  1. I'm guessing I have a somewhat cynical sense of humor. I chuckled when I read his comment. Couldn't help but follow his remark with my own thoughts of: "the jews and the gays and the whites and the spades".....
  2. I want Rosen baaaad. (Mayfield 2nd), and I'm having a hard time even thinking about what we'd do if we don't get that #2 pick from the Giants..... But the more and more i look at it, 2 1sts, 2 2nds, and 2 3rds is some UNQUESTIONABLE ability to seriously improve your team, overnight. Honestly, this is a pretty good dilemma to have ourselves in. (now watch, now that I've been able to settle down and accept this way of thinking, McBeane will make the trade to #2 tonight or tomorrow lol)
  3. I want us to get that number 2 pick from the Giants so bad, I can taste it. I'm with you in that i agree, with Brady soon retiring, the time to grab our franchise guy is this draft, and I covet Rosen. Darnold not so much, but I would be okay with him. Mayfield, yes please. But man, 4 first rounders? I just can't pull that trigger....and I'm probably one of the most QB desperate posters on here! I'm ready to part with 12, 22, 53, 65, and next years 1st, and MAYBE next years 3rd or 4th. Question: has any team given up 4 first rounders to move up 10 spots in the draft? or just given up 4 first rounders period?
  4. Great point about the comparison to the QB and the point guard. Many similarities and I am completely in awe of some of the plays point guards make. i could sit and watch Magic Johnson's highlight reels for hours and not see the same play twice. iMO he is the greatest PG of all time, hands down. And he was 6'9! To me he is one of the players that I don't think there will ever be another comparable. if i had to give my list of 'the ones', by position, meaning they have no equal, i would say PG-Magic, SG-Jordan, SF-Dr J PF-Barkley, C-Chamberlain. i would love for race to not be such a hot button issue when discussing players, and i think that the reason it is is because we have just become so sensitive of a society now, people can't speak their minds anymore without offending someone. Like Gugny said, hell if a black QB sucked, he sucked, and if a white sucks, he sucks.
  5. Holy crap thank you for saying what I was attempting to say last night in WAY less words lol. it completely pissed me off when Tyrod pulled out the race card. i tihnk the biggest reason it pissed me off is because it was, like you said, 100% unnecessary, and in my opinion none of the criticisms levied against him were far-fetched, overexaggerated or grossly inaccurate. And it surprised the heck out of me because football talent aside, Tyrod to me is genuinely a good guy. Humble, hard worker, good attitude, the type of personality you want on your team. So when he said that, I was just like WOW.
  6. I think you bring up some excellent points in this post, to which I can say, i agree with pretty much all of them. The issue i see made most clearly, and most often from you is that there might be more great black football players if there was better funding in the inner city, rural, and less-privileged areas to create more legitimate, nicer, better-coached, and more attractive football programs. However, don't think that is the point that the OP was trying to make in his post. i took from his "post", that he feels that the only real reason there is a lack of black quarterbacks in the NFL is because the black athlete who is better physically equipped to play QB would simply rather play basketball. Simple as that, am I correct OP? If so, I don't necessarily disagree with that sentiment, because I'm quite certain there ARE plenty of black kids who are physically built with a prototypical NFL size, (6'5, 240) who would much rather play basketball than football. It could be for a number of reasons...perhaps like you mentioned, they grew up loving basketball more than other sports they learned, including football. Maybe they never even tried playing football at all, or just didn't like it. You also mentioned that there is no magical quality that black men don't have that enables them to excel at the QB position. You are right. if you take a handful of the greatest QBs of all-time, Manning, Brady, Favre, Brees, Montana, and dissect them from top to bottom, you'll find nothing in them that they have that no black quarterback has. We're all created exactly the same. in my opinion, what separates these quarterbacks from the rest, is their intellect. Please don't mistake this as me saying that black quarterbacks are not smart enough to play the position, as that is not my viewpoint at all. But the QB position is by far the most cerebral position in football, and to be successful, the most vital mental attributes you must have are: 1)the ability to read defenses, pre and post snap. you MUST be able to process what you are seeing from the defense, know what they plan on bringing at you in the next 15 seconds, make necessary audibles, and have all 10 other guys where they're supposed to be. There's a reason the delay of game penalty is always called on the quarterback, no matter who wasn't ready. 