Has anyone been to the Mailbu Sands Beach Club?
smokinandjokin replied to taterhill's topic in Off the Wall Archives
It's an incredible place. If you can get there around the 4th of July, you might be asked to be a judge in the Miss Liberty Beauty Pageant. And I got bombed there at the end-of-summer luau and made out with some girl. Chicks are easy at luaus. -

Huh? 1. Biron is not necessarily a backup. He can be a starter in the league, and he makes starter money. 2. He is going to leave after this season regardless. 3. The playoffs are not a time for luxuries. Biron on the bench is a luxury. He has filled in well for Miller when he's been called on. But in the playoffs, if all goes as planned, he will play exactly ZERO minutes. Why do you want an expensive player sitting on the bench, when you could have one or two other players skating in the lineup and contributing every game? 4. Connolly's apparent comeback will push the Sabres closer to busting the salary cap. A $2.2M backup goalie seems like a logical player to move to clear some space. 5. A backfire could certainly occur if Miller gets injured and the new backup is shaky in the playoffs. But I don't think you can plan like that. It's like saying Darcy should have had 3 or 4 defensmen waiting in the press box to cover the injuries last year, even though he had 6 healthy d-men heading in, and his 7th played over 50 games during the season. There are some things you just can't plan for. Injuries may happen, they may not. 6. I like Biron too. I would feel good if he was here to win the Cup with his longtime teammates in Buffalo. The respect he has earned from the fans and the organization while professionally accepting his backup role has far exceeded the opinions of him when he was the starter. However, he's our most tradeable commodity, and if the team can get better by acquiring player(s) who will actually play, I think the Sabres have to pull the trigger. 7. According to the rumors, Tampa is the most interested in Biron at the moment. As it stands, they are tied for 6th place in the conference, just one point out of 8th place. Can you see a Sabres & Miller vs. Lightning & Marty opening round playoff series? Wow!

I will reward shotty service if she's hot, and especially if she brushes her tit against the back of my arm when she clears the table.

Playing NFC East Next Season
smokinandjokin replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree. But I would also counter that every team in the NFC East is thinking the same thing about our division. -
I agree with you, and hadn't heard much until this morning, they were discussing on WGR...Of course the talk of Kotalik, Kalinin, and Biron, and they talked briefly of Pominville also- Not necessarily that the Sabres were interested in moving him, just that other teams were interested in acquiring him.

Biron is their most likely candidate to get shipped, and makes the most sense. If all goes according to plan, Marty wouldn't see one minute of action in the playoffs. He's a nice luxury to have, but when it gets down to it, they will need contributors in the playoffs, not spectators. Kotalik, Pominville, and Kalinin are leading the way in whispers as far as expendable skaters. I haven't heard many hypotheticals as far as who the Sabres would bring in in a trade. Bill Guerin's name has popped up a few times. If they traded Biron, they'd certainly need to receive a goalie coming back. I'm sure they'd like some additional depth at defense, but I can't see them grabbing someone at the deadline who would crack their top-7 barring injuries...Then you're back to the contributor vs. spectator argument. Gaustad hurts...Darcy mentioned how valuable guys like him are in the playoffs, and that the answer would be "No" if a team wanted the Goose from the Sabres, so he's skeptical that he'll be able to pick up a comparable player from someone else.

Playing NFC East Next Season
smokinandjokin replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It doesn't get much easier than the NFC North, who we went 2-2 against this year. I think everyone had the Lions chalked up as a win, and the Bears chalked up as a loss, with the other two being 50/50. I'd much prefer another crack at GB, Minnesota, Detroit, and Grossman, rather than the NFC East. -
Bills vs. Redskins (next year)

Exactly my point R. Rich..... These guys can get hurt anywhere. Complaining about a beautiful clean hit makes no sense to me...Taylor diving in late to block a punt and ripping up Moorman's knee would be a completely different story.... Moorman could've gotten down, or out of bounds, or actually punted the ball instead of running with it. I remember Tasker timing a punt perfectly in the Pro Bowl and absolutely creaming the return man...That guy was 20x more defenseless than Moorman...This board would be loving that hit today..... -
That's some good insight into their selected band name... Why didn't they write: THE EAGLES - English for "Las Aguilas"

