  1. Dang AP....not good man, not good. I too wonder what the hell must've happened to make him hit her in a public setting, in plain view of other people, on an AIRPLANE no less where they stop the plane and head back to the gate for significantly less??
  2. You mentioned that you don't think our run defense is a huge liability "now". Does that mean you considered it to be one earlier at some point this year and don't any longer? If so, what changes did we make that makes you feel better about it? As you mentioned, we stand the very real possibility of losing Hughes and Addison, our two best pass rushers. Obada, who I thought really turned it on towards the end of the season, is an UFA, and may have opened enough eyes to warrant testing the FA waters and signing with someone else. I too am praying Phillips re-signs with us, and Star, while I wouldn't mind seeing back, is a question mark to me because I'm not sure if his heart is still in it. I feel like a player like Davis has the potential to not only be that space-eating, run-stopping force we'd be hoping we get, but could also elevate the play of everyone around him(particularly him freeing up Oliver from double-teams, keeping Edmunds and Milano clean and free to do their jobs). I know this is all speculation, but I just feel like our run defense is more of a problem than we perceive it to be. Just my honest opinion.
  3. Well said. If you take just two games last year, the two where we were absolutely destroyed by a RB, the Titans and the Colts games, those two games to me were a true indictment of our inability to stop the run, PARTICULARLY when it mattered most. Going into the Titans game, we had won four in a row, had just whipped the Chiefs in Arrowhead, and had all the momentum in the world. The Titans relied on Henry exclusively, and the world knew it. Tannehill wasn't scaring anyone, and we knew going in if they were going to beat us it was going to be on the legs of Derrick Henry. What does he proceed to do? 20 carries, 143 yards and 3 touchdowns. 7.2 ypc average. UN-stoppable. Fast forward 4 weeks, and here come the Colts. Again, we were facing a team who was extremely one dimensional. Carson Wentz struck fear into the hearts of zero defenses. Jonathan Taylor WAS the Colts offense. This should have been a game where Leslie Frazier lost no sleep whatsoever, because his pre-game speech should have been, "stop #28. That is all." What does #28 proceed to do? 32 carries, 185 yards, 4 touchdowns, 3 receptions, 19 yards and another touchdown. 5 TOUCHDOWNS. And to be honest, 20 carries, 143 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 32 carries, 185 yards and 4 touchdowns, while that doesn't look good against your run defense, they're not the worst stat lines ever. It's the fact that they did that against you KNOWING they were the only threat you'd be facing from that offense. They lined up, said "this is what we're about to do. Stop us." And we still couldn't do anything about it. If that isn't an indicator that your run defense has serious problems, nothing is. The bottom line is, our run defense is a huge liability right now, and it's masked by the fact that we were ahead by so many in alot of our games last year that teams eventually had to abandon the run. I'm in agreement with those of you that say Davis will most likely be gone by the time we pick, BUT, if I'm Brandon Beane, and Davis there when we pick at #25, I'm breaking one or both of my legs full out sprinting to the mic to turn in my card. Yes, we've spent the majority of our high draft picks on the D Line the past few years, but a guy like this falls to #25, you pull the trigger without a second thought. I could see if we were picking top 10, but 25 is a no brainer for potential like that.
  4. Simon you just made shrimp fettuccine come out of my nose. Aside from the gut splitting laughter, it wasn't the most pleasant experience.
  5. You bring up a very valid point. I think because not many people on here look at Singletary as THE guy, coupled with the fact that he has never truly wowed us with many uber productive games (125+ yards rushing), we've never really had to think about how we would perform without him. In thinking about it, I am a little bit nervous at the idea of it just being Moss as the featured back. It would put serious unnecessary pressure on Josh, and I thank God Daboll is gone if only just for that scenario, because I can see him calling an obscene number of designed QB runs. I'll be honest, I had extremely high hopes when Buffalo signed Breida in the off-season. I even envisioned him competing for the starting job at some point in the season, and the game against the Jets on 11/14 where he had a rushing and receiving TD, I thought to myself okay here we go. But I guess the fumble issues he had in both the running game and return game saw him fall out of favor with McDermott. Sadly, Breida has that homerun potential we all crave, and is a certified threat to take it to the house whenever the ball is in his hands. I would have liked to see him get more of a chance to run with the 1st team. What is his current contract situation?