2)the ability to QUICKLY go through your progressions once the ball is snapped, anticipating the pass rush, feeling it, knowing how to step up in the pocket, or slide AWAY from the direction of the oncoming rusher, ALL THE WHILE still keeping your eyes upfield, finding the open receiver(and that doesn't mean sitting all alone at a spot on the field, or streaking down the sideline with a two-step separation from the DB. open meaning seeing where the receiver IS, "anticipating' where he's going to be, and throwing the ball to a spot that allows him to continue running his route and gain separation from the DB, and making a catch that also enables him to continue running without having to break his stride, jump, change his body direction thus ending the catch there. Being able to throw a receiver open is an invaluable asset for a QB have to begin to be considered "great' or "elite". Those two traits alone are among the most difficult to possess, and while they can certainly be learned, feel like many of the great ones were blessed with these gifts early on, and were able to easily develop them to where they were just a part of their brain. It is a combination of mental-makeup, quick problem solving skills, plus quick-twitch muscle firing ability that allows them to do this, and make the kind of throws that drop jaws with relative ease. It is not something exclusive to white quarterbacks by any means. Warren Moon was an absolute surgeon with the football, and I remember watching him slice, dice, filet, torch, and destroy a Buffalo Bills secondary to the tune of 35 points in just over 2 quarters. To this day I don't know if I've seen a more accurate display of passing in such a short amount of time from anyone else. (Thank God almighty that it was in His plan for us to win that day, because WM was hotter than the sun) With that said, I think that with the QB position requiring a much greater cerebal capacity, the mental demands that come with playing the position could make it a much less attractive option than maybe in years past, that perhaps that in itself could be a reason that a black athlete otherwise physically equipped to play might just say, no thanks. I'd rather play basketball. A sport that requires less thought can easily be more attractive to every race of athlete. And hell, it's not just black QBs that come out of college that aren't successful. Most QBs that come out of college aren't successful. But with regard to race, what I really am getting sick of is as soon as someone makes a comment that they don't like Lamar Jackson, or they didn't like Tyrod, they are considered racist. Why can't they just not like them because they think they suck? Or not like the fact that Tyrod held the ball too long? Or that he refused to throw to receivers that weren't open enough to smoke a cigarette? Or that in his final game, his audition tape for the rest of the NFL, a playoff game nonetheless, he did all of the things that made people go bonkers? Refusing to throw the ball, never taking chances, even with the game almost over, down by one score. Why can't they not like Lamar because his main knocks are accuracy issues, inability to read defenses, and happy feet? While I don't doubt for a second that there are probably more people on this site that don't like Taylor or Jackson because of the color of their skin than i'd care to ever know, I do feel like it's getting to a point where people are afraid to say anything negative about a black QB for fear of being called a racist. Somethin's gotta give soon people. .
  7. I would pass out and die if this draft actually happened for us. But regardless thanks for taking the time to post the draft....thorough if anything!
  8. Thank you! ANY other year but this one.....
  9. Outstanding write-up and analysis Gunner, thank you for your hard work. Thoroughly enjoyed reading it! Fingers crossed we end up with Rosen or Mayfield!
  10. This makes me happy to hear if we do indeed pull the trigger. Not a big fan of waiting until draft night to do it, but hey as long as it gets done. I suck at reading between the lines, probably why I didn't have a clue, lol.
  11. I would be THRILLED if it's Mayfield that we moved up to 2 to secure. Him OR Rosen and I can exhale a sigh of relief, turn the tv off, and not even watch the rest of the draft. I'm sure McBeane will handle things properly....I will need the emotional recovery time anyway :-)
  12. I don't think whoever gets drafted at 2 will be available at picks 4-8, even a non QB like Barkley or Chubb, but that's JMO. However, question two is very valid. I do believe they already had a conversation with the Giants about the number two pick, I'm just not sure they would tell them exactly what player it is they covet though, as I feel like doing that is giving away too much information, even if insider knowledge says we 99.9% are leaning towards this guy. But I DO hope that if we intend on moving to 2, waiting until draft night is not a good idea. Any pick after that I suppose waiting would be the best bet. The uncertainty and the anticipation are literally going to kill me. As much as I am looking forward to our biggest draft night EVER, the anxiety and stress over it make me want this sh!t to be over already....
  13. I don't have the answer, but it's a very good question you bring up. They must have QB at 1, 2, and 3 on their board and they don't mind settling for the last option of the 3. To me there's SUCH a huge difference between 2 and 3, particularly this year, I guess they tried to get to 2 but the Giants wouldn't do business with their roommate? That's the only thing can think of. I
  14. I agree. I know I'm impatient as they come, but I just feel like if we are indeed going to number 2 and its for one guy they have in particular, GIVE THE DAMN PICKS and get in the number 2 spot. I feel like the longer we wait, the lesser chance we'll have of getting our guy.
  15. at this point, I'm so uneasy sitting in the #12 spot that I could be okay with that under the right circumstances, especially if we don't have to give up the farm, the house behind the farm, and our first unborn son.....