Playing NFC East Next Season

Cowboys: Playoffs Giants: Playoffs Eagles: Playoffs Dolphins: New coach and unsettled QB play Jets: Incredible ride to the playoffs, but struggled against top teams. Nobody is scared of them. Patriots: Another year older, and always one Tom Brady injury away from disaster. They will be tough again. Bills: Orchard Park is not a great roadtrip, but if you can catch them in your stadium, you've got to like your chances. I'm not sure the NFC East is shaking... -
Bills vs. Redskins (next year)
smokinandjokin replied to SuperBills12's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks. I've now reconsidered everything, since you've told me that there's an 'unwritten agreement.' Is there an unwritten agreement about not taking advantage of the relaxed attitudes by running fake punts? I don't watch the game because it's worthless. But people are crying about that hit, and nobody mentions the guy diving at Drew Brees' knee??? Taylor could've hit Moorman a lot harder than he did. Moorman is a good enough athlete, he could've realized the sideline was blocked, and scampered out of bounds. Had he broken his femur, I would be blaming him and not Shawn Taylor. -

I'm surprised you caught the reference, seeing as it was in a film from the Leftist bastion that is Hollywood. Those jokes about Harris and his relationship with Jesus only furthered the movie studio's clear liberal agenda, right Rk? You are entitled to your views, I respect them as much my own or anyone else's. I don't pretend to have all of the answers and am always fairly open-minded. I don't post in PPP that often because, frankly, a lot of the 'issues' that are brought up, I don't consider to be issues at all (like the Dixie Chicks or macaca or crap like that.) I like when people link to articles that I wouldn't find elsewhere on my own, and that's usually how I spend my time here. Immediately dividing every single issue into left vs. right in post #3 of the thread (like you seem to do) forces a division into sides, promotes arguing and name calling, and limits open-mindedness and true discussion. Every thread turns into a blame game where your side is wrong and my side is correct, and it's my observation that you have a lot to do with steering the threads that way. -
Bills vs. Redskins (next year)

Why play then? Just go to the beach in Oahu and play flag football. I mean seriously, maybe blame the team running the FAKE PUNT in the Pro Bowl. Don't blame the guy who tackles him. -

God forbid a hard-hitting safety makes a completely clean hit on a guy going for a 1st down. It's football, it was a great hit, get over it... -
Big Mike was a big-time receiver in college...However, there were knocks on him about laziness, attitude, etc. He was supremely talented and was able to dominate college corners because of his size, even if he wasn't always 100% tuned in. Sitting out a year didn't help his laziness, and going to a disastrous situation like Detroit doesn't help anybody excel to be their best. Jarrett, on the other hand, had to fight through some issues. He didn't come in and dominate as a freshman. He was severely homesick and thought about transferrng back to the East coast. Williams' 1 year suspension forced Jarrett into a situation where he had to step up and be the guy, and he didn't run from it. I'm not saying he doesn't have a 'tude, I think most WR's probably do. I was just wondering where the other poster got his info from. I have never heard anything about Jarrett as a teammate that wasn't positive, while I did hear some grumblings about Mike Williams. I think Mike resented Palmer/Leinart/Bush getting all the pub, while Jarrett has basked in being the #1 wideout, even if he was not as well-known nationally as some of his teammates. His ability to put up numbers this year with a 1st-year QB and freshman tailback and opposing defenses knowing he was "the guy" speaks to his abilities. Jarrett has some question marks, like a lack of premium speed, but I've never heard the "selfish" stuff before. That's why I responded... Free agency will clear up the clouds a little bit, but at the moment, I'm with you...WR would be a strange pick, considering the other needs...

Hopefully, we can run our second straight 1200-yard back out of town. WE HAVE THE BEST FANS IN THE LEAGUE!!! We don't sell out four games, we take Willis' "If the NFL plays a game in Toronto, it should be the Buffalo Bills" quote to Penthouse (!!!) magazine as proof that Willis wants the team to move. Hey, the Leafs sell out even when they're bad...Maybe Toronto would be a better option...
