Nathan Peterman to Start this Week.
smuvtalker replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I never, ever thought I'd feel this way.....but I am purely elated. I feel like McDermott really does care about this team and is not the stubborn bullhead I was starting to think he was becoming!! I could be 100% completely wrong, but I'll say this. I believe Sean McDermott JUST saved Buffalo's season by making this move. Be back guys, stripping naked and about to run outside screaming at the top of my lungs. If I'm not back on this msg board in a few hours, please write me at: Atlanta County Jail. TODAY IS AN AWESOME DAY TO BE A BILLS FAN!!!!!! -

Did the defense quit on Coach Thursday?
smuvtalker replied to Foreigner's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't believe you go from a total team buy-in one week, to the team quitting on Coach McDermott all of a sudden, and for no apparent reason. Nothing happened, at least that we know of, for the team to jump ship like that. I think it was just a crap-tacular all-around team performance. Nothing more. -

Why does this happen after EVERY loss?
smuvtalker replied to njbuff's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am as consistent with my fandom as a true, life long diehard Bills fan can be. When I was 7 years old, when I first fell in love with the Bills, I watched them struggle through 7 and 8 win seasons with Joe Ferguson, Joe Cribbs, and Jerry Butler on offense with big Freddy Smerlas on the D line. So my fandom is without question. However, yesterday's performance deserved a visit from the boo-birds. While it was just one loss from a scheduling perspective, it was a loss that the Bills just shouldn't have let happen. It puts us in an all too familiar position, BEHIND the 8 ball....again. They couldn't have picked a worse night to play their worst 60 minutes of football all year. If Buffalo was finally to be taken seriously, if they were truly to become part of the conversation of playoff teams, then last night was supposed to be a W, not a whopper of an L. I share your hope that the Bills bounce back from this stinker of a performance and take it to the Saints, but this a Saints team who's offense is starting to run on all 8 cylinders, and Drew Brees will be the best quarterback this team has faced all year (unless you think Matt Ryan is better). But even more importantly, the Saints DEFENSE, which has been consistently terrible for years, is starting to improve as well... McD better right this ship in a hurry, and have our boys ready to play 60 minutes of quality football next Sunday or it could be over by halftime. Because of how well Buffalo has played at home, I fully expect them to show up and play hard. Whether they win or not I guess time will tell. -
Playoffs? Playoffs?? The Playoff Chances Thread
smuvtalker replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed 100%. If I'm not mistaken, had we won last night, our playoff chances would have jumped to 80%? Jesus. 80% to 43%. One loss. Yesterday's loss hurt. Hurt so bad in so many ways. I'm praying we bounce back but our task at hand just got tremendously more difficult. -
I agree with you, that in the two losses to the Panthers and Bengals, the Bills were in it til the very end, and very well could've come away with W's. While I was pleased with the five victories, one thing that discouraged me was that we were having +3, +4 takeaways but still barely winning. But since we were winning I didn't complain. But while last night's loss was only one loss, it's just the way that it went down. Again, this is a scenario that we Bills fans have been faced with SO many times during this 17 year drought that you'd have to have JUST recently become a fan of the team, or lived under a rock and been oblivious to the team's struggles. Last night was by far the biggest game of the season to date for this team. Throw out the fact it was a division game. Throw out the fact it was a conference game. It was the biggest game of the season because, like many previous years, the Bills were overachieving, had a rookie or new head coach, had put together a winning record, and to me personally, were finally starting to get the attention AND respect of the national media. McDermott was being discussed as a potential coach of the year candidate, players were buying into his "Trust the Process" mantra, and with a win last night, our playoff chances would've shot up to 80%. And like too many seasons before, when the Bills had a chance to show everyone that they were for real, and that everyone's belief in them being different from Bills teams of the past was merited, what do they do? They come out flat, uninspired, undisciplined, and play the worst 60 minutes of football they have all year. And once again have everyone saying, "Same Old Bills ". And you are correct, it was just one game. 5-3 is not a bad record, and I do believe McDermott has this team playing decent football, and am by no means throwing in the towel on this season. But yesterday's loss just fell into all too familiar territory, and has me not wanting to see any highlights on TV, and not wanting to hear any commentary or analysts opinions. I'm hoping McD can right the ship, and the Bills can bounce back and take care of a surging, red hot Saints team next Sunday at New Era....but Drew Brees will be the best quarterback this team has faced all season, and last night they made McCown look like an all-pro. I wish I could say I'm still optimistic about the rest of the season, but the playoffs seem SO much further out of reach today than they did yesterday.
-
Our 4 home games are vs the Saints, Pats, Colts and Dolphins. I would love to share your optimism but after watching last night's debacle, I'm not ready to declare all 4 of those home games victories. Honestly speaking, the ONLY one right now I would chalk up as a guaranteed W is the Colts. The Saints offense is starting to run on all 4 cylinders, the Pats are the Pats, and we can only hope the Dolphins without Ajayi will pose less of a threat than last year. I'm sorry but last night's loss has me feelin pretty down about the rest of the season. It never seems to fail with this team, McDermott now included. The Bills play well, string together some impressive victories, win some games they shouldn't, and people start buying in. National media even starts giving the Bills props, [insert coach name here] starts getting chatter for early Coach of the Year, then comes the talk of "hey these Bills are different". Up comes the ONE primetime game on their schedule, where the Bills have the chance to show the world they are for real, and what do they do? Come out and sh*t the bed, in the absolute worst way, leaving everyone saying the three words I hate hearing, but have no argument against, "same old Bills". This loss hurts.

