  1. I'm with you here. I'm a bit stunned by some of the prices being thrown around in here. I've never bothered with anything more than the standard ones that came with my phone. I don't use them too often so I've got a good backup supply built up. They work well enough at the gym and that's the only place I ever use them other than the occasional flight. I'm sure I'd be stunned by the quality of the expensive ones, but I never see a scenario where I'll need them.
  2. Now I just need to figure out how to watch it while it's unplugged. Take that, evil advertisers!
  3. I'd love to see where both guy's career numbers would be so far without their injuries. I'd imagine that McDavid didn't lose much in terms of points per game due to the collar bone, but Eichel was definitely held back by not being 100% for a while.
  4. How many TVs actually have a camera? It has to be the higher end models, right? I don't know that I've ever seen one, not that I've looked too closely.
  5. Now there's a funny thought, Eugene as a leader. That place would fall so quickly. He's smart, but that's best served in a support role.
  6. I know they're forever tied together thanks to that draft, but McDavid needs to be taken out of the equation. He's on his own level and there is no shame in being the best of the rest.
  7. No doubt, but it's a lot easier to focus on depth when you don't also have to focus on the top of the roster. I don't want to compare him to specific players in Pittsburgh, but there's a reason why they've consistently gotten significant contributions from their entry level guys over the years. The increased attention on the top guys takes it away from those lower guys and they can then thrive. The potential growth from that is what you hope will make those guys able to pick up the slack should there be an injury. At this point, of the guys we do have here, I'm most curious to see the growth of Bailey and Baptiste under these conditions. At this point, the team has a legit offense from their top 5-6, so now it's time for the youth to fill out the ranks. BC needs a strong showing in the Hockey East tourney to even make it to the NCAAs. You may well get your time from White.
  8. Personally, I think building this team just got a lot easier. Eichel has officially arrived and they have their superstar. It's going to be a hell of a lot easier assembling a team when you have that key centerpiece in place. The kid has one single flaw, that he's not from or playing in Canada.
  9. Right, no top pair d-man is walking through that door. They're going to have to target a second and tied pairing guy. That seems most realistic to me.
  10. I'm with you. The price for any free agent d-man, let alone Shattenkirk, is going to be through the roof. I think it's going to have to be via trade if you want to add a higher end guy.
  11. I forget which one is which, but I assume Liam is the one who hasn't appeared on the last one or two McPoyle episodes. The gang may very well be free of him.
  12. Right, and with Shattenkirk, they might as well just wait until the offseason if they're interested. Washington won't be keeping him anyway, so there's no concern about him signing an extension.
  13. I feel pretty much the same way. I watch, but I don't particularly look forward to it. They've pretty much done everything already. The only thing that could save it in my mind is Jack Bauer.
  14. Sorry, I wasn't trying to cherry pick only your first paragraph. I just thought it was a perfect illustration of the holes in this team. Most reviews of Murray's work are always the same: this forward's good... that forward's good. It's going to be a tough spot to correct though. The cost of a top 4 d-man is through the roof at this point. As for the expansion draft and the trades it should bring on, there's one angle I haven't seen mentioned so far. Teams like Anaheim or Minnesota could very easily make a deep run in the playoffs. That would wind up giving their GMs less time to work out a deal. Tim Murray will be able to make a trade the second the season is over, but Bob Murray and Fletcher could very well have to wait until very close to the end of the line. Sure, they could talk deals behind the scenes, but the results of those games could wind up changing things. That or they could come to a quiet agreement, but then two weeks later someone else swoops in with a better offer. Oh how I'd love to be a fly on the wall during some of these trade talks.
  15. This reminds me of the long list of Jerry's girlfriends from Seinfeld. That and some of the recurring characters (Dr. Tim Whatley). But anyway, I like it when someone is able to graduate from the "hey I know that guy" status. They play that same bit role over and over and you never know who they are. Suddenly one day people learn his/her name. The first one that comes to mind is Danny Trejo.
  16. Completely absent from your description here is NHL-level defensemen. That's exactly why they're struggling right now. Fortunately, even the most inept GM in the world would have to be aware of this problem. Where he goes moving forward to address this issue is going to make or break his stay with the Sabres.
  17. That and even if he was pulling the trigger when he was killed, the walkers can move their hands. He would have long since let go of trigger. But if by some chance he never let go of the trigger, the gun would have been out of bullets ages ago.
  18. Do yourself a favor and google the text that quickly scrolls the screen at the end. It's hilariously random.
  19. I think the weapons thing is far more understandable to the average viewer than the gas thing is. That and things get boring pretty fast if they aren't able to drive around. It's one of those things you just have to accept in order to keep the story moving.
  20. But he doesn't really have any reason to think he'll be seeing any of the Alexandria people any time soon, if ever again. He might have some loyalty to Rick, but at this very moment, all he can be thinking about is making ends meet in his new home. Last night's show was just kind of there, nothing much to talk about really. It was kind of fun to see them slice through so many walkers for the first time in ages, but that's about it. It looks like next week is where we will start to get some action.
  21. All I can get is the Pittsburgh broadcast through the NHL network? No thank you. This is painful to listen to.
  22. Right, he's on year two of his three year entry level contract. All ELCs are exempt.