  6. Absolutely spot on, I couldn't have stated it better if I tried. I know the play and exact series you're referring to in that game. But you bring up an even more relevant topic in that having that 3 down, homerun threat back will most certainly lessen the need for a good many of Josh's designed runs. I won't say that I don't like them, but the more valuable Josh becomes(which I also fully believe he will win his first MVP award next year), the more I hold my breath. Having that complete back to lighten that load has the potential to work wonders in multiple areas of the offense, almost like a domino effect. Great point again.
  7. Not disagreeing with you at all, in fact I wouldn't even say upgrading the RB spot is a NEED. To me it is just a definite want, and it is BECAUSE of how dynamic this offense has become already. To jump back into an earlier thread where it was asked if we felt the Bills took a step forward or backward, my answer was a resounding step forward, and it was mainly due to the maturity and development of Allen, the gelling and finding the right combination along the O line, and Singletary's improvement in the second half of the season(amongst other offensive improvements). But IMO, if we had a back with homerun speed, there's no telling how insane the offense could be. I get visions of Tecmo Bowl and Walter Payton. His player on there was simply unstoppable.
  8. Indeed it will, but doesn't the thought of having a RB who's a threat to take it to the house every time he touches the ball make this already lethal offense even more potent? IMO, having a back like that could take the offense to a whole different level. I thought so too. Several sites had us taking Etienne as well, and to be honest, I would not have been upset with that pick. I know Najee Harris had a great year for a rookie with the Steelers, but I don't remember hearing anything about Etienne. How did he end up doing this year?
  9. Yep, currently they have his 40 time listed as 4.46, and projected as a high 2nd round pick. And for what it's worth, Walker has also been quoted as being the most complete back in the upcoming draft. The fastest listed prospects 40 times are Cincinnati's Jerome Ford(4.36), and Iowa State's Breece Hall(4.39). Speed does kill, and I salivate at the thought of having a sub 4.4 back in our offense.....very sexy. I know speed isn't everything but just thinking about it in the context of our already dynamic offense, my God...
  10. Like the great majority of you, I was very happy with the play of Devin Singletary from the last 5 games of the regular season (starting at Tampa) and both playoff games. I thought he ran with more purpose, was more decisive with his runs, and refused to go down on first contact much more so than early on in the season. He also became more of a threat catching passes, as evidenced by him having 5 multiple reception games in his last 6 games as opposed to 5 in his first 12. I'm sure it can be argued that some of his success can be attributed to the improved play of the offensive line, as well as finding the right combination along the line. As pleased as I was with Singletary, I still ask myself, is he the long term solution at RB we've been looking for? And personally, I still think we can/should look to upgrade the position. I know that Beane even said something to the tune of we are always looking to improve at every position. I like Singletary, I think he's got a good attitude. When he was demoted he took it in stride, continued to work hard, and when his number was called, he answered the bell. However, I think he has average speed, and still can be a little indecisive at times when it comes to making a decision which hole to hit, committing to it, making that one cut and taking off. What I truly fantasize over is that back with that homerun hitting, breakaway speed, the one who's a threat to take it to the house at any given time, from anywhere on the field. I know they don't grow on trees, but I know they're easier to find than alot of other positions. looked at the top RB prospects coming out this year, and like QB, there doesn't seem to be any "can't miss" stud RBs coming out this year. The consensus top backs look like Michigan State's Kenneth Walker, Texas A&M's Isaiah Spiller, Notre Dame's Kyren Williams, Cincinnati's Jerome Ford, and Michigan's Hasaan Haskins. Per SI's draft board, none of them project as day one picks. It's nice knowing that we have a capable guy in Singletary, but I'd love to see us upgrade at the position, and this off-season. Moss regressed this year IMO, and I have my doubts as to him ever being the featured back in our offense. Thoughts?
  11. Just finished watching the Hunt video for the first time. Okay, if Hunt got suspend 8 games for THAT, Kamara could be looking upwards of 71, 72 games. Sheesh, I'm a STAUNCH critic of men who put their hands on women, but I gotta agree with you, that video was rather softcore IMO. 8 games was obviously the league making an example out of him. I really, really want to see this video now. Noone seems to have a copy. In due time I suppose. In relation to football, losing Kamara for a quarter, half or longer is going to be a huge blow, but I think the impact will be significantly greater because of several factors. The uncertainty at the QB position, regardless of who is back there. The Saints best bet IMO is to have Winston win the job and start the season as QB1. They're going to need Kamara there as not just the dynamic back that he is, but I think his blocking abilities are underrated, and him being that safety valve for dumpoffs and screen passes is crucial. Plus, they still don't know if their number one WR will even be there come opening day.
