  1. They're heading towards a naval base. That seems like an awfully convenient place for helicopters to be taking off from. I doubt we see any modern weaponry reintroduced for the Whisperer war because my guess is that Michonne won't be returning from this trip. Like you said, this will lead her off towards Rick. I want to know who will wind up raising Judith and RJ now. I don't like the thought of her leaving them, but I think they're shoe horned into it at this point. I hope she has some sort of zombie apocalypse will that says "anyone but Carol".
  2. My house was built 4 years ago. I did have phone connections placed in a couple rooms. But now that I think about it, those lines aren't actually connected to anything. Whoever it is that actually provides the service for a landline nowadays would have had to come out and connect that line to the house the same way my internet provided did when I signed up, right?
  3. The league was very calculated with the 3 games for Pouncey. Even if reduced, it pretty much guaranteed he was out for the rematch next week.
  4. And it's important information to come out because if the claim winds up being convincingly shot down, Garrett just added even more time to his sentence. It won't come in the form of a suspension, but it may as well be career suicide. If he made it up, he doesn't get the public shame he deserves unless the story was put out there in the first place. You've got two possibilities here. You have a guy who made a racist comment or you have a guy who blatantly played the race card to cover his own ass. I'll leave it up to everyone to decide which the think is more despicable.
  5. I like to picture an actual struggle between Dubas and Babcock in my mind. It's really tough to pick a winner in that one.?
  6. Cap issues are defined completely by dollars. A winning team can have cap issues too. A perfect example is Boston who has no cap space either but is in first place.
  7. So now you've moved the goal posts on me. First it was those guys causing cap issues, now it's that they are under-performing.
  8. Each of these guys would be replaced by someone making similar money. Your list combined is going to be right around the average NHL salary. Those are not the kind of deals that cause cap issues. The highest on your list is Scandella at $4 million and quite honestly I don't see him as a part of the issue right now. Oh, and I missed Bogosian earlier on the list of bigger contracts at $5.1 million. That's one that is part of the problem and again, is a Murray contract.
  9. The cap does limit the moves significantly. That's just a fact of life. That said, there's no reason to hide behind it with every public statement. I'm not going to throw that cap jail status completely on his shoulders though. But if you want to do that, you also have to acknowledge that he also put them into the position where $20+ million of that is off the books this offseason. Once we get to the offseason, here are the remaining large contracts: Eichel (10) Skinner (9) Okposo (6) Ristolainen (5.4) There are some others, but I'll cut it off at $5 million as I don't see deals smaller than that as too much of an issue, particularly because each of them is short term. So looking at these 4 deals, the first two were signed by Boterill and the last two by Murray. I don't know about anyone else, but I see no problem with the first two, especially once they're paired back together. It really comes down to the price tag and term on that Okposo deal, which fall squarely on Murray. As much as it may scare some, Boterill's target has always been this offseason where that cap purge happens. So that's really the big difference between those two GMs, Murray made a swing for the fences at day 1 while Boterill was waiting until that future date. Neither approach is any fun, but one left no ammo for the future while the other still held onto a bullet or two. I do think there's at least a plan here, but whether or not that will actually work is another story all together. I see what they're trying, but my major concern with it is how many years they've wasted of an elite talent like Eichel and even a lesser but still very useful player in Reinhart. I also worry about how tough it is for guys like this to wash away the stench of so many years of pure garbage hockey. I'm not sure they really have much other choice, but they are definitely underestimating the damage that has done and continues to do to many of these players.
  10. I see what you did there. The team is so incompetent that even the PR guy has no idea how to use apostrophes.
  11. What is this, 1985?
  12. That's just crazy talk. She doesn't need glasses! Nope, she can't read the words on the tv because she chooses not to read them.
  13. I use the phone app on mine whenever my wife loses hers. I call it and boom there it is, sitting on the counter.
  14. He doesn't have a contract. He's only on an AHL deal. Honestly, I'm not so sure he'd want to sign one right now. They lose his draft rights in June and he may like the thought of being able to sign anywhere, even though it will just be an ELC. The rule for LTIR is that they have to be expected to be out for a minimum of 10 games or 24 days. Can you reach that expectation from a concussion, particularly the repeated type with a guy like him? I don't know. They're going to have to do something once Bogosian is cleared though. They'll be over the cap at that point thanks to all the callups the currently have. The easy solution is probably LTIR for Sobotka. I forget what his status is, but it did sound like it was one of those month+ deals. LTIR is retroactive to the date of the injury, so the time he's already missed would be included in that 10/24 minimum. Retirement would be a different story. His cap hit is gone in that scenario. There would be some cap recapture penalty though.
  15. That really doesn't allow for much of a time window. You never can tell with this show, but from Lydia's capture up until the fair/beheading, that was what, at most a couple months? That's an awfully short amount of time to be won over by that lifestyle, especially when compared to Alexandria. Like I said earlier though, it did look like he was being won over a bit during his time with Sadiq. Maybe he's just playing both sides so that he has a home no matter who wins.
  16. They made the playoffs two years ago and are currently 7-3. It's not crazy to think that some might feel a little more positive about the Bills than the Sabres.
  17. A question for those familiar with the comics. Don't worry if you're not, I'll keep it spoiler-free. There are so many stories in motion right now. They can't possible follow that storyline right now, can they? And last night's reveal was a bit odd. Lydia knew the captured whisperer but has never had any clue who Dante is? I'm sure they'll follow up on that a bit. He must be pretty close with Alpha if he's cool spending time around not dead Lydia. His comment during the fight, something along the lines of not wanting it to be like this, made it seem like he was coming around to their way of life a bit. But if that's the case, why's he sabotaging the water system (and what's he drinking)? Is it so simple as thinking that they can convert most of these people to the pack life?
  18. I hesitate to call it a regression since we saw the same exact thing last year. It may even be a slightly worse version of what happened last year. We won't know that for sure until this current stretch of suck ends (IF). So when you say a regression, you're talking in season, but this one could in fact be a season-to-season regression. How's that one for a scary thought?
  19. I'm also not a betting man, but if I was, I would have only one rule: Never bet on Buffalo (either team). Whether you're picking them to win or lose, they'll always disappoint.
  20. I supposed it could be as simple as playing on home ice, but I'm not so sure I buy into that thought that we are more desperate. Carolina's season may as well be a mirror image of ours up to this point. They're trying to dig out of a very similar rut that we are.
  21. An incredibly short post... you could at least read the whole thing. It's almost like I knew exactly where some people would go...
  22. Who? (It's a spelling comment, not an "I have no idea who that guy is" comment)
  23. Soon enough "racist" will be a catch-all term for any kind of insult. It has long since moved beyond its dictionary definition. At some point if you keep changing the meaning of words, they lose any meaning all together. And before anyone says it, this is not a comment about the Cherry stuff, just the use of that word in general.
  24. Ahhh crap, I thought he was there for that last cup.
  25. If you ignore the controversial ranting part, it's amazing how similar his career path is to John Madden. You have a coach with early success who transitions to media icon. I wonder if the US would have bought in if EA had named the video game after him back in the mid 90s.
