People hate the JPL Rumor for One Reason
billsfanmiami(oh) replied to Arkady Renko's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah because JP has such high trade value right now. If there even were any other teams interested in him, wouldn't that send up some red flags that maybe he hasn't been given his fair shake yet? This year you play JP all year to see what you got. If he blows, big deal. Cut him at the end of next year and move on. Getting rid of him this year is just plain stupid. It's like playing the pot odds in a hand of poker. There's a monster pot and you have 4 to a flush with an ace. You can either muck your hand now and not put more $ in the pot, or you call a moderate bet and have the possibility of a very high reward (no matter how low the probability of that happening is). -
Roethlisberger used to punt here regularly. Especially if we had maybe like a 4th and 4 or 5 and we're on opposing territory but out of field goal range. The offense would line up as if they we're going to run a play and he'd line up in a little deeper shotgun. They snap it to him and he pooches it down to about the 10 yardline, often getting it downed inside the 10 or 5. I'm sure other teams kinda knew it was coming but he was damn good at it.

Carbon Dioxide is the most significant greenhouse gas. I think methane holds more heat per unit but has a relatively tiny component in the atmosphere.
-
You're right, the planet has fluctuated between periods of hot and cold for millions and millions of years. The problem is that there is pretty strong evidence that the atmospheric concentration of "greenhouse" gases (CO2, Methane, CO, etc.) is increasing steadily and has been especially since the industrial revolution. Now, there is no definitive link that says this fact automatically causes global warming. It could just be a change in earth's climate patterns. Even if this is the case, I feel like the increase in these gases in the atmosphere (which can be directly linked to human activity) sure as hell won't help the situation. Some people brush it off as nonsense but that just isn't the case. The earth IS getting warmer and avg temperatures are increasing. The debate should be more about the relationship between greenhouse gases and the earth's warming trend, not merely if its happening. Even for those who think 100% it's just a climate trend, be aware that many processes in nature (carbon cycle, nitrogen cycle, etc) are delicate processes that have finite limits in their rates of turnover. If we keep putting more and more "stuff" into them, it will continue to accumulate. Bottom line is that driving SUVs or running factories won't throw the world into a "the day after tomorrow" situation, but our actions do have the potential to change the dynamics of some of these cycles, producing unpredictable results.

Who will be the Bills' starter
billsfanmiami(oh) replied to Orton's Arm's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That insightful comment was the reason for bringing up a 4 day old thread? Oh wait I forgot Holcomb's arm can't go more than a few hours without bringing up a JP/Holcomb debate to get off on. -
What's going on with the Sabres????

Lawyer Milloy on Sirius NFL Radeeeeyo
billsfanmiami(oh) replied to SnakeOiler's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lawyer always seemed like a class act and good teammate. I would have liked to see him stay another year (and have Vincent cut instead) but I understand the move. I'll still proudly rock my Lawyer jersey here and there. Hope he has a few good years left in him in the ATL. -
Marv Levy WILL win GM of the year - 2006...

At this point, I don't have a clue what the team will even look like (starters I mean) let alone what their record will be. This I am pretty sure of though: it can't get too much worst than last year when all things are considered. We were coming of a great run the previous year, had a great D and special teams, and a new young qb who we all thought would make mistakes (mostly bad decisions) but would probably wow us with his arms and legs enough times to make up for it. Well, aside from strong special teams, everything else was at the very least a disappointment. The expectations were so high, and the product was so bad. I think last year's shitshow was enough of a kick to the nutz that most will not automatically assume we're playoff bound. Also the regime change should lessen the "BS" coming out of OBD. It would be hard to think next year could screw with my emotions as much as last year so that's a plus. Then again, it is the Bills we're talking about...... -

Sabres bars in Clearwater FL
billsfanmiami(oh) replied to Sen. John Blutarsky's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not to hijack the thread but anyone know of a place to catch the game in the Cincinnati area? Near the Cincy/Northern KY airport would be ideal. I posted the same thing over on the Sabres board but figured I'd throw something on here too. -
LAMP- Going to Jamaica in a few days...
billsfanmiami(oh) replied to billsfanmiami(oh)'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, finally my spring break is officially underway. Had 3 tests earlier today/yesterday (wed) so no new school crap to worry about. Today marks one of my favorite "holidays" of the year here at school: Green Beer Day. Basically, I'm heading out to a party now, then to the bars that open at 4 or 5 am today. Everyone drinks all day/night then leaves for spring break tomorrow. Good thing I can miss my 2 classes today! If you're bored check out this site: www.greenbeerday.com Read the history section. It's a pretty interesting tradition and fun as hell to take part in! Might not get back on here till I get back next week, so here's hoping to a couple good FA signings! Go Bills! -

