  1. I think the Phins played well for 3 quarters tonight. They hung in there, but when it mattered the most, they didn't run the football. On that particular toss play, there was no excuse for that. Grow some nuts, put your head down, and run it off tackle, and pick up 2 yards. You can't carry the ball 15 times and expect to win a football game. I don't think the Steelers D is nearly as good as last year. I think that their secondary is completely suspect, and they do nothing but try to lay out big hits, and end up giving up big plays because they don't tackle. Their run D was pretty tight, but Brown still moved the ball alright on them, when he was actually given the chance. Bottom line of this game is that Miami had the game in their back pocket and let Pittsburgh steal it from them. No excuse for the crappy playcall on that third down, no excuse for letting Zach Thomas cover Heath Miller, and certainly no excuse for either of the two passes that Culpepper had picked off when it really mattered. Shoot, my Grandma could have picked off those passes. This division is going to be a bad one this year...I really think that the winner of the AFC East is going to be 9-7 or 10-6. As for Pittsburgh, if they continue to play like that on defense, teams like Baltimore and Cincinnati will tear them up.
  2. This is a great post. I am a rare breed when it comes to football, whereas when I was about 5 years old, I was watching a Jets game, and got to see Ken O'Brien play. For some reason, I thought he was awesome, even though I would grow up to learn that Bruce Smith kept Kenny O on his back more than on his feet. Since that day, I have been a die hard Jets fan. But also keep in mind that I was born and raised in Buffalo by parents who were 17 year season ticket holders to Buffalo Bills football. I have been wearing Bills gear since the day I was born, and I will continue to wear Bills gear until the day I die. Therefore, I love the Bills just as much as I care about the Jets. Odd, I know. Most people who don't know me look at my situation and think that I am just a fairweather fan, but I have suffered more heartache with these two teams than in any other sport that I spectate. From the Bills' 4 SB losses to the Rich Kotite Era, from the Music City Miracle to Doug Brien becoming my own personal Scott Norwood. I live and breathe both of these teams for 365 days a year and it really only becomes difficult on 2 days a year. On those days I just wish for a good game, and no injuries. So welcome back again, and lets get ready for another great year of football.
  3. It's a great move by the Jets anyway. If they do nothing but make Branch think he is worth more than he is, and then not be able to match what the Pats want for him, they succeeded in making the two parties further apart.....
  4. I agree...It made you leave the theatre thinking you could just get right out there and start hitting some people. For me, its top 5 in sports movies...
  5. LOL...This is great. Link
  6. Good move by the Jets. For what looks like it will be a 4th round pick if he has an average year, this will help them tremendously. Between Barlow, Blaylock, and Washington, I think the Jets are inching closer to a .500 season, which may sound like a knock on them, but it is leagues ahead of where they were at last year.
  7. I'm sporting my Coy Wire home jersey........its the only jersey that I have that I don't feel bad getting dirty at work.
  8. Joey Porter perked up when he saw comments from Indianapolis Colts offensive line coach Howard Mudd, who popped off to The Indianapolis Star a day earlier. Referring to the Steelers' 21-18 victory in an AFC divisional playoff game seven months ago, Mudd said of the Steelers, "They are the champions, and I respect them, but the Pittsburgh Steelers did not beat the Colts. The Colts beat the Colts. Let's go play again. Right now." Porter, who called the Colts "soft" the week of the game, responded sharply. "I don't know what he's so mad about," Porter said. "(The referees) tried to help you all win that game. They tried their best to help you all win that game. The game was a blowout. We would have blown them out, for real, if you want to be that technical about it. I thought we should have beaten them by two touchdowns, easily, but with all the help they got from the refs and stuff, that gave them an opportunity to be close." Porter was referring to officials reversing a possible game-clinching interception by safety Troy Polamalu with 5 1/2 minutes left in the game and the Steelers leading, 21-10. The NFL later said the reversal was wrong. Porter, who had two of the Steelers' five sacks in the game, believes Mudd was wrong, too. That's funny...I seem to remember a certain Super Bowl....
