  1. Because they don't always play 18 holes. The match stops once it becomes impossible for the losing golfer to tie it up. Would you just give all those remaining holes to the winner? Also, not every hole is won. What happens to the holes that are split? This scoring system paints a pretty clear picture of exactly how the match went.
  2. I can't even imagine what it would take to win a match that quickly. Even the crappiest of pros should be able to half a few holes with a par. It had to have been one of Tiger's strongest rounds paired up with one of Ames worst. Even a fired up Tiger needs more than a little help to win that quickly.
  3. And didn't Tiger take one of his matches a few years back 10 & 8?
  4. It'll be the same ending, minus the alien space squid. Everyone will face the same outcome, but in a way that will be far more realisitic. Other than Dr. Manhattan, this story has a good feel of realism to it... well, everything but the squid.
  5. Yeah, but who is that? Is he just some big business man looking out for that diamond trade in Sengala or is he a big shot politician, tying in to the whole corruption story.
  6. It's no rumor. The director has confirmed it. I won't bother searching for the link, but it shouldn't be that hard to find.
  7. In Redemption, that guy who went to the president's son for help said he knew Voight was some big shot, but didn't know his name. So he can't be the VP. Lennox worked on the staff for Wayne Palmer and Daniels. The exchange in Redemption made it look like President Taylor beat Daniels in the election, so that would rule out Lennox, well, that and the fact that Lennox was also there for the exchange of power. That also makes him from a different party, but then again, that didn't stop Mike Novick from working on the staff for both David Palmer and Logan, who were from different parties (Logan replaced Keeler, who was running against Palmer in season 3). Heller has to be out of the picture. They've effectively cut Jack off completely from his entire past. Bringing him back would re-open the Audrey door, which I can't see them going anywhere near. He should be in the same party as President Taylor though, so I guess anything's possible. Maybe I'm overanalyzing the whole political party thing, but the whole Mike Novick situation always bugged me. Being the top advisor for two presidents from different parties?
  8. On another board I post at, we have an agreement ahead of time that we won't discuss the previews. So it's a bit of a force of habit, but I'll stick with it for now. koolaid, we already know who the evil genius is. Jon Voight will have to show up at some point. The only thing we really don't know is who exactly he is.
  9. I've got a new complaint after watching the preview for next week. I'll throw it under a spoiler tag just in case people try to avoid those (and they do generally show too much):
  10. And I'm sure it has a lot to do with the writers strike. From what I read last week, these last two episodes were the first ones completed after the strike ended. It really shows.
  11. Tony definitely sent that text to Red Foreman's assistant. All I could think though is that if they have to kill off Red, can he at least call the assistant a dumbass as he's dying?
  12. And Edgar was only on for 2 seasons, right? Anyway, I hate how they list the actors at the start of the episode.
  13. Speaking of Aaron Pierce, out of random curiousity, I just checked out the IMDB cast page for the show. It's amazing how far down the list (sorted by total episodes) he appears even though he's the only other character to appear in every season. Last year's one episode really didn't help, I'm sure.
  14. I don't know what the problem is, but try typing in the full 4-digit year.
  15. Most wouldn't even have the opportunity to ignore it. They wouldn't get any press at all. Really, when I see issues like this one pop up, it just strengthens my negative feelings towards the majority of the media. People despise the actions of the Westboro baptists, so let's give them a stage to take their act to the next level. People can say what the want about this "church", but they are very smart people and they know exactly what they're doing. But then again, I guess the media does as well (ratings).
  16. And they do the same thing all over the country, right?
  17. I hate saying it, but a member of this church really needs to die in an event like this crash. Will they then protest one of their own?
  18. That whole site is addictive.
  19. That's a big part in this one. Hockey players get to fly under the radar. Yes, their sport is far less popular, but football players also stand out far more in a crowd. Even the largest of hockey players (other than someone like Chara) would be dwarfed by the size of most football players. There's definitely something to the different culture of the players though too. Just looking at some of the stories that float around out here in Boston, every sport has their scandals, but the hockey ones do seem to be less violent as a whole. The typical hockey moment involves alcohol and stupidity.
  20. But isn't the stereotype usually Muslims attacking non-Muslims? So he's got that going for him. Sure, there's plenty of conflicts between different branches of islam, but that's not what most people think about.
  21. You listed it as a spoiler, but I don't see any reason to leave the spoiler tag since it already aired. So anyway... The other guy was too obvious though. They've used this trick a few times now. They make it ridiculously obvious that someone is a mole. Then when they actually come close to revealing it, they focus completely on another character (Garafolo) to make people think that one is dirty instead. Plus the guy's an icon on this show. I don't want to watch a season of 24 that doesn't include Aaron, even if it was his crappy limited role last season. I like how they've completely left Tony in the dark for a few hours now. Make people forget about him only to bring him back in a big way. I'd say it gives more fuel to the idea that he's still working for the bad guys. The Dubaku storyline looks like it's ending soon, so we could end up with evil Tony leading the way again.
  22. Aaron F'n Pierce! Now just find a way to guarantee that he survives this season too.
  23. Notice how often he avoids eye contact with Letterman. He keeps avoiding Dave so that he doesn't break the character and laugh after one of his jokes.
  24. And it looks like Letterman actually broke him after the "sorry you couldn't be here tonight" line. Phoenix laughed and smiled at that one.
  25. This comment will come back to haunt me, they almost always do. This team is special.