  16. I do too. His production certainly hasn't matched his salary, and I'm thinking McDermott's patience is probably already worn a bit thin. I would LOVE to see Goedert in a Bills uni. If what I'm hoping happens and we make the moves to move up in the draft to get our QB, my guess is he would fall into the area where we'd either JUST miss out on getting him, or have to spend too early of a pick to take him.....lol the sunken place. But I'm really trying to prepare myself for us staying put at 12, not getting one of the big 4, and keeping all of our picks. In that event, getting an infusion of young offensive talent this year wouldn't be a bad thing to me. Goedert and Penny both, with Chark or St. Brown thrown in would be a VERY nice combination to quiet my sobbing from not getting Mayfield or Rosen...
  17. I have definitely had to grow some thicker skin being a member of TBD lol, and i honestly think it is a good thing. Having joined in 2005, I really only starting contributing the last 3 or 4 years. This board is full of some extremely intelligent, well-informed, and some SUPER-opinionated members. I respect everyone's opinion and viewpoints, and enjoy having discussions and dialogue where our views differ, and welcome constructive criticism. However, I have a real problem with the posters that are super opinionated, and if you don't share their same opinion, they can get downright nasty. It has never happened to me, but I've seen plenty of posters get absolutely LAMBASTED on here for stating their opinions. I can see why so many members can be hesitant to share their views on here. But to me it's helped me to grow as a person and a commenter. And again props to you for starting this topic. I will ALWAYS be eternally grateful to Mr. Wilson for giving us the Buffalo Bills. I have been a loyal fan since I was six years old, when I could actively remember back then that our QB was Joe Ferguson, our RB was Joe Cribbs, one of our WRs was Jerry Butler. I couldnt imagine ever loving and being so passionate about another team, and my love for the Bills and my love for the city of Buffalo are inseparable, a true package deal. And again it all starts with the great Mr. Wilson. Funny thing is that my wife is from New Orleans, and I was a big Brees fan when he was at Purdue, so it was easy to adopt the Saints as my 2nd favorite team, especially with them being in the NFC. I follow the Saints closely, and the year they went to the Super Bowl, we rooted them on down in the big easy, and I second-lined down on Canal St with thousands of others, and when they won we cheered and hooted and hollered. But deep down, in my gut, all could really feel was jealousy. Because i wanted to have that feeling for my Bills. And I don't think that for a second that Ralph couldn't have done things different, from a financial perspective, that might have brought a Lombardi trophy to Buffalo. So that is why I agree with you, that Ralph WAS complicated. And, this may or may not get an apple shoved in my mouth and a gigantic skewer shoved up my a$$ and placed in a pit and roasted, but I think it is LAZY and ignorant to think that just because Ralph Wilson founded the Buffalo Bills that he is above any criticism whatsoever, and anyone who does is a scumbag POS who should be burned at the stake. JMO....
  18. A very well-writted topic in regard to the article, and with supporting facts as well. I appreciate you having the guts to post it as well, as many people consider it blasphemy to say anything negative about Mr. Wilson. I think you posted as objectively an opinion as could be allowed, and while I did not have an educated opinion as to whether or not Wilson was in fact cheap, particularly when it came to front office, I do now. Regardless of my opinion, I can still say I am more informed now than before I read this topic. Thank you!
  19. I can tell you right now he's not making it past the 4th, and that's only if insiders and NFL execs have some information about some undisclosed injury, or off-field issue not made public.. if he goes past the 4th, he ain't gettin drafted. He can absolutely catch the ball, and what makes him so appealing is that you've got a 6'5 receiver who has got some NICE wheels on him! And what impressed me the most about watching him is that to be tall and fast, he has some deceptive quickness about him as well. he's not just a big tall receiver who has straight line speed. Let me correct myself from my earlier statement, I wouldn't call him BIG. He's tall and slender, and could definitely add a few pounds of muscle, but that will come naturally in the pros I'm assuming. Kelvin Benjamin is BIG. (maybe even a tad too big lol)
  20. I can't remember, day one is JUST the first round right? and then day two is rounds 2-3 yes?
  21. Same here. He's huge, AND with the vertical speed to stretch the field...had he had ANY semblance of consistent, even average QB play his numbers IMO would've been better. Premture I know to label him, but I see comparisons to megatron. Concur with you this kid is 1st round talent....
  22. I LOVE this kid. I was mentioning it in another thread that would be happy to see the Bills spend as high as the late 2nd or first 3rd on this kid. After Chark this is the WR highest on my wish list. After watching quite a few of his games, i completely agree with ndirish in that he's gonna be a better pro than he was a college receiver.