  12. Good point. You and Hap both reminded me that even if the state does in fact pursue charges against Kamara, and even if they go for more serious charges, it's all moot if the witness doesn't cooperate. And if Kamara throws the right amount of money at the guy, I would imagine he'd most certainly not cooperate. Again, I haven't seen the video, but if it's bad as described, I can see the league suspending Kamara to the tune of, my guess would be 4 games minimum, if he's lucky. I can't tell if that's swelling or just natural fluffiness.
  13. While I'm 100% in agreement with you on the civil suit Hap, do you really think he can make the criminal charges go away so easily? I didn't see the video, but it sounds like they beat the brakes off this guy to say the least. Kamara punched this guy 8 times, and it's noted that three of those times where while the guy was on the ground already knocked out cold. Holy crap Alvin, that's some straight up BS. To me that speaks volumes to his character. It's one thing to hit a guy, but to do it 8 times and 3 after the guys already out? I'm surprised all they did was fracture his orbital bone. Me thinks the league is gonna come down swift and harsh on him, regardless of what happens as far as criminal charges, but if I was a gambling man, I'd feel pretty comfortable wagering a pretty penny that these charges stick, and wouldn't be surprised if the DA decides to upgrade them. Doesn't sound like aggravated assault is too far of a reach to me. And we all know, video just makes it all worse. This brings Ray Rice to mind. (I know she was a female, which makes it a gazillion times worse, but we're talking about video of a guy beating a guy down and still hitting him after he's knocked out)
  14. And to further support your comment, IIRC, his level of play went up a notch late in the season, particularly the 2nd Pats game as well as in the playoffs. I was all for letting him go while he missed game after game, but when he was back on the field, he was, IMO, a difference maker on the line (and wasn't too shabby getting after the QB)
  15. I was born in Buffalo, and my mom moved me to Northern Virginia when I was only one, but I got to spend every summer in Buff, and visit multiple times a year, and I gotta say pizza in Buffalo is the bees knees to me, and if we're getting specific, my top 3, in order from 1st to 3rd are Leonardi's, Bocce's, then La Nova. Sweet mercy my mouth is watering right now just thinking about a slice from any one of those places...
  16. I share your sentiments darn near to the tee, as I too would have Trubisky as my 1st choice simply because he knows the system, has the tools, and we wouldn't miss a beat. But literally Dalton and Winston IMO would be outstanding pickups as QB2(i would lean a little more towards Winston just because Dalton is getting a little longer in the tooth, plus I believe Winston is as physically gifted as any QB on the list, and if he can limit his int's like he did this past season in the limited time he saw, I'd be gung ho for the pickup). Fitzy because we all love him, and I would say yes to Darnold because he's just gotten a raw deal and no continuity.
  17. I just spit water all over my phone!! 😄😄😄
  18. I'm gonna do some Italian hoagies. I buy some Dietz and Watson honey maple ham, Genoa salami, pepperoni, and capicola. I layer the meats on an oversized hoagie roll, generously top it off with some smoked provolone cheese, a dash of Italian seasoning, and set it in the oven for no more than 8 minutes at 400... Pull it out, add my lettuce, tomato, mayo and Italian dressing, and voila. As easy and basic a recipe as you'd imagine, but dee-licious.
  19. Same here. And as far as the 49ers game, that was the one I was most certain about...i gave them no chance of beating the Packers in Lambeau.....wow, just wow.
  20. Right there with you....out of the 4 division games this weekend, this was the one I was most certain about. I didn't give the 49ers much of a chance at all. I guess that's why they play the games....credit to the 49ers for hanging in there, battling the elements, playing lights out special teams, and pulling off the biggest upset of the playoffs so far...
