  1. Rosenhaus' clients have a history of getting to camp on time and not holding out. He's doing what a good agent should do. Regardless of what you think of Willis, you can't argue that he's been productive.
  2. I was talking about this with my old man as we were watching the game on Christmas...Romo snags the blonde hottie singer, JP gets gets some plumper with blue cheese stains on her 1988 AFC East Champions sweatshirt.
  3. BYU 38 Oregon 8 Hawaii 47 Arizona St. 24 Florida St. 44 UCLA 27 Way to turn up the defense, fellahs. Cal, ranked #20, goes tonight as a 4-point favorite against #21 Texas A&M to try to earn a piece of respect for the conference. Then it's #24 Oregon St. tomorrow vs. Missouri, and of course USC and UM in the Rose. Not a very good showing so far...
  4. Yes correct, he was sentenced to prison but never served due to the appeals process. He was, however, banned from fighting for three years when he was 25 years old, and had a record of 29-0. The Thrilla was incredible, two worthy champs hammering on each other. No doubt about Ali's current mental health...In fact, I would say the three Frazier-Ali fights are the reason that the sport no longer goes 15 rounds, and now max out at 12. The damage done in those last three rounds can be seen today in the diminished state of fighters from that era. NOTE- The 2nd of the 3 Frazier-Ali fights was only 12 rounds, in MSG, but it was just as brutal as the other two.
  5. No doubt, the Titans' defender was all over Reed, making contact and not allowing him to fight his way back to the wind-blown pass. At the same time, there definitely should've been pass interference called on Reed at the end of the first half when he caught the bomb from Losman that allowed the Bills to get the free 3 points with 0:01 left. The Titans' defender went up to attempt to knock the pass down, and then went flying about 4 yards forward after Reed shoved him in the back. So, anything goes on the deep ball, I guess....
  6. I'm not sure about this entire quote. Reyes will be back next year? Are you nuts? I agree, Preston did not impress, but there's a reason Reyes was benched. He was the worst lineman on a horrible line. The line (and the team) were 10 times better when Reyes was taken out of the lineup and the players re-shuffled. As for Fowler, what do you mean by "we'll have to live with him?" He was a stablizing force in the middle, extremely mobile and intelligent, and behind Peters he was the 2nd-best lineman on the team. He can be criticized as slightly undersized and suceptable to an occasional bull rush, but so is every center. I thought, overall, Fowler was a very nice pickup and I'd be happy if he anchors this line at C with Peters at LT for another 4-5 years. Ellison played admirably this year but you're nuts if you're counting on him being a force as a starting backer. Crowell is a much better all-around player.
  7. Youboty is the one guy in my mind who needs to see extensive playing time on Sunday. Not just in the nickel either. Get him out there in man coverage against a vet QB who knows how to pick on a rookie, and let's see what he's got. Other than that, I want to see JP play coming off a tough loss against a top defense. Pats, Chargers, Bears, Colts...0-4 against 1st place teams...It would be nice to beat a top team to end the season...
  8. Ali spent three years in the thick of his prime in prison. He was not the same fighter when he got out...Three years older and a bit sluggish. Pre-jail, Ali was the complete package of size, strength, speed, and charisma that no heavyweight champion has ever possessed. Some were as strong, some were as fast...but nobody had the combination of talents that Ali had. I don't think it's fair to say that Ali's antics outside the ring diminish his performances inside the ring. All of that stuff combined IS his performance. People go to fights and watch fights on TV to be entertained, and Ali was the best in that regard. Anyone who questions Ali's heart, desire, toughness, or ability and says that he was all showmanship needs to sit down and watch every second of the Thrilla in Manila. There's no way a guy who was all hype would outlast powerful Joe Frazier for 14 rounds in 100-degree heat in the Philippines. Look at Ali on his stool in between the 14th and 15th rounds, when Frazier throws in the towel. Ali was totally exhausted and nearly defeated. And he was going to go out there for one more round. Ready and willing to go? Probably not. But he was going to. More style than substance? No way. Style would've quit in the 7th round the way Frazier was hitting him.
  9. I didn't forget March 2005. Witherspoon managed the end of the Ohio game in the MAC Championship as poorly as a coach possibly could. UB had the last shot and had Battle dribbling up top, and Witherspoon calls timeout with ~5 seconds remaining....Tard move #1. Call t.o. with 11 secs left and give your team a chance to run a play with multiple options, plus a rebound opportunity. Then the play he draws up? Senior Turner Battle, who hit big game-winning shots all year? Nope. A rushed set (because of the little time left) culminating with a tentative 18-foot jumper from a big man. No time for a rebound. Nice Reggie. I agree, the America East is weak. But two years ago, #14 seeded A-East champ Vermont knocked off #3 seed Syracuse. And last year, Albany came dangerously close to becoming the first #16 to knock off a #1, as they led UConn by as many as 10 in the second half. The MAC is decent, but let's not get carried away.
  10. He hasn't played enough to grasp a pattern, but it seems like he wears the plain white one when they wear the white uni's.
  11. It's a physical game. Players are going to get injured. It has more to do with luck than anything. The Sabres could've won the Cup last year if not for injuries that happened on clean hits to Connolly, Tallinder, and Kalinin. They were all in intensive care due to hits that didn't even require a 2 minute penalty. What's your point? Scoring two PP goals every time a team takes a cheapie sends a much better message than Peters popping some other team's schlep. Lost in all this garbage is the fact that the Sabres completely outplayed a legit Stanley Cup contender last night.
