  1. Yeah, I have to call BS on that one. Since that date is so recent (mid-season even), someone would have mentioned it on some kind of baseball broadcast.
  2. People have these crazy things called nicknames.
  3. First of all, they didn't let their best defensemen walk. Second, it was over $2.5-3 million, not $1-2 million. That difference is one very solid NHL player. So why is it that you're going to hold a lack of playoff success against Phaneuf, but then you'll turn around and talk about Campbell as you talk about Pronger and Lidstrom? 5 series wins makes all that difference compared to what Pronger and Lidstrom have done (specifically, Lidstrom)? Nevermind the fact that Campbell has now been a part of back-to-back huge playoff failures. Sure, maybe the rest of the team had a lot to do with those losses, but the same goes for Phaneuf. Also, why is it that you'll admit that age plays a major role in what kind of player Phaneuf can become but you don't mention it for Vanek? Both are essentially the same age and have the same amount of professional hockey under their belts.
  4. Ummm, if they didn't want to pay him, they wouldn't be.
  5. Actually, I'd say he did the best thing in that situation. Instead of trying to pull it towards the net to cover up, he knocked the puck back, where it wasn't going to be put in the net. He probably had no idea exactly how little time was left on the clock, but it was the perfect play. I love how stupid tv guys can be. I forget who it was interviewing Lidstrom (probably Pierre Maguire), but his first question was "does this put an end to the argument that a european captain can't win the cup?". What the hell kind of question is that? Talk about master of the obvious there. Another thing about the broadcast that annoyed me was towards the end of the celebration. The Detroit scrubs were getting the cup, guys like Mark Hartigan and NBC cut to an interview with Darryl Sydor. Darryl F'n Sydor! Why do you cut away from the cup for that?
  6. Does the fact that the point of impact is different from the place with the most damage tell you anything?
  7. But what exactly qualifies as damage though? Could a scratch end up being marked on that report? How easy is it to break a headlight? That could qualify as the broken piece found at the scene. Either way, its not a good thing, but I don't know how much can be told from that report.
  8. Making any public statement would be crazy. Whether or not it was him, he's tied into this thing directly because of the car. No attorney would let him say a word, even if completely innocent.
  9. You know, with as many ads there are floating around on the streets for the celtics, I have never seen one tv ad for the team. Kind of strange. Denver does have a decent hockey following, but I don't see them as belonging on the same list as the other markets mentioned before (I'm not sold on Pittsburgh either, but they obviously matter as of this moment). The Dakotas are essentially an offshoot of the Minnesota market. Wisconsin is fine, but like Denver, they don't quite measure up to the other markets. They might fall in as an offshoot of the Minnesota hockey market as well. I really see it as two main american markets, the northeast and the upper midwest. Buffalo might as well be the midpoint between the two, but then we also have the heavy southern Ontario influence.
  10. Maybe parts of New England and Minnesota? Hmmm, I wonder how Minnesota got that "state of hockey" nickname. New England's got their baseball distraction right now, but you should see how many options there are out here for hockey during the season. Excluding either of those areas from the list of hockey markets is crazy.
  11. Is it sad that the only picture that I cared about was the Wayne's World reunion? It makes me actually want to watch about 5 minutes of those awards.
  12. I knew I forgot something. I also liked it when I realized that the guy who opens up a book when the tv goes out was Kyle Gass.
  13. Stiller directed it.
  14. Mac used the nickname all throughout the movie. He was the one character I really didn't like. He didn't seem like the kind of guy that Indy would ever have as a friend. Too much of a money grubber. I really missed Marcus Brody in this one, but there's not much they could do about that since the actor is dead.
  15. I wish they hadn't gone where they went, but I enjoyed it. Pretty much all of the search right up until the city was right along the same lines as any of the other movies. From there, is the supernatural stuff really all that different from the ends or Raiders and Last Crusade?
  16. I'd say this one is pretty picky: The location change goes along with the other towns better than NC does. The timeline change probably goes along with the location change, but also it makes Moonlight younger than Shoeless Joe and the other players.
  17. But, but, but.... everyone does it, so its ok. Ok, that defense is off the list, so I guess New England fans now fall back on the "everyone is out to get us" complaint. This does make you wonder about that whole Ted Johnson situation.
  18. I don't know how much kids at 7 and 9 see on tv/movies, but how did your kids react to the endings for Raiders and Last Crusade? Compared to all the crazy effects in today's movies, the nazis melting and Donovan's rapid aging look pretty cheesey.
  19. Now if only they could've added in a scene where Karen Allen kicks the crap out of Kate Capshaw. Its not like they had to search very far for Capshaw.
  20. But its slowly becoming more and more like myspace.
  21. Is there really much talk of the Bills moving to LA anymore? I thought it was all about Toronto at this point.
  22. Where did you get that they're going to make this out of the first 2 hours filmed before the strike? I don't see that in the article at all. In fact, if you read this link that was mentioned in that article, it says that they are currently looking for actors to take part in the filming of the 2 hour movie.
  23. But then there's shows like Frasier, most of the stuff that was a spinoff of Happy Days, the Jeffersons, SVU...
  24. They can actually break up each lie into separate charges? That seems like a cheap move to me, just a way to increase the odds of getting someone.