Let's do this!! I know we can....we just have to do what we've been doing, act like we've been here before, not listen to any other hype, and as my Uncle Reggie says... Let's line em up and lay the wood to em!!
-
Crap. Anxiety is really starting to kick in now....i want us to win this game in the worst way...there is a HUUUUUGE difference between 6-2 and 5-3. And in so many years past, when the Bills have put together a winning streak or a decent record like they have now, national media starts to give them praise, they get favored in a game, and come out and lay the proverbial egg. Stink up the joint. And while a loss wouldn't signal the end of the world, I just don't want to hear everyone saying those dreaded three words..."same old Bills". Dammit I want this win so bad tonight I can taste it!! I said I was going to wait til about 7 to start takin em back...screw it...ITS TIME!! LET'S GO BUFFALO!!!! PROVE TO THE EFFING WORLD WE ARE FOR REAL THIS YEAR!!!!

Happy birthday buddy!! Many more...

Tell me which move is made by the "good" GM

Lolol I remember that. That announcer was absolutely smitten by her, and had no qualms making sure EVERYONE knew. The way she was looking in the stands it's almost as if she could hear him talking about her, and she was just a taaaad bit creeped out.... Good stuff! -

I just don't know if I'd get rid of Holmes. I feel like he and Tyrod are finally starting to develop some chemistry. Amazing how the Benjamin signing took us from a seriously weak position to now having a surplus of talent and needing to dispose of someone.... -

Jimmy Graham potentially on trade block
smuvtalker replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sweet Jesus my mouth just watered reading that. Clay and Graham? Together??? That would be one of the most delicious TE combos in the league, immediately. But I suspect McDermott wouldn't want him here, plus he'd come at a pretty hefty price. Also, I can't be certain, but I'm thinking Brees made Graham better....he hasn't been anywhere near his playing level from NO. -
So you're tellin me there's a chance.....yess!!!! I read ya...

I don't know if I'd go that far to think that if we win Sunday we make the playoffs. There's too much football to be played, and maybe it's just the battered wife syndrome the Bills have given me. As encouraged as I am, I still need to see a whole lot more before I even allow myself to think about us in the playoffs. It's so sad, even if we got to 9-2, I would still probably not assume we would make the playoffs.
-
I think it's a big game, absolutely. This game means alot with regard to playoff positioning. As of right now I'd say at the end of the regular season I expect the Raiders to be one of the teams in contention for a WC, so a victory over them would give us the tiebreaker...and you're right in that a loss, and sitting at 4-3 just throws the Bills into a state of uncertainty and with far less wiggle room for the remainder of the season. I expect the crowd to be pumped, and for the Bills to be just as pumped for what will be a huge game. But more importantly, getting a W Sunday puts the Bills at 5-2, and I'm imagining a victory will do WONDERS for the team's confidence heading into the Jets game. If the Bills win Sunday I fully expect them to go to NY the next week and beat the Jets.