  9. Being a Jet fan, here is my perspective: You can't knock the Jets for the drafting of both Brick and Mangold. That was a great move to help solidify a really lousy offensive line. Gates or Thomas are no better than what the Jets have now. Blaylock, Cedric Houston, and Leon Washington have more upside than Thomas does, and are pretty much right on the same level of talent that Gates is. Suggs had a really big upside if he could stay healthy, and I'm sure that's why they pulled the trigger. Obviously, he couldn't and now it doesn't matter. At this point, I see them going into the season with this group of backs, and when Martin is able to come back, if he can come back, he will split time with a couple of them. Looking at the RBs out there that could be available, there isn't much to choose from. Michael Turner would have been nice, but now with Sproles hurt, there is no chance of that. Chris Brown or Travis Henry are injury prone and have attitude problems, and wouldn't be worth the draft picks. Again, the same with Chicago's backs. The only feasable trade would really be someone like T.J. Duckett. They could ship off Justin McCareins who has slipped to #3 or 4 on the depth chart and a mid round pick, and even that is a big stretch. Facing reality, the Jets are at best, AT BEST, a 7-9 team. That is only if they can get some consistant and healthy play at the QB position. They will struggle with the run defense in their new 3-4 style, with not having a real NT. However, I think their linebackers will help make up for this, and their secondary will be better than people give them credit for. Overall, their defense will keep them in every game they play, but it will be their inability to hold the ball offensively that will hurt them (i.e. the Baltimore Ravens.) I think they will win 4-6 games.
  10. Wow...Rich, you know I live right near Ship, and I haven't heard anything about this yet. Maybe I just missed it on the local news. Unfortunate, yes. My thoughts are out to his friends and family.
  11. If KISS is no better than the Backstreet Boys or Hanson, then they should definitely be in the hall of fame...After all, after visiting the HOF 2 weeks ago, I was a little shocked to see more than one display with outfits for Hanson, Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC, 98 Degrees..... KISS has sold a rediculous amount of albums, and is still just as successful on tour as they were in their prime. Their music speaks for a lot of people in that generation. I think without a doubt that they should be in the HOF.
  12. Hey, I don't know if you guys heard or not, but ESPN just told me that Tedi Bruschi is back.
  13. I was going to hijack this thread with a "Because Coy Wire is going to be the starting SS!" message, but I'll pass... I think I threw up a little in my mouth just thinking about that.
  14. I know.........Im...so..ashamed!
  15. I got me a Thurman Thomas Oklahoma State Jersey last year...Brought it to Buffalo for the induction to the Wall of Fame, against Miami...decided against wearing it, put some other bills memorabilia on, and went to the stadium... Sure enough, we were in the fieldhouse before the game, and walked past the Autograph table, and I just about started crying...There was Thurman, signing autographs...I got him to sign one of my Nike reciever gloves, and got a picture, but I will never forgive myself for leaving that jersey at home...That would look so nice on my wall.
  16. I like the new logos...the jerseys are really nice too...They just unveiled the new merchandise online today...I might pick up one of those polos.
  17. Look at the current AZ Cards jerseys...they look almost identical, but with different colors.
  18. Ah, Philadelphia. The City that hates you back.
  19. I turned it off...he was giving me a headache....nothing like a 175 year old man trying to make a joke to the governor on live radio.
  20. I have to agree with James Washington on FOX sports radio this morning on this situation...I just don't see the big deal...The guy was in Philly for 2 seasons, and only played a total of 1 season in two years! He put up great numbers while he was there, but Philly is treating him like he is the entire reason the franchise didn't win the Super Bowl, and for the downfall of the team. I could understand the massive anger if McNabb was playing for Dallas and coming back to Philly, but to me, hes no different than any other free agent, money grubbing guy. The problem with this situation is, that TO is a great reciever on the field. And he knows the ins and outs of those DBs in Philly. I think he blows up in the two games they play next year, and Philly fans go home feeling empty because they never get that "big hit" on TO...
  21. I am listening to this wondering if he is going to die right on the air.

  23. It still doesn't make any sense...They made moves for the QB position in FA, and now are sitting with 3 picks in the first 35 selections, in a draft filled with 40-45 1st round caliber players. They could fill so much more than just the QB position with those picks. Oh well, it would be par for the course for the Jets to screw up a draft....Ken O'Brien before Dan Marino?
  24. With all of the restructuring and releasing they did, not to mention the extra 10 mil they got with the new CBA, they are sitting right around 20mil under.....and they can still free up more by getting rid of Abraham.
