DT Marcus Bell released by Lions
ThePebble19 replied to The Jokeman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why is everyone so high on getting a DT?...we just drafted two of them last year...I think Kyle Williams and McCargo will turn out nicely. -
Lots of great signings to close the holes on that OL today, and give Losman and the RB (Whomever it turns out to be) time to work. I haven't been able to keep up here in the last week or so, but who figures to be the starting MLB going into next year? Are they looking to put Ellison in that spot, or Wire, or look toward FA/Draft? It just seems like a big hole that I am not sure that either of the aforementioned players can fill. On a side note, I saw Coy at Red Robin last Saturday night here in Mechanicsburg, his home town...He is a lot bigger now than even I remember him (he went to my HS for a couple years)...
-
Call me crazy, but I just can't see the value in signing someone like Kelsay to 6 mil per year just so he can rotate with Ryan Denney. At 6 mil per year, he better be out there for 97% of all snaps and picking up somewhere in the neighborhood of 8-12 sacks per year.... It is amazing how much money some of these "B" level players are getting this year because of the thin FA crop. Everyone has all this money to spend, and all of the pressure to upgrade their teams that they will throw money at people that don't deserve it...all this is going to do is make it that much harder to keep your REAL star players when they come up for contract.
-
Coy is a good guy. He went to my HS here in PA, and has done a lot of great community things...Still doesn't change the fact that he gets flat out rolled every time a RB puts a shoulder into him.
-
wow. What a dumb post.
-
Fully agreed...I think teams in general now are trying to harness that QB running game as to make them better pocket passers...You can't harness a Mike Vick, Vince Young, or even a J.P. Losman. You have to let them play to their strengths and give them the confidence that you are behind the decision to tuck it and run if all else fails. So many teams seem to just like their QBs to sit in the pocket, and it is just plain dumb when you have someone as athletic as JP.

How tough was our schedule this year?
ThePebble19 replied to Phil Indablanc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That is a stupid homer excuse. I know it is always good to see the glass 1/2 full, but let's be serious. Half the teams in the league are 5 plays away from homefield advantage....That is the way it is every year. To quote Bill Parcells, "You are who your record says you are" and the Bills are an 8-8 team. Think about it...The Jets are a goalline stand against Indy, a red zone INT against CHI, a horrible call against CLE away from winning the AFC East and wondering which team is coming to NY for a home game. Good teams finish games....Every team is a few plays away from the post-season...It is those few plays that separate the teams that play in January from those that go golfing in December. -
Trade McGahee to the Giants for a #1.
ThePebble19 replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wow...that is a rediculous idea...They have a little someone named Brandon Jacobs who may not be quite as quick, but runs 10x harder than McGahee. Not to mention that this is a RB deep draft, and noone is going to give up a 1st rounder for McGahee.... -

I agree...Between the Pats, Jets, and Bills, this division will be a nightmare next year...I wouldn't be surprised to see tiebreakers decide the division title. -

I agree...but even historically over the last 4 or 5 years 6 of those 8 teams have been forces to be reckoned with... Hey, we play in the toughest division in football, so if we can survie that, we can survive anything else. -

It doesn't get any easier next year either. Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Cincy, Cleveland, Philly, Dallas, NY Giants, Washington, Kansas City or Denver*, Jacksonville or Tennessee* Plus our division, which appears will be even tougher next year. *Games dependent on who ends up in 3rd place in their division. -
The Jets better beat the Dolphins

My bad, that was actually taken right from NFL.com -

Zach Thomas deserves the Pro Bowl...his numbers speak for themselves.... Al Wilson on the other hand, does not...95 tackles and nothing else. Meanwhile, London Fletcher has over 100 tackles, 3 picks, 6 defl's, and a TD... Seems London got hosed... Still not the biggest disappointment...Anyone that says that John Lynch deserves to be there more than Kerry Rhodes is completely blind. -
For you metrosexuals out there...

I just hope the Jets never wear those Green on Green outfits again... Hideous. Not to mention they are like 1-5 with those outfits...they are just bad karma. -
I completely agree...I mean, the guy has over 100 tackles this year, again...but that system completely takes away his playmaking ability...we are not seeing the sacks and interceptions that we have in the last couple of years... It's tough to see what should be the heart and soul of the defense lost in the crowd of tacklers week in and week out.
-
Absolutely. After that sack and fumble that let to the Royal TD, Chad's game went from OK to Terrible. His receivers kind of hung him out to dry in the first half....a lot of balls that should have been caught, that just weren't... But his strength, which is decision making, was just no there today...I mean, throwing check-down passes when you are down by 2 scores is just horrible... I applaud Pennington for coming back from the injury and playing as well as he has, but I really think it's time the Jets go in another direction next year...He will be a backup. Whether it is Kellen Clemens or another vet they bring in, I don't think that Pennington will be leading the 2007 Jets. That's saying a lot from me, because he has been my favorite Jet for years now. He is still a class act, and I think he would make a great coach if he decided to go that route, but I think his starting QB days are numbered.
-
this is nothing new...Vilma has been invisible in the 3-4 this year...It's a shame...He was so promising in the 4-3 system.
-
Mangini did not get out coached today...three horrible turnovers by the Jets QB was the turning point. The Jets defense did not do a great job of containing the run either. Great win by the Bills, they were the better team on this day.
-
Cedric Houston has been running with a vengeance since his return from injury.
-
I don't think it will be just Washington that will be the priority...Cedric Houston is running with a vengeance since his return from injury. That "Thunder and Lightning" punch is a good one. Buffalo's pass offense has been better, and looked good against Jacksonville and Houston. However, I was not really impressed this week, even though it was against a great SD defense. 2 of the 3 touchdowns were scores that Buffalo didn't have to move that far to put it in. The last score was impressive though. The key for the Jets in this game is to get up early. At least 10-17 points, because Losman has had a knack in the last few weeks of playing spoiler on that last couple of drives in the 4th quarter. Neither team really has a great run defense, although the Jets run D has certainly been better since the bye week. Write it down. This game will be decided by special teams. Both teams have dangerous return men, a couple of the most dangerous in the league...It should be a fun game to watch. Jets 30, Bills 17

Official 2007 Orange B'ball Thread
ThePebble19 replied to BuffOrange's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Big Cuse fan here, but I don't get to see many games at all being in Middle of Nowhere, PA. Was kind of hoping G-Mac would have caught on with an NBA team last year, as it would have given me a reason to watch the NBA...oh well, I suppose I will stick with College B-Ball -
I do think that McNabb getting injured kept Andy Reid's job for another year...His playcalling is horrible, and with a team that has that much talent on it, there is no way they should be a .500 team.

Oh my God... Hey, did anyone hear that Tedi Bruschi is back from his stroke?
