, and getting it done.
  13. Corrinne Bailey Rae....Girlfriend always has her stuff on....Seems like a pretty soulful gal. The girlfriend and I had to go to Albany a few weeks ago for a wedding, and we took my car. My girlfriend brought two CBR CD's for the trip, but left them in my car. The next week at work, I had to drive to a meeting, and two fresh-outta-college kids from work came with me. They saw the CD's and I have not heard the end of it since. The ol' "They're my girlfriend's, I swear" is not even worth trying at that point. I do dig the music, though.
  14. I fully expect Brian Fantana on the scene immediately. Stay classy, San Diego.
  15. Why don't you boys leave the recruiting talk out of this, as USC has had the top-rated class the past four years...And I fully expect a re-Pete this year!!! Carroll is actually the rare NCAA coach who directs ALL of the recruiting. Not a lot of college-bred guys do that, much less those who came from the pros. Mix that with the promise to play his best 11, a beautiful school (but check yourself in the surrounding neighborhood) 92,000 packed into the Coliseum, and the L.A. location/lifestyle, and you'd have to be a tard like Paul Hackett to not do well recruiting there.
  16. We know. They should've called it Big Conference USA East.
  17. If you are making choices to only stand at critical/exciting parts of the game, don't worry what others say. If you are one of those "I'm going to show my team how much I love them by standing the whole game," that's pretty annoying. The most annoying guy in the section is the one who is constantly telling everyone to stand up. No thanks buddy, not on 2nd & 4 from the 40 in the middle of the 2nd quarter.
  18. New fathers across the country are buying baby-sized tshirts for their young sons that say "Rutgers Football"
  19. There was a guy named Mr. Aiken who was not my favorite teacher, but his first name was Jim so I always had a pretty good time calling him "Jamaican, mon!"
  20. I believe I saw Rowdy Roddy vs. Ravishing Rick Rude in a cage match at Niagara Falls Convention Center when I was a young buck. Somebody please tell me they were there because I'm not positive it was those two, and if it was, I can't remember who won.
  21. I think it's the injuries on defense. Tallinder and Lydman are the #1 tandem, and would typically play more than half of every penalty kill, but don't play on PP's. In their absence, Spacek and Campbell, who also anchor the power play, have had to go out short handed. Not only are they missing their top D pair, but two of the important 'point guards' on the power play are not as fresh as they're used to being. Combine that with some rooks seeing time (Stafford and Ryan on the PP, and Paetsch and Paille on the PK) and the numbers figure to be down. I expect both percentages will move in the right direction when they are fully healthy. In the meantime, with Tallinder out, Campbell may have become the best player on the team right before our eyes.
  22. Pump Jersey's tires all you want...In football, Texas HS talent > Jersey HS talent
  23. (Two can play the edit game) What did they pay for? Tickets? Airfare, hotel? Everything? Anyways, pretty cool move. I'm surprised the NCAA didn't send in their death squad and find something wrong with boosters paying students way to the game, and force Rutgers to forfeit.
  24. Pumping up a visor-wearing Euro who consistently underachieves in the playoffs? Not the Don Cherry I know!!!
  25. Didn't Rutgers pay for a bunch of students to fly to wherever they played the Preparation H Bowl last year? I thought that was a pretty cool move.