For all Floyd fans out there, try to get your hands on the Pink Floyd "Pulse" Dvd. It's a Dvd of the last live show they did (before live 8) somewhere in England. It's freakin unreal. 2 disks, well over 2 hours long. On disc 2, they do Darkside all the way through followed by an encore of : wish you were here, an UNREAL performance of comfortably numb (prob 9 or so min long), and end it all with run like hell. A couple of my buddies have it and it's hard to get a hold of I guess. I think they ordered it from Europe. I saw somewhere that it will be released later in the year here in the US with some added stuff. Definitely worth the $. -

....Thanks I'll be sure to do some yardwork before I go -
Friday morning bright and early I'm off to Jamiaca for a week for spring break. We'll be staying in Montego Bay right on 7 mile beach the whole week. All together, there will be around 20 of my fraternity brothers as well as a group of about 10 girls (a few girlfriends, their friends, etc). Each room has 3-4 people and our deal is all inclusive from 10 am to 10 pm. We got a GREAT deal so anything we get out of the all inclusive is just an added benefit (us out of shape boozehounds won't be too picky about our food and alcohol ) It has the makings of a legendary spring break trip. Just wondering if anyone had been there before and had general advice. How expensive are drinks and cover charges at bars? Should I be exchanging currency, or is U.S. easier? Any "must do" day trips to waterfalls, jungles, etc. (I'm talking legit/safe tours as I don't plan on soliciting an island tour from some dude off the street and ending up dead in a field or something) I'll probably do some "recreational smoking" down there so for all ahem.."smokers", are there really lots of undercovers? Is it safe to smoke in the open, or keep it in the room? I've been to the Carribean and Central America before so I have an idea of what to expect, but just looking for any insider advice about Jamaica. All suggestions are greatly appreciated doh! meant flying into MoBay and staying in Negril. Studying for 3 tests tomorrow and this looming trip got my brain fried!

Pretty solid 2 hrs tonight. First hour was a little slow getting going but picked up as it went along. That First Lady needs to keep her damn mouth shut and take a step out of fantasy world to realize tough choices are made in politics. At the same time, the Pres needs to grow a set and make a decision on his own. He always just throw himself behind whatever someone tells him about 15 seconds after hearing it. The 2nd hour was action packed and the attack on CTU opened up a completely new storyline for the next couple week's I'd guess. Overall, good stuff. I just got hooked on this show this season and I'm catching up on old episodes that they show on A &E and some buddies' season 1 & 2 dvd's.

These topics seem to come up every so often and always get a bunch of attention. Don't get me wrong, I love WNY but people that don't live there or haven't spent time there generally have a pretty negative image of what it's like. To them it’s “lots of snow, chicken wings, and a crappy economy". All the ideas of how Buffalo could get a SB are fun to entertain, but anyone who really thinks it’s a possibility (anytime soon at least) needs to take a step back and think realistically. Aside from the more obvious logistical questions about infrastructure, hotels, stadium amenities, etc. just think about the weather's effect on the week of events leading up to the SB. Are people going to want to be stepping over muddy snow banks to get into stores, restaurants, or bars? Do you see ESPN and other media outlets reporting live outside as a snow plows and salt trucks blow by? That's just one little thing that could have a HUGE effect on the pre SB "partying" and buildup. Bottom line: it's fun to think about what it'd be like, but as many have said, Buffalo lacks the most basic necessities to host a SB. Hotel rooms, transportation and entertainment have to be plentiful AND already present. Where would all the $ come from to make all the adequate changes that would need to be made? Even if the basic requirements were met, (unfortunately) Buffalo does not have the image that would be required to "sell" hosting a global event like the SB to the rest of the league. Like it or not, the Super Bowl is about much more than football now and Buffalo would struggle to produce all the necessary "extras". I see KC having many of the same problems and would be shocked if the SB actually happens there. ...rant for the week over
