Witness details puppy's final moments
smokinandjokin replied to Tux of Borg's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Some things really don't need to be posted. This seems like one. -
It's got to be Stan Gable. He was a two-time All-American for the Adams Atoms, and I have a feeling that John Goodman ran a ball-control offense and never really let him open it up. The fact that they set up a make-out booth for a fundraiser earns him first-place votes right there. Losing the javelin toss was unfortunate, but if Wormser would've designed a javelin for Stan, rather than for Lamar's limp wristed throwing style, who knows how far it would've gone?

Maybe getting WAY ahead of myself here

I agree with your points Lv, I'm just wondering where exactly we factor into the discussion. I'm not one of those "hate the media" guys, but the Bills don't seem to be on ANY analysts' radar when it comes to the playoffs. I hear Tennessee mentioned constantly (same record as Buf,) and I heard Sterling Sharpe say that the Jets are playing as well as anyone right now (but failed to mention that the Bills completely slapped them in their house 7 days before.) I agree, based on where we were last year and even at the bye week this year, the team has been a welcome surprise. It's just nice to see them on the screen when they show the Wild Card potentials, even if nobody is talking about them. Another elimination game this week....It would be nice to finish 9-7 and see where the chips fall.... -

This is just rediculous. Anyone who thinks that Miss USA should be out trying to end the civil war in Darfur or promoting literacy at inner-city schools is just plain nuts. She won a contest because she looks incredibly hot in a bikini. And we're upset because this hot Kentucky girl likes to go out in NYC? Come on Donald, stop pretending. I would be more horrified of a Miss USA who didn't drink and like to party. She wouldn't represent MY America!!!

I thought Clements was going to call for a fair catch on that pick, it hung in the air so long....

This definitely deserves it's own thread. The level of excitement I felt in the stadium every time Harrington dropped back to pass was incredible. Each time, it seemed like he made his worst throw of the game. I was thinking, "That was the worst pass I've ever seen," and then two plays later, he'd top it by throwing an even more disgusting pass. And they were four yard routes he was completely misfiring on. He was shockingly horrible. I know he played in the dome in Detroit, but didn't he play plenty of games in Lambeau? Didn't he play in some windy rain games at Oregon? That was pathetic. He looked like the Ralph was the last place he wanted to be. When Cleo Lemon comes in and Miami fans say, "Hey, he doesn't look too bad," that's when you know there's a problem.

Thank you thank you. I knew there was no way the Bills would let me down today. A 7-7 record and two wins over Miami....That's a successful season any way you chalk it up! It was a rough weekend, I need to go to bed and hopefully pull myself together by 8am tomorrow! Thanks all-

What Do The Sabres Need To Win it All?
smokinandjokin replied to jimmy_from_north_buffalo's topic in Off the Wall Archives
You really shouldn't put this: or this: next to the guy who's trying to return from a concussion!!!! Tiimmmmmaaaay is biking and swimming, which is a step in the right direction. He wasn't doing any exercising as of a few weeks ago. He's even cleared to skate if he wants- anything to get his heart rate up. The trouble is, he's still experiencing headaches and other symptoms of post-concussion syndrome, and there is no timetable for return on the horizon. It would be such a huge lift to get him back a few weeks before the playoffs. Bye bye power play problems. A healthy Connolly this year might also help sort out the Drury/Briere re-signings this offseason. If the team knows Connolly is back, it might be easier to let one of those guys walk. Unfortunately, if he does return, he will always be one hit away.... I'd say there's a 7% chance he puts on the uniform this year. -
Why is the game not sold out..

You left out the part about how Philly sucks ass. -
Nice, sweet trip, should be a blast. Nah man, unfortunately I will not be making the trek to Pasadena. But it works out pretty well...One of my friends from school is getting married in Tampa on New Years Eve. Normally that may sound like a horrible idea, but actually, I kinda like it. You're always looking for something to do on NYE, and at least a wedding combines a lot of friends with an open bar. Plus, I'll get to watch the Rose the next day with a big crew from college, so that works out. Enjoy the games, safe travels to all who will be heading out to support their squad...

