Visit My Website Government to bail out music industry. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) today announced an initiative in the House of Representatives that would bail out the failing music labels and once again make recordings on vinyl and compact disc a viable option. The proposed initiative, co-sponsored by Representative Jack Murtha (D-PA), would set up a government sponsored record label - Federal Record Industry Music Recording Company (or Freddie Merc). The proposal is intended to bail out the failing music industry, which has been suffering from declines in CD and vinyl music sales while lesser revenue generating MP3 downloads are on the rise. “We should not be held responsible for this runaway public shift toward purchasing and downloading single tracks via Amazon, iTunes or other music sites,” said Universal CEO Doug Morris. “The artist acquisition, marketing and CD distribution methodology that we’ve been using for years still works. We’re in the mess we’re in now because of digital media speculation driving down CD sales. If the government doesn’t force a change in public behavior soon, CD sales may never bounce back.” One of the foundations of Freddie Merc will be the expansion of vinyl and polycarbonate manufacturing, with the end goal being to produce compact discs (CDs) and vinyl records at or above 1990 levels. Pelosi remarked, “Not only will it be good for Americans to get back to listening to their music on physical media, but this will also create millions of jobs for hard-working Americans. From manufacturing CDs and records to hiring A&R people to the resurrection of all Tower Record retail outlets - all will need to be staffed. More people buy music than homes, so if we’re going to do it for the mortgage industry…” Not all are in favor of Freddie Merc. Amidst chants of “We will, we will rock you,” environmentalists protested the increased carbon footprint the proposal will create. “The carbon our society is emitting is destroying the earth,” said Plimsoul Brethren, of Oxygen First! “According to Al Gore, we have 7 years, 6 months and 12 days left at our current pace. If this plan goes through, we could have less than 7 years left. Fortunately, I can do something about the polluting carbon I’m exhaling, but what about the rest of society?” Meanwhile, Republicans in congress are also angry about the proposal. “Nearly 95% of all major record labels are located in California or New York - blue states, both,” said Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH), “so this proposal will do nothing for the country music fans living in the red-state flyover portion of the country… yet, it’ll be they who have to pay for it.” The proposal has a long way to go, and it is unclear whether or not President Bush will veto, but time will tell. This is all good news for NewTunes, though, because we will probably qualify for a grant under the Freddie Merc American Needs Another Music Website Initiative (or Another One Bites the Dust). *Since ya never know with people, I should state that everything in this post is fiction… for now, anyway. But it looks ever more possible with every day.

I have an idea to give away a gift to all the members of TBD for Christmas but I'm not sure if you'd like it. I have an undiclosed client that spents time winding down here from Dec 27-31 every year. Let's just say he has gray hair, he is large, and his stomach shakes like a bowl full of jelly. Leave it at that. Anyway, I usually just take an enormous amout of money because after hanging around reindeer for so long, he is looking for some VERY attractive women to be with for those days. Anyway, I was thinking of passing on the money this year and having the dude grant a wish instead. I was thinking I could get him to talk to secretly give Ed a computer and internet access so he could join us again without his wife knowing. He could create a magical secret room in Ed's house where she couldn't go. Sound good? Would anything else be better? This dude has A LOT of gifts in his bag.

Some Of You Have Probably Done This But...
ieatcrayonz replied to Chief Loves Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I will take it easy but please realize that all year long while Trent has looked like a girlish version of Rob Johnson, people have been comparing him to great all time QBs. It gets a little tiresome. I think the only HoF QB I haven't seen him compared to is Sammy Baugh. Oh wait, I've got one. Sammy Baugh just died and Trent looks like death on the field. This proves Edwards=the next Baugh. -
I guess Mr. Lombardi didn't exactly perfornm either.

A 2nd round pick for Glove wearing Mary? Is this the NFL Europe draft? I thought they closed that down. -

So true. If Marv and Dick had just employed this "crazies" strategy when Bill Walsh called. -
Start McKelvin over Greer no matter?

Great pun dude. Truly awesome. It has been coarse. -
I'm pretty sure Jabber did, but it pretty much does in all "Buffalo" fans, as without Ralph, there is no "Buffalo Bills".

That is the same strategy suicide bombers use.

Our Season Comes Down to Six Plays
ieatcrayonz replied to May Day 10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
But it wasn't SEVERELY underthrown like Losman's. Also if Trent didn't get the concussion the D would have held Arizona to 3 points. Once Losman came in, the D started sucking. -

Caroline Kennedy Tours Upstate
ieatcrayonz replied to BillsNYC's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Not at all. I'm just saying is she really famous enough? We have lots of famous people in NY and wouldn't they be more qualified? -

I'm surprised Alex Baldwin isn't going for this. He has threatened to run a bunch of times. How about Madonna? She is moving back to NY and is married to A-Rod. Baldwin is famous and according to someone on here Kennedy is a slut but Madonna is both. Whoever wants the job and has had the most magazine articles written about them during their life should get it. -
Pivotal Play from Sunday
ieatcrayonz replied to Jeff Wright's Mullet's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You would definitely have to see the play again. -
I have addressed that. Trent will be entering his rookie year next year. Is it fair to bench a kid before his rookie year even begins?

Clean up the city boy has made the Glove wearing Mary look good by screwing up as the #2 QB. Especially this week, he was kind to Trent by blowing the game late. Had he held on to the ball he would have made Trent look bad since Trent blew the earlier game to the Jets in the 1st quarter. If we had won with JP, it would have exposed Trent as a talentless fraud. Now, that one play has made Trent look good. We really should be grateful to JP for giving us hope. The question now becomes, who is left in the NFL with the kind of loyalty JP has shown. Sure, JP is more masculine than Trent, but then again so is a doily. Or a dolly for that matter. At least JP tried to tone it down with his funny voice and his obvious lack of ability to grow a neat beard. This has distracted from the Los Gatos hair highlights and matching girlish gloves. Who can we get to replace JP? Hamdan won't do, he is too mannish. He might suck bad enough on the field, but that won't be enough. I can't think of anyone that would fill JP's role. Garcia: Girlish enough but not bad enough Orlovsky: Bad enough, but not too girly plus he's polish so the natives would like him Chris Sims: He's a maybe, and probably the best option but the whole bouncing back from a missing spleen thing hurts. I can't think of anyone and it wouldn't be fair to Trent to sign a QB and demote him. If you look at the draft value chart you realize that 09 will effectively be Trent's rookie season. How can you demote a guy before his first game? It isn't fair. The best option is to let JP walk but not replace him. This way Edwards is #1 and Hamdan is still #3. This way, there is no threat to Trent. When he gets hurt, he should only be replaced if he is out for multiple weeks. You know, if he catches a cold or has the sniffles. If he is only going to miss a week for maybe having a scary dream the night before or getting a paper cut, we should just run the wildcat that week. Can you think of any backup QBs that would work?

Plus, Connolly has little 4th quarter opportunity.
-
It's a good comparison. They do play different sports but one has shown ability and frustrated fans while the other puts us out of our misery in the 1st quarter rather than the 4th.
-
Subtract the talent and you are on to something.
-
So you watch Trent and you see Pennington, E Manning, Brees, Marino, Young and Elway? You left out Unitas. I will give you that from an ability and durability standpoint Chris Sims is a valid comparison, so you are 1 for 7.