  12. This is an excellent point, and something that Lindy was probably thinking while we were calling for blood.
  13. I heard today on the radio that there is a rule about gooning it up with under 5 minutes to go in the game that involves huge suspensions and fines. Therefore, if Peters played 3 minutes over the game's first 58, and then Ruff sent him out with 2 minutes left to get in a fight and start a rumble, Peters would've been subjected to big-time fines and suspensions. Who cares, right? It's only Peters. However, the heaviest suspensions and fines are levied on the coach who sends him out there. Up 5-2 with 4 minutes left, Ruff was in no position to play a retaliation game against an out-of-conference team, which could've cost him 10+ games away from the bench. The unfortunate thing about the unbalanced schedule is that out-of-conference teams can take these liberties, because payback won't come until minimally the next season. When Darcy Tucker lays a cheapie, there are five or six opportunities that season to make the guy feel it in return.
  14. Not sure. I know what you're saying, we don't want Danny Briere breaking a hand while trying to goon it up. Maybe Marty and Paetsch were the only ones who truly saw the punch, so that's why they were the ones reacting. The beauty of the Ovechkin hit was that Gaustad had three punches to the face before Alex knew what was going on. I fully understand DB, JP, and JH are not Gaustad. I just would've liked to have seen the same urgency in defense of a teammate. Even if they didn't realize what happened, when you turn around and see your goalie throwing the blocker around, you know it must've been serious. Upon watching the replay, Hecht in particular definitely saw what happened and had the opportunity to step in. He instead chose to let his goalie do the business while he grabbed somebody's sleeve.
  15. I hit a HUGE trifecta at the dog track in Bonita Springs about a year ago. Zero strategy in my betting, just ended up with three longshots in my tri who ran in the right order. I thought the place was going to have to board up and lock the doors after paying me out. Thanks everyone for the input. It seems like a pretty good gig and has the opportunity for exponential growth. I was down there a few months ago when bidding on a few jobs, and the building is unreal. Coming from Buffalo, where you notice IMMEDIATELY when you see a crane doing some heavy lifting, it was quite a difference. There is land being cleared and building going on all over the place. The plus side is, Florida's west coast has the luxury of learning from the over-development mistakes that have been made in certain areas on the state's east coast.
  16. I hear Jaro is okay and probably won't miss any time (barring headaches, whiplash, etc.) So that's good. With the NHL's history of under-suspending, I don't look for much to be done to Nichol. Unfortunately, the league office tends to look at the results rather than the intent. Seeing as Jaro skated off on his own, and probably won't miss a game, I fully expect a wrist slap from the league in the area of 5-10 games. If Jaro was carted off on a stretcher and was out for a month (which easily could've happened because of that sucker punch) the league would be much more harsh. That's just the backwards way they do things. Props to Biron and Paetsch for trying to get at Nichol. I know Briere, P'ville, and Hecht are not necessarily bruisers, but it would've been nice to see them attempting to do more, rather than pairing off and holding a guy's sweater, a la Miro Satan.
  17. Way to beat detoxsmurf to the punch on this one!
  18. I think Jochen is a pretty important cog, even if you don't notice him that much. Especially last year, the team really struggled when he was out of the lineup. I don't think he's a liability at all...Rather, I think he does a lot of the dirty work, especially on the defensive end, that allows Briere to be Briere. I'm not a huge fan of Hecht on the power play.
  19. Today's show was brought to you by the number 6. As in, 'Chad Pennington's longest pass of the year traveled 6 yards in the air.'
  20. Hahahaha...Last time I was down there I went out to a 'supposedly' decent bar at about 11pm on a Saturday night. My girlfriend said, "I feel like we're on a cruise." I just started cracking up...Bluehairs everywhere....
  21. I currently work for an engineering/project management firm started by my grandfather. There is a huge opportunity to capitalize on the continuing building boom on the west coast of Florida, where several lucrative contracts have been bid on and won. A move to the Naples, Florida area early in 2007 looks highly likely, where I would manage a satellite office there. I have been to the Ft. Myers/Naples/Marco Island area a couple of times, but only for a few days each time. Does anyone have any info on this area that they could provide? Anything relevant is appreciated. Quality of life/schools/nightlife/beaches/neighborhoods/etc. I would welcome all opinions and shared experiences. Thanks! (The immediate con I can think of is not being in WNY when the Sabres raise the Cup this spring/summer...)
  22. Your girlfriend should dump you for being a moron.
  23. For years, these women have been placed on a pedestal for their beauty, incredible bodies, and genuine American sexuality. A major portion of their evaluation takes place while they are wearing about $1.65 worth of fabric in the bikini contest. And then people are in an uproar when these girls go out to clubs and act sexual? (Not you guys, I'm talking about the uproar in general public and the media.) I fully understand that obtaining the title of Miss Any-State requires a certain degree of responsibility and decorum, because now that person is no longer just Jill kissing a hot chick at a bar; she's Miss Nevada kissing a hot chick at a bar. However, are we REALLY taking these Miss Whatever pageants seriously? Aren't there thousands of women (who don't look as good in a bikini) who would be better served to be Miss New York, if the intention was truly to help one or more worthy causes? These girls don't wear the sash because they have the most potential for increasing literacy levels in inner-city schools. They are wearing the sash because of their hot ass. If they want to flash their thong, or a little titty, that's their perogative as a hot young female.
  24. Funny story about the un-aggressive ticket sales office: A guy at work had three season tix (him and two buddies) for many years. They weren't sure what they were going to do before this year. The Bills ticket office was calling regularly, inquiring as to if they were going to renew. Finally, this guy at work calls up and says, "I'd like to renew my season tickets, but I'm only going to purchase two this year, instead of three." The Bills ticket rep says, "OK. Why only two, if you don't mind my asking? What happened to the third guy?" "Oh, well, he's not too optimistic about the season," my friend said. The Bills rep replied, "Yeah, I can see that." And no, I wouldn't buy another ticket. My ass only uses one seat, so my ass only pays for one seat.