The National Title game SHOULD be...
smokinandjokin replied to Cornerville's topic in College Football
We can continue to give both sides of every argument for every potential team, and it's already been done in this forum and elsewhere thousands of times. What point exactly are you trying to make here? Is Michigan deserving? Sure. Even though they already lost to OSU. Is Florida deserving? Sure. I would say winning the SEC is more difficult than winning any other conference. Is Boise State deserving? Sure. Even though 15 other teams would've gone undefeated playing their schedule, they didn't lose. Can't fault 'em. Louisville? Sure. One loss on the road on the last play of the game. The point is, with the exception of weak-scheduled Boise State, not one of those teams took care of their own business, thus leaving everything open for interpretation. We could go back and forth on this for hours. A playoff seems logical. But perhaps the debate and conversation about the BCS teams is exactly what the NCAA wants. Look at us, we're talking about it. -

Official 2007 Orange B'ball Thread
smokinandjokin replied to BuffOrange's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Cuse's offense was a mess. Their sets looked so unorganized and out of synch, and the spacing was horrible. I was flipping back and forth between hoops and the Sabres game, but you're right, the parts I saw looked ugly. Harris' teammate from Niagara Falls HS, Johnny Flynn, is BY FAR the best player in the WNY area and is rated as one of the top prep PG's in the country. He can play ball. He's committed to the Orange for next year. -
I would say that is easily the case. Many coaches readily admit that they do not watch any other games on Saturdays other than their own. And even more readily admit that they don't have the time or the interest to vote in the poll, and pass the duty off to one of their underlings. The fact that the Coaches Poll comprises 1/3 of the formula for arranging championship games and bowl matchups, and yet they are so blase about the task, is comically alarming. It's shocking how the NCAA can get basketball so right, and yet they can't get out of their own way when it comes to football.

With the extensive undercover work it took to obtain Hochuli's email address (google.com), and after reading EH's response, I have a feeling this was not the first "You are the worst ref and I'm going to burn your house down" email he's ever received. -
Not sure I agree, sven. True, the Dolphins game was always one of the first to sell out. But if it doesn't, that means the rivalry is dead? If 72,000 people attend, the rivalry is alive and well, but if 'only' 65,000 attend, the rivalry is dead? I firmly believe the Bills fans have been sold a boatload of hope for the past 5 years, and we bought into it hook, line, and sinker. Out of that hope came nothing but disappointment, followed by offseason moves that generated even more hope, and once again drove ticket sales, only to be let down yet again. I think people are fed up of paying for a ticket and feeling disappointed, not only with the product on the field, but also the game experience as a whole. Losing makes unruly fans all the more obnoxious and harder to take. When we're winning, the drunks are festive. When we're losing, they're just...well, drunks. Couple that with a successful team in the Sabres, who actually perform and are so easy to get behind, and people seem to find other outlets for their expendable income. Namely, the HSBC Arena box office. You know as well as I do that if the Bills were the real deal, these games would be sold out easily. The Patriots may have taken over the "most hated" by some fans, but like you, there's still something about Miami that burns me up. There were plenty of down years for the Skins-Cowboys or Eagles-Giants as well. The many years it takes to build a rivalry (see: 1970-79 for the Bills and 1988-96 for Miami) ensures that the rivalries will continue on, even through the down cycles.

Looks like now I can get blind drunk at the Sabres-Sens game Sat night. I was planning on taking it easy in preparation of the early start on Sunday....I'm sorry liver....

I was going to post the same thing when I saw the paper this morning. Crazy. I love the UM-USC classic Rose Bowl. Also, I should quit my job and go work in Vegas as a bookmaker. In Bart's "Road to Glendale" thread, I had my morning line for OSU-UF at 8.5:

The National Title game SHOULD be...
smokinandjokin replied to Cornerville's topic in College Football
Michigan did earn their title shot by winning their first 11 games. They got that title shot in their 12th game, and they lost. It was close, a 3-point defeat, and while UM played admirably in a hostile environment, OSU proved they are the class of the conference. Michigan's stout defense gave up 42 points in the one game that they needed to be at their best. The SEC has been touted as the nation's toughest conference. Florida, by winning the nation's toughest conference, (and like Michigan, suffered just one loss in a hostile environment on the road,) has earned their crack at Ohio State. Michigan may very well be better than Florida. But who knows? My thinking, again flawed as it may be, is that a national champion should be able to win their conference. There is no way to remove the subjectivity. Is the 2nd-best team in the Big Ten better than the best team in the SEC? Who's to say? It's impossible to compare. Without a playoff, I'm much more comfortable giving a conference champion a shot rather than letting a team who couldn't win their conference and couldn't stop their opponent's offense a crack at a rematch. -

That schit is never NOT hilarious. How could those clowns be serious? "Hey guys, I was thinking about not spiking up my hair. I dunno, I just want to try something else." Commence ass kicking and expulsion from the group. "And we're keeping the pink button down shirt we gave you at your initiation!"
