    I don't like those "rules of thumb."

     

    A person should look at their current expenditures and determine what they can spend on their own. Don't rely on a bank to tell you. That's partially how we got into this mess to begin with!

     

    For my wife and I, we pay nowhere near 28%. We bought our place 6 years ago making sure that, with proper budgeting, we'd be able to afford the house on just my salary in case we have kids at some point. We're both still working, and that gave us the ability to put my wife through Carlson to get her MBA without taking a loan, as well as doing things that we want (vacations and such). It also means that if one of us gets laid off, we won't be struggling -- just have to cut back on some of the extra "fun" stuff we buy.

     

    Good plan Fezmid. Mrs. Lew and I did that too. I am just glad our house is paid for.

    The 15 year mortgage ended in May of 2002,,,,,then in July of 2002 my eldest dau started college.

    So I traded one payment for another...

    I was at that concert also...Great concert.. IMHO

     

    Favorite Bills moment was when the Bills put Jim Kelly's name on the Wall.

    Then Ralph said something like "Wait Jim, there is something else"

    I told the guy next to me, " Watch, they are going to retire his number"

     

    and sure enough the Bills did....The guy next to me asked "How did you kow

    that?"....Very Lucky Guess....

    and then that big number 12 banner unfurled from the pressbox

    side of the Stadium...

    Mrs. Lew and I saw this movie on Friday. It is a good flick. Alan Arkin is great, IMHO...

    OUr dog , Kibbles, looks just like Marley, but is not the rambunctious one..

    Kibbles is also 13.5 years old and is showing her age and that part of the movie touched me.

     

    KGun,,ya forgot to add that Jennifer Anniston gets nekkid.............

    LAMP, I was on TV News on Friday

    Last Friday I was on the local TV News. The Red Cross is trying to boost blood donations and they had a ceremony

    to honor those who had donated 100+ units. (I'm at 117) The three local news crews were present and one of the news guys made a donation. It was filmed and showed how easy blood donating is. The local congressman, Nick Joe Rahall (D)

    gave a speech and passed out the awards. I was filmed shaking his hand , but the camera guy missed me going

    to the bathroom to wash my hands after the handshake. IMHO, I think he's a crook, but that's another discussion.

    Another donor was an old guy from my nieghborhood. I'd shudder to think who gets his blood 'cause he's

    a crotchey old fart.

    That's my story and if you can donate blood, please do so.

    How did UB

    Tackling by UB defenders was terrible.

    The QB and HB of KSU did make some very elusive moves and

    they had a good offensive scheme against

    <like someone else said, a very average defense>

     

    Man, it was COLD at UB Stadium yesterday.

    Other than the cold it was a great experience at

    the game.

    The UB Stadium is a nice one and I encourage

    anyone to go to a game there next season.