  21. This just simply CANNOT be overstated. These in-house re-signings were effing huge, IMO. Matter of fact, I had already emotionally moved on from Milano, grieved his loss, had begun to attend support groups for those coping with the death of a loved one, because I KNEW there was no way we'd re-sign him. When I got the text message notification that we had re-signed Milano, I literally lost my cookies. I was ecstatic, but even more so, I was befuddled. And not only did we re-sign him, he gave us a hometown discount! It's moves like these that truly reflect the change in culture, the organization as a whole.
  22. Thanks for all the great tips on BBQ spots to try, next time I'm in KC I have some well-informed options to consider. Agree with you I love me some miracle whip, PARTICULARLY on a ham sandwich!! And i also second the tuna salad being zesty and delicious with miracle whip...Weird thing for me though is I cannot eat a ham sandwich without miracle whip, but a turkey sandwich i cannot eat without Hellman's mayo...neurotic me... Since you gave us some great tips on KC BBQ joints, allow me to share my personal favs when it comes to Buffalo spots for wings, pizza, and a delicious mind blowing steak sub...now please understand that while I'm originally from Buffalo, I moved away when I was just a kid, and only returned for summers as a child, and then just to visit relatives as an adult. My personal favorite for wings would be La Nova, on W Ferry. Man their chargrilled BBQ wings are the stuff of legends. Duff's is a not so close 2nd, although their wings are probably bigger and meatier than La Nova's...their pizza holds its own too, but my 1st choice for pizza in the Buff would be Leonardi's...mmm. Now, if you ever get your mouth set for a juicy, overstuffed mammoth of a steak sub, there's a hole in the wall spot called Shy's Original Steakhouse, on Fillmore Ave...its in the hood, you're gonna wait at least 30-45 minutes for a sub, but I promise you its worth every second...their steak and sausage sub is hands down the best steak sub in the city, IMO. There used to be a spot called Rick's, on Woltz, that made a legendary steak sub but they closed down years ago... Anyway, those are a couple of my personal favs if you're ever lucky enough to make it to Buff...I make it a point to eat at all three of those spots every time I go home 🙂
  23. I'm glad you brought this up, because this is something that has basically sat in the back of my mind for quite a long time now, dating back to very early in the season, I can't remember which game, but a defensive coordinator I believe even went as far as to say something along the lines of, "if Allen wants to keep running the ball the way he does, we're gonna treat him like a runner", insinuating that if given the chance they were gonna hit him and hit him hard. I know for a fact many defensive players have taken issue with Allen and his rushing abilities and his reluctance to slide/run out of bounds. I spent a great majority of the 1st half of the season in fear for Allen's safety, and literally held my breath every time he took off with the rock. But as the season progressed, and really only until a few weeks ago did I realize something. I mentioned this earlier in the thread, or perhaps in another thread, as much as Allen has developed his game as a passer, he's done the same as a runner. He is making much smarter decisions on when to tuck it and run, he's taking much better angles now, making him an even harder target to hit, combine that with his deceptive speed and long strides, and his runs now more than ever are simply back-breaking to the defense. You simply cannot gameplan for what Allen can do to you when adding his rushing element. And now that he is improving on what seems to be a week to week basis, defenders are going to have a hard enough time just bringing him down before a 40 or 50 yard gain, the last thing they have time for is trying to make ESPN's top plays by laying Josh out. And I agree with you 100%, there is most definitely some jealousy, some anger, and plenty of frustration with some of the defensive players out there...but because of the unique running skillset Allen is bringing now on a weekly basis, there simply isn't an opportunity for one of them to cheap shot or intentionally hurt Allen unless it was BLATANTLY long after the whistle, in which we're talking not just a flag, but ejection/suspension and hefty fines.
  24. In my heart of hearts, I believe the answer is a resounding yes my friend.
  25. Jeez....6'5, 245, elusive speed, runs with power, not afraid to truck or stiff arm you.. I'm beginning to truly understand and accept the term "unicorn" for all that it is. Josh Allen truly is one "unicorn" of a player. All jokes aside, I feel pity for defensive coordinators, defensive players period going up against Allen. There is simply NOTHING YOU CAN DO. Blitz him, he'll shred your secondary to bits. Sit back in coverage, he'll take those 10 yard plus runs as long as you give em to him, OR he's become patient enough (even Brady-esque, I dare say), and he'll dink and dunk you to your coffin. Pick your poison sounds so cliche right now but that's really what it boils down to. In my opinion, a defense's best option right now is to just hope that Allen has an off day and gives away a few turnovers..
